  1. Hi All

We ported in Puerto Vallarta a few months ago, just before xmas, and we were chit chatting with a fellow visitor.

They were thrilled with a walking tour they had taken of the old town taco stands... a kinda mouth watering moment for us... ya had to be there

Well, we are headed back to PV via Carnival Miracle in 2 weeks and would love a map listing of the taco stands...

We love walking old town and usually hit Marisma's

    this time... a taco extravaganza!

  2. we were just in St Lucia 01/17/14 off the Adventure of the Seas

Cosol tours is by far and away the tour to take

There were over 100 of us total from the ship on Cosol. Not a group of 100. 100 separate cruisers that researched and picked the best. The small cruise terminal was packed with us Cosol tourists

we have been on dozens of cruises and have never seen anything like the private tour attraction of Cosol Tours. 100+ passengers staging for a private tour group. And he gets it done, we were out of there and on an adventure of a life time by 8:20

10+ nice newer vans, he corners the market. Be off at 8am and join the Cosol adventure

Because of the volume, the $65 paid is $ well spent, 8am to 3:30pm, an unbelievable experience

no waiting at attractions, front row parking, the parking police just waved us to the front row, at each stop. No ticket booths, no lines, we just walked right into each attraction.

no mixups, no confusion, no unpleasant waiting, no let downs, not a single dull moment

Make sure to do the lava mud bath, our skin was soft for days, and no unpleasant lasting smell.

We had Ben as a driver. He was like a phd in the island vegetation and history, and extremely well spoken

  3. Rosarito is far (1 hour+), and the best road has had recent problems

you would visit Rosarito in the middle of the day, Rosarito party spots will be dead. We live in San Diego and Rosarito (30 minutes away) is not nearly as popular with the spring break crowd any more. The Mexico scare is alive and well here in San Diego

Legendary Hussongs, and the nearby party area, is right near the cruise pier in Ensenada

Get a Hussongs T-Shirt, a bumper sticker, browse the Hussongs walls of fame pictures, and stroll the area taco stands and many nearby watering holes, all 10 minutes from the ship.

If you are visiting on a Saturday, and the weather happens to be a sunny calm 80+ degrees, go for Rosarito. It could be an epic experience.

It is rarely 80+ degrees in mid March here at the beach in SoCal (same weather as Rosarito)

Otherwise... suggest you go to the Hussongs area of Ensenada

  4. Hi all!

    2 Q's

We are 2 full days in SJ before a cruise 01/13

    Q1

We have a refundable reservation in Condado at a top rated B&B thurs-sun morn

Maybe we should switch to an Old San Juan area hotel?

What are the differences of staying in Condado versus Old San Juan?

    Q2

We plan to do Old San Juan Friday 01/10/13, the Market, the forts, night life, etc.

Day tour the entire Island?, Rain Forest?, Caves?, Bus Tour? Rent Car? How? Friday? Saturday?

    !!! Thanks in Advance!!!

  5. Hi All

We are porting in Gdynia Monday Sept 2, 2014 on the large Costa Pacifica

We are trying to figure the best way to visit Gdansk Old Town

??? How is this best done for the USA cruise visitng couple ???

    !!! Thanks in advance !!!

Found this => 'take buses N° 150 or 570 to Gdynia Główna, the main train station in Gdynia (from where there are commuter trains to Gdańsk). A bus ticket costs 3zł (4zł for the faster 570), and a taxi to the centre should come to around 20zł."

Found this => "Shuttle operated by the city (assume it meets all cruise ships) drops you off at the corner of Zeromskiego/Kosciuszki Square"

  6. if I was a golfer I might want to golf in Cabo and take in the nature in PV and the history in Mazatlan.

Well stated! Cabo does have outrageous world class golf courses right along the ocean front, and Cabo does have much less to see and do, overall, for a first time "learning the area" visit. A golf enthusiast would likely prefer a round at one of the "WOW" golf courses in Cabo.

  7. We would choose Mazatlan, as PV has more to see & do; and PV has the bridge out to the nice courses north in Nuevo Vallarta. El Cid in Mazatlan has the popular golf course. You can likely arrange transport with them (google El Cid), or take a fun open air taxi.

Paradise Village golf course in Nueva Vallarta (north of Puerto Vallarta)

Very nice, yet PV has many MANY nice areas to see

  8. Sounds like a great deal! Last I recall it was $11/day at the port.

We always thought it would be fun to stay at the Queen Mary the night before (right nearby), but at over $200/night, it seems way too high (seems it was lower the last time we checked).

Maybe just a quick self guided tour sometime ($25).

We've also read about sunset happy hour locations watching the Sapphire & Star leave Sat evening, if you are leaving on a Sunday cruise.
