Hey Neighbour, we're just up the QEW in Burlington. Loving your detailed review! Looking forward to more.

Hi, Serena,
How are you ? Long time no talk. Can't believe it's been a year plus already since the Freedom cruise.
You are not late at all. Heck, I am still at day minus 1 and haven't even left for the airport in the my story telling.
Which islands on the southern Caribbean cruise? We saw the Adventure when we were in San Juan.
We're sailing Aruba, Curacao, Turks & Caico's and Dominican Republic with Carnival Vista. I wish Royal would send some of their newer ships to the Southern Caribbean but i guess their ships are too big for those ports.
We also thought of doing Adventure out of San Juan but the flights were too expensive from Canada.

Hey Harry! I'm a little late to the party, but better late then never. So glad I found your report! We sailed with you on Freedom last year, I would have loved to do a Christmas sailing this year, but we're going in March on a Southern Caribbean Itinerary. I can't wait for the rest of your Trip Report!

I hate it when they change the rules in the middle of the game. The drink package should be price protected.
I agree. Royal has been known to have "dynamic" pricing on lots of things over the holiday season.
-
I remember last year around this time Royal started to raise the price of drinks by $1-$2 until the Holiday sailings were done. I was on Freedom last December and it happened a few times.
-
I'm glad you started this thread. All day I thought it was my computer. I've been changing settings and deleting cookies in my computer. Of all days, Cyber Monday the site has to go down. ugh
-
I cancelled and rebooked mine. Saved $40!

I've been noticing all the negative feed back also. We have final payment coming up for our March cruise and I'm starting to have second thoughts about keeping this cruise because of the bad reviews. We're spending more then we paid for Royal Caribbean's Allure and Harmony of the seas. I'd hate to be disappointed after spending so much.

Okay, I just heard from my TA. She said when we check in have my dh be a no show and ask them to xfer the drink package to my mom at check in. Hopefully that will work!
If anyone has any experience with this I would love to hear what happened.
IMHO they won't transfer the drink package. If your husband is a no show they have to refund it to him. Same thing happened to my hubby one year and he was a no show. They refunded his dining reservations, gratuities, port fees and taxes back to the original form of payment.

If both ships are the same price for the Ocean View Balcony I would pick Harmony in a heart beat. I have been on Harmony twice and Allure 3 times. My kids have always had a great time at the Teen Club. The entertainment is top notch on Harmony and there is so much to do for the whole family. That being said, we are going on Vista in March because those ships do not sail to the Southern Caribbean, also because of the 8 day itinerary. Which ever you choose I'm sure you will have a great time. :)

Thank you Doug!

Doug,
I hate to be a bother but if it's not too much trouble I would love to have the Fun Times for the 8 day Vista also please.
TIA

Great review! Thanks!....Did you see any live shows? If so, what did you think of them?
-
Does anyone know if there are cabs waiting at Mambo Beach to return people to the cruise ships? Cheers.
I am also wondering about this. Hopefully someone who has been there will chime in.
-
Thanks! Great review! I recognized you from your You Tube videos, which I also enjoyed very much. Do you remember what time they started Self Assist disembarkation?
-
I would love to see them also!
-
Disembarkation was pretty easy...we were docked by 7:00 and people started exiting around 7:20 I would say..i was off the ship by 8:15...u should be fine.
That's great! Thanks
-
So sorry you missed Curacao and Aruba, I would be really bummed if that happened to me also. We are doing the same cruise in March and those ports are my main reasons for booking. On the flip side San Juan and St. Maarten are great alternatives.
Do you know what time the ship actually arrived back in Miami and what time people were allowed to disembark?....I ask because we just booked flights today and I am worried we might not make an 11:45 flight out of MIA. We are flying to Canada and WestJet requires us to be at the airport 2 hours before our flight.
-
Loved your review! Thank you so much for sharing your vacation with us!....I have Vista booked in March, and also RCCL Adventure of the Seas for the same week. I've been so undecided on which one I am going to cancel and which one to keep. After reading your review there is no question we are going to sail Vista! I am so excited now! Cheers
-
Yes I'm still trying to make a decision, and I probably should ask on the Carnival Boards to get more input. I wish I could take both cruises because we got such a great deal on both.
Thanks for your opinions.

Just logged into my cruise planner and the following message appeared. It's about time they offered this. So much easier to check their cruise history and making sure they received credit for their cruises than having to call Royal to verify the information.
You can now give your child the ability to view Completed Cruises online. Simply create a username and password for Xxxx now.
Thanks for the information Ken! I Just created accounts for my kids. Everything is correct for them. It's nice to be able to keep track of their cruise points now.

happy cruiser 1234,
Perhaps you are looking wrong on the Carnival Site. I just looked at April 20, 2019 and see a lot of available Havana staterooms. When you get to the room type you will not see Havana rooms listed but select balcony and then click the arrow on the right to scroll over and see the Family Harbor and Havana rooms.
Hope this helps you get one.
We are booked on Horizon Jan 26, 2019 Havana Suite.
Ken
They are there now, thanks. I think they were down for the last 24 hours. I think they took them down when they added decks 8 and 9 aft cabins to the Havana Category.

I had the same problem. We sailed Vista in a Havana Cabana, 5231, January 28, 2017. My wife and I loved the Havana area. On the flight home, she said that she liked Havana so much, she wanted another cruise on Vista or Horizon...but only in Havana. We are booked on a cruise in January, 2018, so I wanted Horizon Havana for January, 2019. Nothing showed up on Carnival's website, so I contacted a T/A we regularly use, told him what we wanted....guess what, he had plenty of Havana Cabanas and Havana Suites available for the time we wanted. We are booked through his agency.
I am under the impression that T/A 'hold' a block of cabins, and when they do this, the rooms don't show up on the website.
Thanks, I will have to look for the T/A with the cabins. The big box T/A doesn't show them available either. However I now see form another thread that they have recategorized the Havana cabins, so it's possible Carnival just took them off to make the change. I'm hoping they come back.
Are Excursions transferable?

I don't see why not? They don't ask for ID when going on excursions. I think you could easily sell your excursion ticket to someone else.
