  1. Will be going top Nachi for 7th wonderful time next week. Service, food and beverage have always been outstanding. We always go early and never an issue getting a nice palapa. Beautiful beach and pool. Excursions available at shore. They usually get cheaper as the day wears on.

Haven't been in 18 months and the only downside is they do not take debit/credit cards. Cash only and no ATM. Perhaps that has changed?

  2. The worst part of Cruise Addiction - relapse. After 17 cruises in 10 years we thought we were strong and could control our cruising. Fully in denial we land vacationed in the Grenadines at a, gulp, all inclusive last January. A great time was had but left with a funny, craving type thing. Took a long time to figure it out. We went a full year with no cruises and no muster drills. The only cure was to book two cruises for 2018! Sailing in 7 days out West on the Glory and in November on the Regal Princess to the East.

    There. Better already!

  3. Though we did not cruise in '17, land vacation in the Grenadines, the Breeze is all time favorite just because it has all the bells and whistles and the decor is phenomenal. Two tied for second place. The Valor because of so many great memories followed by the Miracle with unique excellent layout particularly the aft pool/deck area.

  4. Not sure about free upgrades. Maybe they happen...maybe not. Upsells are a different animal. Talked to enough folks to know they happen with some frequency. However we have been dedicated CCL cruisers for a number of years. We have received one upsell offer in 9 years. One.

That was an upsell to the Owner's Suite on the Sensation from a suite. I would be more than sure that the upsells always work in the line's favor. I would like a

few more opportunities to say no thanks.

  5. We've sailed a few times always using our debit card. No issues......ever.

Holds applied as charges made on ship. Settled when we recieved statement debarkation morning. Holds dropped off seamlessly.

That's been my experience. Like my bank. 15 years with same nationally recognized bank and the only errors that have ever been made were.....mine.

  6. Valor - 5 times - A favorite. Feels like home. Tons of great memories

Miracles - 2 times - Unique. Loved smaller ship. Great layout

Breeze - 2 times - Next in 8 days. What's not to love about the Breeze?

Sensation - 2 times - Perfect ship for a short crusie.

We're creatures of habit and when we have great experinces why not do it again? Familiarity breeds comfort. We would have sailed the Valor and Miracle more if the home ports had remained on the east coast. Greatly anticipating the Valor sailing our of Port Canaveral.

  7. Does anyone know if Sandal in MoBay still issues day passes? If so, do you think it was worth it? Can you recommend any nice resorts to go to for the day. We will be stopping at that port for a day next month. It is just two of us who are adults so I does not have to be a kid friendly suggestion

    Thanks

Can't speak to Mobay but Sandals Ocho offers day passes at $85 per. Called resort and no resevations needed.

  8. Received our only up sell call for the Owner's, Captain's, Penthouse suite for our Oct Sensation cruise. Pricey but we were good with it and treated it as a once in a life time thing.

Excellent accomodations. Large living area and huge bedroom with a bath/closet area that was incredible. Two flat screens, surround sound in all rooms. Nice!

We spend a fair amount time in the cabin late afternoon and early evenings. Enjoyed it immensley. No extra perks other than a very nice welcome fruit basket and champaigne from the Hotel Director.

Let your budget be your guide. If it ain't painful do it!

  9. Done this a couple of times at several ports.

We always arrive about 10 or so. No troubles checking bags. No lines checking in. Low number boarding card or priority as it applies. We have never boarded later than 12 or earlier than 11. Most of the time we're on by 11:30 and having a nice bite on the Lido. Lines? No lines because no one's on board. Off to pick a prime deck chair by the pool an watch all the late arrivals dribble on.

Always feels like an extra day of vacation. A real nice way to spend a few hours prior to muster. Wait till 2? Where is a better place to be than on deck chillin?

  10. Sailed out of San Juan on the Victorty a few years ago. Island heavy itinerary was awesome! Love the Conquest Class in general. Have not sailed on the Liberty in a few years.

St Thomas - Long trip to Trunk can't speak about Cruz Bay.

Barbados - Accra beach was lovely. Also known as Shockley

St Lucia - If you have time...Water taxi to Anse Chasnet. Awesome beach and great snorkling. At the foot of Jade Mountain Resort. Our alll time favorite place to be.

St Kitts - Always Cockleshell Beach. Stunning drive down the ridge of the island. Nice views of Nevis.

St Maarten - We enjoy Pinel Island just off of Orient Beach via short ferry ride. Ferry opens at 9:00

San Juan - We arrived day before and stayed in the Condado area. Flights in probably all good. Flights out can be painful.

Have a great trip to some of the best islands in the Caribbean!

  11. Many cruises with CCL and only one call....

October we booked a Jr Suite on the Sensation. Really just a balcony room on this class. Received the upsell to an Owner's Suite about 1 month out. Price was right so we took it as a one-time opportunity.

In this scenario the upsell freed up a suite/balcony. We spent more on the booking as I am sure the guests did that booked the available Jr Suite. Carnival won't make these offers unless it ultimately improves their income for a cruise. I believe the free "upgrades" are indeed a rare thing.

  12. Isnt that time about normal? I have yet to get on a ship before noon.

And always in the first wave of passengers

We try to arrive at port by 10. Never have boarded latter than 11:15. Nothing better than a quick bite on the Lido and grabbing a pool side lounger to watch the late arrivals. Almost like squeezing an extra vacation day!

  13. Sorry for the OP's experience.

Adressing other comments around CCL disembark generalities seem to be not accurate. I have not sailed out of Tampa so certainly it may be a disaster there.

However after many cruises with Carnival we find the disembark quite painless.

Self assist, if you are able, is the only way to go. We have rarely been latter than 7:30 or so off the ship, in the car and driving away. That has been true for Miami, Port Canaveral, Ft. Lauderdale and Jacksonville.

Late arrivals back to port will certainly throw a wrench into the best laid plans.

  14. I also agree with southern Caribbean -Carnival Valor. Beautiful and diverse islands! If only they would add Dominica and Grenada it would be perfect!!

Sailed on the Victory a few years ago when Dominica was still on the itinerary. An absolutley beautiful island and so glad we had the opportunity to visit. The excusion to Ti Tou gorge will always be fondly remembered. Seven islands-seven days says it all.

Very close second is the Breeze 8 day sail to Aruba and Curacao. Just an awesome triup.
