It was a Princess cruise out of Southampton, but we flew into London and spent a couple of days there. Than went to the station and caught the train to Southampton. I booked through MegaTrain 45 days in advance and got both my husband's and my trip there for 13 pounds. They don't do MegaTrain going back, so for just a bit more than the price of the train trip back I booked a car and then they were waiting to pick us up at the dock and we had a nice drive back to Heathrow to catch our flight home.

Thanks! Will be sailing her in November, so looking forward to the rest of the review!

The last few cruises I have been on in Aqua Class and they gave us 50% specialty dining the first night of our cruise. I think that is one of their perks.

Does those in Sky Suites have unlimited access to Parisian Gardens or is that just for the Aqua Class cabins?

We will be going on May 2nd from Amsterdam to Frankfurt. Thanks for the weather update. Hope it will warm up a bit before then but we plan on doing the Kukenhof on Sunday so hopefully the tulips will have lasted until then.
The one question I have is that we want to go to the Van Gogh and Rijksmuseum after we get picked up from the airport and drop our bags on the ship. It will be around lunch, so we don't have a lot of time. I would like to know the best way to get there to make the best use of our time.
Have a great time!

Will they stop anywhere for lunch, or did you just get something to eat at the airport?

My husband and I have always liked cruising January and February. Calm seas, not a lot of kids, and usually good deal on the cruise and flights.
I love Celebrity as well but unfortunately they don't do a lot of short cruises. I don't think they even do 5 night cruises, so you would have to do at least a 7 day cruises. I did a 10 day with them in Europe and it was heavenly (really getting to the point of relaxing) but unfortunately my boss doesn't like me to take more than a week at a time and it is usually not worth the stress I incur to fight for extra days.
All of the items you mention can really be done at any of the Caribbean ports. Look at the port boards and see what outside excursion companies people recommend and go for it!

I Booked Metrotrain for my trip from London to Southampton in August and my husband and I got the tickets for 13.5 pounds total for the both of us. They only book 45 days out and the tickets go from 1 pound on up. No problem using it at all. They only have one time per day, and I couldn't book it coming back.

Thanks Lois and Sunny AZ for your input. We will definitely do the Everglades tour if my husband's friend is busy.
I was looking at local tours, but it seems that the cruise line is the way to go since they take care of your luggage and everything.

I read through the thread and couldn't find an answer to my question.
We are arriving FLL on Saturday, November 22 and cruising out of Port of Miami that day. We arrive back at Port of Miami and do not leave FLL until 5 pm that evening.
Does anyone have any ideas of what we could do before we have to get to the airport? Is there a tour that would pick us up at the Port and drop us off at the airport? I know we have done that in Rome and in Seattle and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Will you be posting your Patters?

Looks like Megatrain has 1 and 6 pound trips. I am going that way for our trip on the 9th and my husband and I got the trip for 13.50 pounds. My understanding is you just have to take a taxi from the train station, which is about 5 pounds. http://uk.megabus.com/Default.aspx

Lars,
Thanks so much for all your posts. You really are generous to share your country with us.
I would like the pdf as well sent to donnarubright@railserve.biz.
I thought I had read somewhere the we could kayak around Alesund, but I cannot find it now. Is that possible?

Although I have not been on Princess yet, I appreciate that tip. One of the things I love about my vacation is being waited on. Also, I think it helps to avoid the multitudes at the buffets with their germy hands all over the tongs! I am not a germaphobe, but I find myself shying away from the buffets as much as possible.

I am sailing the first time on the Emerald Princess in August, after doing Carnival, RC and Celebrity. Any tips or things that stood out to you as different on Princess or the Emerald?

Probably best to ask that under your roll call.
