  1. Looking for recommendations for a good local boat tour that will make stops for good snorkeling. We're sailing in on Odyssey on Jan 10th. I see a few options on trip advisor but curious what others would recommend.

We stayed in 16702.  One of the worst rooms ever due to movable wall to the OS to the left.  It leaked noise like crazy even though neighbors were talking in normal levels.

But if you are sailing with family than maybe ok.  The room behind has more of a traditional door and never heard a peep of the family of three.

I've only read one or two reports over the years of people booking both and opening the wall.

There is a wrap around balcony but they put in a door divider as it turns the corner which even in Port is a safety hazard as it acts like a sail when not latched.

Thanks. This is really helpful, I hadn’t thought much about the balcony being forward.

  3. First time looking at NCL and myself and our TA are a bit confused about connecting cabins in the Haven.

On deck 16, the H2 Deluxe Owners Suites... deck plans show them connecting to the Penthouse cabins 16704 and 16104. Do they also connect to the H3 OS 16700 and 16100? Some older YouTube videos mention a foldable wall between the H2 and H3 cabins. Has anyone done this with larger family groups? Any clarity and recent first-hand experience would be helpful here.

  4. I appreciate the honest review. For us it still sounds like a winner, my wife is a big fan of ice cream and cow-themed decor, and we're no where near Diamond level so the suite lounge access and the free ice cream sound pretty cool. I hope those rooms are still available the next time we're looking for a cruise.

Does anyone have a list of what ships offer this "sweet" and what the stateroom numbers are?

Dang, is this accurate?  Not sure how I missed this.   I love the Viking Crown lounge, but now it appears that only a tiny section is available for standard guests (Cosmopolitan club), and it’s shoved to the rear.  Do they open up more in the evening for the DJ, music  and such?

This would be such a disappointment, we love going up to the Viking Crown lounge.

  6. Wife and I are on Navigator of the Seas ABC cruise and will be in Curacao on April 3rd.

We're interested in trying SCUBA diving but we have zero experience. Several dive companies offer into/try/beginner courses that look great, only takes a few hours and costs around $100. Does anyone have any recent experience with this sort of thing our would recommend a specific company for this?

  7. Wife and I are looking at the Aug 28 sailing on Majesty to Cuba. We'll be brining another couple who have never cruised before and are trying to decide on the best room on this ship, on this itinerary.

Since there are no balconies we are looking at a jr suite or perhaps even the grand suite. My concern is, as this is RC's oldest ship there don't seem to be many suite perks, is going up the the GS worth the $500 premium over a JS?

Insides and oceanview are also being considered for the value, as we're traveling with friends we plan to spend time outside the room hanging out with them.

Those who have sailed on Majesty recently and or frequently, what say you?

  8. My wife and I will be on the 3-day leaving Miami on January 8th. I'm looking for any tips, tricks or favorite things to do on board or in Cococay or Nassau. Are there any "hidden areas" or best places to eat on the Majesty?

We're also considering the premium drink package, are they still offering the BOGO 50% off when you get to the ship?

  9. I would think IMHO if you wanted anything at any Michelin level you would avoid any mainstream line. May one of the luxury lines Silversea, Cunard etc. would be more on that high-end level.

Personally I've never dined at any restaurant on a Michelin level, It's just never lined up in the budget that way. Not that I wouldn't spend it if I could :-)

  10. Holland American (all of them) have the BEST food. From duck to desserts. Not a lively cruise ship like carnival but relaxing, and great food, service, people very friendly, etc. Cant wait to go on a princess (cheap/undecided) over Feb. break!!

Now that is the perfect answer I was looking for. I know there will be other opinions, but that's what I want to hear.

And I didn't much care for the atmosphere on the carnival boat, I was never much into the MTV spring break style of things anyway.

  11. Just a thought....but is there a chapel on board any of the cruisers?...not that I need one...just wondered!

Most ships have a chapel. Usually a cool name "starlight chapel", "vista chapel" something like that. Often towards the top decks. I believe it's a traditional thing to have a chapel on board.

  12. I haven't been around as much as others here on CC but I'm really curious about this.

I don't want to hear how the quality has gone down. I want to know, currently (past year or so) which line taste the best.

Sailed on the Freedom of the Seas in January and was very happy with the food options, although that was our first cruise so there was probably a reality distortion field in place.

Sailed on Carnival Imagination in November, food was not good. I wouldn't say terrible because I'll eat just about anything when it comes down to it. The stuff in the MDR wasn't anything better than Applebee's. The buffet reminded me of what my small rural college was like the last few days of the semester :-(
