  1. By using powdered egg mix instead of real eggs.

Most likely using pasteurized liquid egg to help prevent the bad stuff like salmonella etc. This is a 100% egg product. "Powdered" eggs went out sometime in late 1945.

Sailing the Breeze for second time in 3 weeks. 1st time around last March was a delightful experience. With the new, subtle, décor this is one awesome ship!

  2. Interesting review...really feel for you and the less than great experience.

We have never sailed on the Splendor so no opinion to give. We have been really blessed to have been on several cruises and never less than a solid vacation experience. One thing we have learned about the Lido buffet and cruise dining in general. Avoid the peak times of 8:00, noon and just as everyone returns from day trips at port. I guarantee looong lines. Go Anytime Dining with the MDR and just don't show up for seating right at the regularly scheduled seating times.

    Dining bliss can be found!

  3. Homeporting out of Barbados would serve this end.

Refuelling inexpensively at Tobago (if available) -or at Trinidad if necessary?

Barbados gets lots of UK and other Euro-visitors per winter: they come to stay for 2-3 weeks

    - a Southern cruise could fit in there somewhere if marketed.

These visitors are already committed to spending the $$ on air fare from UK to Caribbean

so 'the hi cost of Air' is not much of a factor

especially if if a week's cruise out of Barbados

costs the same as a week's Island Hotel bill.

    Which would you rather do?

Wanted to thank you again for your photos. I have been enjoying them for several years now!

CCL certainly is boring. Our stops are just always repeats:

Belize, Roatan, Cozumel, Costa Maya, Caymans, Bahamas, St Lucia, Barbados, St Thomas, St Maarten, Puerto Rico, Dominica, Antigua, St Kitts, Tortolla and in 23 days add Curacao, Grand Turk, Aruba and Santo Domingo. Same old same old...

I could spend countless days at Nachi Cocum and never tire of it.

We can only hope that we are blessed enough to do it all over and over again!

  4. The Conquest Class, in particularly the Valor, will always be one of our favorites as this broke us into the world of cruising. Five sails on the Valor and it will always be special to us. I liked the Miracle, Spirit Class, for the most excellent open aft section on the Lido and all of the very cool little areas to get away to.

We have sailed on the Dream and Breeze and have to say we were simply blown away with the Breeze and the nice move up with the more contemporary, upscale feel and features. Sailing on the Breeze again in a long 26 days.

Most grateful to have been on enough cruises to make a distinction. Never a less that great time regardless of the ship.

  5. Sailed on the Miracle March 9 - March 17. Short Review - Awesome cruise! Weather was great. Met many really nice folks on this cruise. Watched March Madness with great group from the BBN in the sports bar. Go Lehigh!

Boarding - Arrived at Port Everglades at 9:45. Zone 2. Happily snacking on the Lido by 11:30. Boarding started about 11:10.

Cabin - 8D #7337. Usual nice balcony cabin. Stewards, Casey and Maryfe, new our names when we first met them. Very attentive and friendly the entire cruise.

Dining - We dined on the Lido, MDR and Nick and Nora's. Will rate the food at consistently very good to excellent. Changes noted in MDR menus but lot's of great choices remain.

Ports - St Maarten: Spent the day at Pinel Island. Very nice family oriented beach though it is clothing optional. Many land based guests and few cruise guests. Two good restaurants. First ferry of the day does not leave till 9:00

St. Lucia: Pigeon Island. Two beaches. First, and best, rented out to Wind Star ship pax for the day. Second beach is small but good. Beautiful views across the bay. Many interesting ruins on the island

St. Kitts - Always Cockleshell Beach, more currently known as Reggae Beach. Fun crowded beach. Good food and Wilber the 700++ pound pig.

Wilber's stature seems to have increased over the last couple of years.

Best 45 minute drive with outstanding views along the way.

Ship arrived back at Port Everglades at a very early 5:00. Announced by Captain day before. Due to 7 ships in port on Saturday. Self assist disembark started at 6:30 and we were off and in car by 6:45.

We had a great time and all of our expectations were met or exceeded. No complaints at all.

  6. The southern islands......awesome! Can't wait to get back in March.

When we sailed Victory it was seven islands in seven days including Dominica which is absolutely spectacular. Too bad CCL doesn't stop there anymore.

The Miracle 8 dayer with four sea days and three of our very favorite islands:

    1) St Lucia is our favorite. Beautiful Island with great beaches, black sand included, very good snorkeling at Anse Cochon and Anse Chasenet. Jalouise and the Pitons. Throw in Marigot Bay and it just doesn't get any better.

    2) St Kitts and spending the day at Cockleshell Beach. Nevis in the distance. The drive there down the spine of the island with the Caribbean Sea on one side and the Atlantic on the other.

    3) Dominica is so much like Hawaii without the beaches. Volcanic paradise.

    4) Barbados and more of the best beaches like The Crane and Accra. Want to return here the most! Did not see all we wanted to.

Least favorite? Can't think of one.

  7. One of the finer parts of any aft balcony is enjoying it at night, late, or just before the sun rises in the morning. The sea and stars......

Have you ever watched for shooting stars, dimly lit islands in the distance or passing ships?

March can't get here soon enough!

  8. We're almost three years removed from our Victory cruise now. DW and I still rate as our all time favorite cruise. Spent time looking at pics just last night. We had an unbelievably great time!

Hope each of you yet to sail have the experience of a life time!

  9. I am so excited about this place, it seems to have everything we want! I did not book us for para sailing becasue I don't have the funds right now... My question is, will there be spots open for para sailing the day we get there?

    Thanks!

On our last visit there were maybe 60 guests and there was plenty of opportunity to do whatever you'd like. They do not, however, accept anything but cash for the extra acivities. This made it a bit inconvenient for us as we just don't carry a lot of cash with us at the beach.

  10. We were last at Nachi Cocom last October. There was nary a bug in sight! No problems then.

I have read lots of trip reports and really didn't see any reports of sand fleas at Nachi. However there were a lot of problems reported in Belize and Roatan but ,again, we did not have any issues. Maybe just lucky or maybe it's seasonal.

  11. Just booked our 2nd visit to Nachi Cocom today! Will be in Cozumel on March 12.

We had a blast last October. Very peaceful and relaxing. We don't drink at all but we really hurt 'em with the diet coke and bottled water! The food is very good. $49 per person? I have spent a whole lot more and enjoyed myself a whole lot less. This is a great way to spend a port day.
