Hey Dave how is the 18-105 for portraits? Using my nifty-fifty with its manual zoom feature, (three steps forward three steps back) gives me great shots, but a real zoom would be a plus. Just haven't been able to save enough for the 70-200

Hey I swore I saw a white one when it first came out, it looked really sharp. I have the silver due the price difference when I bought it. I like having something a little different from everyone else to keep track of it.

I recommended the TG-4 based on she wants to play in water with it, the Sony is way better for pictures for sure size is great something you can use year round not only for vacation

Sorry it doesn't have a view finder, kicks butt with what it has

Right at $300 is the Olympus TG-4 will be your best bet for everything you want. Google it and might find a used or refurb for alittle cheaper

I went and did it, but the biggest problem for me is I did something wrong when I downloaded my entire catalog from three computers. It all came across only by date so I will be spending lots of time trying to get things where I want them. Love it so far

I was worried about my 300mm being to long enough for the wildlife so I rented a super tele that would take me 6 years to save for and I was so happy, it cost me alittle over $100 for the week. I now do every time I go somewhere special.

That's the one. The number you are looking for is RK12M-E. The link is for the right lens, just with the -SIL color extension.
-$80 makes the silver even shinier!

I bought one for my last cruise, was worried about it being manual, but easy peasy what a great buy, I have never used a super wide angle before, I was a loser, now I AM A WINNER!!

So what were your go to lens there? Did you use any of the kit lens?

Has anyone used the LAE4 adapter with their A6000? I can get one for a good deal, but can't find solid information if it a must if you have for your bad if you have other A-lens.

Got Amazon notification that the A6300 will ship on 3/10 with delivery on 3/11. I'll try to test it out this weekend and post a review.
I also broke down and bought used the 70-200/4.... So My A6300 set-up will be the 10-18, the 24/1.8, the 50/1.8 and the 70-200/4. That should keep me well covered for all my uses with native lenses.
If you want a good test let me give it a whirl when I go to Cancun in September :)

Alaska is a photographers paradise, I would rent the 70-200 f4 lens, its not much and the pictures will be much sharper. Yes its puts a larger lens on a small camera, (I have the same) but I would not hesitate to rent one. The last time I went to Alaska I rented the 70-400G for my A57, yes it was heavy but there is no way I could of got the quality of pics with my kit lens.

I mainly use Picassa and Elements 12 for my photos and thinking of upgrading to PSE14 for the cost verus the creative cloud monthly fee. I tend to shoot 100's of pics at a time and get lazy trying to go through them all. I heard if I use lightroom it will go through all my catalog and give me the effects I commonly use all at once. If that is the case that would make my life so much easier. I just hate to rebuy programs on a yearly basis.

I went ahead and bought acouple of cards so if tempted I could try it out. Its a high end video setting and finding a program to download to for cheap is hard to find. I use one the lower settings and am very happy

Going to Cancun in September, doing ruins, turtles, some jungle. Thinking about renting the FE 70-200 f4, will this be overkill for what I am doing or will the kit lens suffice? I took the kit to Belize last fall the pics were good but my bird shots were hit and miss. The last time I went to Alaska I rented the 70-400 G for my A57 and I was WOW, I was wondering if the 70-200 would give me the same reaction.

Please, I did not mean to say the A77 is a poor camera, it is not but like Dave said the newer
Tech and size makes the A6000 fantastic. I was on the Alaskan cruise with Dave and lugged around the Sony 70-400G lens. I got great shots but it was Heavy!!!, bought the A6000 on my next cruise and it was a delight small great pictures, it just doesn't have IBIS so I can use all my Alpha lens.

Most of us have gone from the full size A77 to the A6000, yes the A77 is a great camera no doubt, just spend a weekend with a mirrorless and you wonder why didn't I do this sooner.

Thanks Dave, still don't know if it worth the cost without Stabilization. So my son is safe from me poaching my lens from him. I now hope with the new 70-200 f2 the f4 will fall in my reach :)

Been following Dave's advise for several cruises since I met him on a Foodie cruise to Alaska, He is right on with what to bring to get all the enjoyment from your trip. Now I have a question which might of been answered pages ago. I been asked to do a friends daughters Senior year in Portraits, I really don't like doing these things since I know there is alot I don't know about Portraits. I don't have a flash and don't use the one on the camera, I compensate with my settings and get what I want. I giving myself alot of pressure since these pictures will follow this young lady the rest of her life. Should I spend the money on a flash I don't really think I will use after ( and Learn how to use it) or buy some Flash bounce cards for the onboard flash? The main problem will be she is in Marching Band so I have a list of night shots in uniform and performance to shoot. Any help would be nice
