  1. We are also balcony door open sleepers and I will now reconsider the impact that it has on our neighbours. We usually sail with our friends beside us and they have never commented on it howling.

The A/C in the room goes off as soon as the balcony door is open on most ships though. That said, there is no defense against humidity with it off. I certainly don't want the fire alarm going off at any time!

Thank you for the valuable thread!

  2. Hi towel-animal,

First off, your bug caught my attention - very creative!

As to your code share question:

We are Canadian and frequently have a domestic leg that has always been in business class when Regent books for us.

Our return from the Monte Carlo to Venice cruise involves a codeshare situation that is business all the way even though it is Swiss VCE-ZRH-YUL and Air Canada YUL - YVR.

I hope you have good luck with this too!

  3. I asked at destination services and reception. I will also confirm/clarify with the GM when I see him.

There are several crew bikes on board and luggage restrictions aside, there doesn't appear to be any reason why a passenger could not bring their own bike on board. They have seen other sports equipment: golf clubs, surfboards etc.

It sounds as if you would be breaking new ground with a bicycle.

The two individuals at reception both agreed that your bike would be stored for you.

We are in Liverpool today, without my bike! :D

  4. Last night we took a private tour to the Military Tattoo that included dinner with Scotch tasting and excellent seats. It was a highlight for all four of us! There are two shows on Saturday nights and the last show would have been a wet one! The rain started as the lone piper was closing the show.

Our tour today is a wet walk of the pubs of Belfast. The forecast does not indicate that the rain will let up so our plans might change to a visit to the Titanic experience. I can see it from our suite.

I will have an answer to the bike question for you today.

  5. A bike takes up less space than a wheel chair. The balcony would be an easy place to store it.

We have enviously seen them on tenders several times.

I would suggest that you confirm it with Regent and enjoy the freedom!

I could ask if you want, since we are on board the Voyager right now.

  6. Hi everyone. Sorry it has been so long since I updated you. We have been busy! All is good on the Voyager.

The Internet was spotty all day as we rounded the north side of Scotland.

Tomorrow we are off to the Military Tattoo at Edinburgh castle. The excursion was sold out so we booked it independently. It will be a long day!

The food and entertainment are all of Regent's high standard. We have dined once at Sette Marie, once at Prime 7, 2 times at Signatures and once at Compass Rose. We cannot complain about the service or the great food.

My DH won the blackjack tourney today and so far we haven't given it back to the casino but time will tell!

We have nothing but positive comments and would be pleased to answer any questions.

  7. Hi all!

We stayed at the Landmark Hotel in a beautiful suite, had an excellent breakfast and an uneventful 2 hour coach ride to Southampton. Embarkation was swift and we were in our rooms efficiently. Because the luggage was sent hours before the coaches, it arrived in our rooms before we did.

We decided to have dinner in Sette Marie tonight followed by the introductory show. We were underwhelmed by the vocalists but Aaron and Prudence gave us a snippet of what we can expect from these talented aerialists.

The casino wasn't good to us but that's part of the fun!

We are happy to have a sea day tomorrow to settle in and reduce the jet lag.

It is great to be back on board!

  8. We leave in 2 sleeps for London to board Voyager on Monday for 12 days. We booked over a year ago to get our favourite location; aft facing Penthouse C. This cruise has been sold out for quite some time.

The weather looks more than dicey - did any of you see either British Open? - rain and cold! It's odd packing cool weather clothing. Only one pair of shorts, no sundresses, many layers topped off with rain gear. sigh! I just don't want chilly wet weather to prevent us from enjoying everything this great itinerary has to offer. We are from Vancouver so we will be prepared!

I will be happy to answer your questions but I am not prepared to spend my valuable vacation time making this thread a priority. Also, if ever I feel that I need to duck from comments that I know could come my way, I will bid you all au revoir! Until then, ask away!

In preparation for your first question... we love the aft cabins particularly because of their huge covered balconies and we are not sensitive to the vibration that apparently exists there.

  9. We are also Canadian and have 2 Regent and one Uniworld booked in the next year.

It is difficult when we receive promotions from other cruise lines with Canadian pricing.

It is not Regent's responsibility to help us with the currency fluctuation but I thought they might have something in place from a business perspective. Our TA contacted Regent to see if anything can be done for the one that we have final payment looming in the next couple of months.

    The response:

There is, in fact, a special pricing offer available exclusively to Canadian residents called The Canadian Special Pricing Promotion. Unfortunately, this promotion applies exclusively to selected winter sailings that are weak on the Voyager and the Mariner. We would, of course, be pleased to qualify you for this new discount if you were to switch over to a January, February, or March sailing on the Mariner or Voyager that qualifies.

That doesn't help us much :(

Hopefully, our dollar will improve and prevent us from making the same decision.

In the mean time, come support our economy and enjoy the tourist benefits that our weak currency will give you! ;)

  10. We book the aft suites whenever we can.

We have stayed in 675, 878, 975 and booked in 679 in September.

If there is a vibration we obviously enjoy it!

Our highlight was sailing through the Suez canal with the TV bow camera showing us where we are going and the lovely aft view from the balcony.

The balconies are deeper than the ones on the side and they get progressively deeper with each deck because of the angle of the stern. There is lots of room for 2 loungers out there! :)

  11. I would hardly say the RC Arts is within walking distance of Sagrada Familia. Unles one wants a very long walk.

But, it had a Hop-on-Hop-off bus stop right out front. It is a great way to see the city, including a stop at La Sagrada Familia.

Enjoy your time in Barcelona - one of our favourite cities!

  12. We are just off the Star Pride. We did two back to back cruises; Istanbul/Istanbul (Black Seas) and Istanbul to Athens.

It is amazing to me how hard the maintenance crew are working to bring this ship up to Windstar standards. We noticed a difference over our almost 3 weeks on her.

This appears to be a good acquisition for Windstar and would not hesitate to sail on the Star Pride again.

I would be pleased to answer any questions you have.

  13. We have no problem with the internet in our aft suite. It is quick, easy to connect to even here north of the Arctic Circle. We have not needed to go to the computer room.

We often hear about vibration complaints in these suites but we are not experiencing that at all. Our suite door is open so we can enjoy the sound of the water and surprisingly, it is not too cold! The constant daylight is very unique - it is 10:30 PM and very bright! Fun!!

We were blown away by the afternoon Broadway show by R.J. The Jean Ann Ryan group pales in comparison to his talent.

This cruise continues to meet our high expectations!

  14. I am officially crossing land of the midnight sun off my bucket list!

We had a magical day in Bergen. It was unusually warm -yippee! We went to a small island restaurant that serves a meteorological menu, meaning that the ingredients are according to the weather and what the sea has to offer that day. Today it was amazing cod that was swimming this morning. Fantastic!
