  1. Hi guys, have been wonderin bout the tours myself, since its been awhile since I've been there. If anything, was just gonna wander around the town, so see what kind of mischief, one can get into, within reason of course. Just thought I would clarify that, don't want anybody here to git the wrong idea.

  2. Hey guys, am plannin to fly into Vancouver the day of the cruise on May 26th, an have read on cruise line agencies that there will be three ships in that day, after gettin to the pier, was wonderin if there would be time to run down to the olympic torch an look around, then wander back to Canada place, wander down to the end of the pier, & etc? Then board the ship. Any suggestions? Thanks.

  3. Hi Crew News,

Next month will be goin on the Brilliance to Alaska, an haven't decided on the tours as yet, but here goes. In Haines, there's a nature & wildlife photo tour, an in Ketchikan there's a photo safari, thats 25% off. Last yr was on the Crown princess, an took the Skagway photo tour, an it just didn't do much for me. Can you help? Have tried emailing you but no luck. Thanks.

I have taken 4 cruises alone over the past few years, not part of any group--so truly alone.

I wanted to cruise, but could not interest anyone to go with me.

I am not a very outgoing person, and I will say that those solo cruises were difficult for me.

What helped a bit was asking for early seating at a large table, so at least I got to eat dinner with the same people every night.

On one cruise on the Brilliance out of Tampa two years ago, I found myself seated with a number of other solo travelers:  The Maitre'D had made this arrangement on his own.  On the second and third night, other solos were found and brought to join our 10-top.  It was brilliant.

One of us then said "I'll be here tomorrow for breakfast at 9AM.  Anyone interested?", and yes....

    We were off and running.

So ask if there is a "solo" table on your sailing.

Hey, LAkaye, will be sailin in a few weeks on the Brilliance an will ask the Maitre'D for a table with other singles. Was on the Crown last yr an at a different table every night, didn't like that, one night was the odd person, two couples for dinner.

We are booked on the Brilliance of the Seas for an Alaskan cruise.  The Port of Vancouver BC is the only port in the world that the online check in must be completed on the Royal Caribbean App, which is sizing up to be totally useless.  The check in process starts just fine until you get to the add a card for onboard charges.  I enter the information and when I click the button for add card it will not add the card, which is ironic because this whole process is about RC squeezing every dollar out of us they can, or allow me to move forward with the process.  I've called Royal Caribbean and they've "created a ticket".  First it was 3-5 days to wait, until I spoke with a supervisor, who assured me she would expedite the ticket and she would call me back in 24 hours.  I have yet to receive such call and when I call back I'm told they cannot contact the supervisor.  I ask to speak with someone in management and I'm told the best that particular person can do is give me another supervisor who is just going to give me the same line I've been getting.  I did get another number to call for their department that handles feedback after the cruise, but that was a complete dead end as well.  Everyone I spoke with at Royal Caribbean was polite and as helpful as I think they could be especially since dealing with someone like me in situations like this can be challenging.  We've spent a lot of money on this cruise and I expect better from a company that expects me to fork over that much money.  If you're going to force me to use the app to check in and forbid me to use the web site YOU NEED TO HAVE THE APP WORKING PROPERLY!  It further irritates me that every single person I spoke with at Royal Caribbean had no idea that I couldn't use the web site to check in for a cruise sailing out of Vancouver BC.  I actually had to argue with one of them a little bit to convince them.  And, yes, I know I have 45 days to check in, but the reason I wanted to check in so early is because I wanted a specific time.  So hurry up and wait.  This may sound petty to some, but when I pay this kind of money for something I expect better service.

Hey Papcap38, when are you sailin on the Brilliance? Will be goin on May 26th an can't wait. Can't checkin cuz got a flipphone, an at the moment, my name is "Willa have to wait," til I git to the ship. Hey but thats ok to.

  6. Hi guys, don't know if pilots who bring the ships in has ever been asked before, so here goes. As those who are in the know, what does the pilots day consist of, as to bringing in the ships, does a pilot after docking, do they go back to the office, to work some more, then come back to the ship to sail out, an when they depart from Hwy 19, down there on deck 2, can passengers watch as they board the pilot boat, then when they are on the ship, what do him & the captain talk about, business I'm sure, besides the pilot & captain, who are all on the bridge, are there any women who are pilots, don't worry am not gonna apply for the job, don't think you would want me as a pilot. What are the benefits & pitfalls, an after bein a pilot, would you change jobs, an go back to workin in the stores, or any other job? Got to thinkin about the pilot today, an thought maybe someone here would know. Thanks. Virginia

Sailed on her for our 25th anniversary in 1994. Visited Bermuda back when ships docked at Front Street and Saint George. Captain was Leif Otto Bang and Cruise Director was Kyle Dodson. Quite a thrill entering the narrow channel. She was a great ship and much missed.

Hey I remember Captain Bang, bang.
