Prior to our first cruise on Cunard, there was a video of Commodore Bernard Warner and he said Cue-nard, so that is how I have been saying it since. I have heard both Cue-nard and Koo-nard though.

Well done sfred for the imaginative thread! How wonderful to think back to those times!

Years ago, we were on QE and brought microwave popcorn and we asked a crew member in the Lido and they were able to pop it for us. It was great but I don't know if they would do it now.
-
Thanks for all the input and experiences!
We are leaning to just keep the cruise as it is as it is to Norwegian Fjords and we have never been to that area.

I didn't have a suitable dress (I wear silk kaftans for formal nights) but there was an online warehouse sale on my favourite brand so I was able to pick up a gorgeous one at a bargain price (I love a good bargain!). I was chuffed to receive a couple of compliments on my outfit.
I would love to try kaftans! Would you mind telling me the brand as I have no ideas of good brands? Thank you in advance! Would also love to see a picture!

Dear Kathi, I am so glad to hear from you! It is great news that you are cancer free! You are a very strong woman and we all love you!
I am so glad to hear that you will be enjoying your next cruise in March and it was so heartwarming to hear how your friends will be there to help you! It will be a great first step towards 2025 and many others. I also look forward to your trip reports and photos because I love your perspective.
Thank you again for dropping in to tell us how you are!

Thank you both for the info.
I am trying to figure out if I can save my deposit by transferring a booking to a higher price cruise and will email Cunard and see what they say.
-
Hi, I have never had to consider cancelling a Cunard cruise and was wondering if I could pick your brains before I approach Cunard.
The time has passed for losing the deposit so am trying to figure out what my options are. Can I transfer the deposit to another cruise and what are the ramifications of that?
Any help will be appreciated greatly!

Thanks for the sailaway and see you next time!

COFFEE CHAT
Executive Housekeeper Shiv was the guest at Coffee Chat. He introduced all his principal assistants. Shiv mentioned that due to the variation in crewmembers’ contract lengths it was impossible to handpick a world cruise housekeeping team as they had in the past.
Shiv was described by Kimberly as a man who “knows how to get things” like Red from the movie Shawshank Redemption Shiv introduced his management teamA TASTE OF TAMARIND
Throughout the cruise, there will be about thirty special pop-up dinners in the Pinnacle Grill. Here is the list
The first pop-up of the cruise, A Taste of Tamarind, was held this evening, and we joined our fellow Californians Alan and Sharon in the Pinnacle Grill.

The food was all delicious – especially the steak which I highly recommend
WORLD STAGE
Dave and Dawn Meyer performed on the World Stage this evening. Dave plays the Xylosynth, a combination of a Xylophone and a synthesizer, while Dawn dances alongside in darkness while twirling an illuminated cape and wands.
Dave Meyer playing the Xylosynth Dawn Meyer dancing with her illuminated capeDave performed a variety of songs including Teenage Wasteland, Saint Thomas and the Orange Blossom Special.
The food and entertainment look great! Judy, I love that top!
Thank you Pete for your wonderful blog! You are such a value!

When you use the Diamond benefit for the Lido events, do you pay the extra above the benefit?

Welcome home to Australia, @alibabacruisers! Glad you had a nice voyage.
Mrs sfred and I were also lucky to get off QE in Barcelona after 36 nights as healthy as when we stepped on. We didn't notice as many health issues amongst the passengers during our voyage. We took the usual precautions in ports and on the ship, and also maintained anti-malaria precautions of insect repellent and preventative doses of gin and tonic (🙂). Perhaps the G&Ts worked on covid too?
Where/when is your next Cunard adventure? Disembarking and returning to home life seems a little easier when there's a future voyage to look forward to.
Thanks sfred! I also was healthy for the cruise but husband had a little bit of cough towards the end, but was ok. That is interesting about the anti-malarial precautions vs insect repellent. Still have never tried G&T, but maybe next cruise.
We have booked QV for 2025 South America and also QM2 2025 Fjords, both for my hopefully impending retirement 😉 How about you? What is coming up for you?

We are happy to be home after 8 days in Barcelona and 34 days on QE. There was quite a bit of coughing most of the cruise with people still not covering their coughs, not using the hand sanitizer and blaming everyone else. Early on we almost were not going to be allowed without masks at one port (forgot which one) because of covid cases, but then they changed their minds...hmmm. Luckily, we did not get sick and are still ok.
I hope you are doing well woorimbeachlady.
