  1. Hi we are currently on the freedom of the seas and our itinerary was just changed to Costa Maya and Cozumel.

Can someone please tell me the best way to get to the beach area that has the massages on the beach? I can't remember the exact name of the place I want to go. There was a beach, plenty of massage tables, and a few open air shops. The very built up when we went there years back but the massages were wonderful.

Can you also tell me how much they charge now for the massage and what is a fair tip.

Arriving tomorrow so immediate responses would be great.

    Thank you

    Nancy

  2.

Does anyone know if you can still add an Onboard Credit to someone's account that is sailing within a couple of weeks?

I do not see that option in the Gifts menu anymore.

You used to be able to buy an onboard credit, casino cash, etc. to be placed on a passenger's account as a gift from you. I used to always place a $100 onboard credit to a friend's sea pass account as a surprise for them.

Am I missing something or is the option to do that not available anymore?

Thanks for your help in advance.

  3. Well, we don't live there, but 10+ cruises out of Port Canaveral I think counts as some degree of "experience". The cruise parking at the Radisson seems safe to us & we have done it many times. It is beside and behind the hotel. We have never actually used their shuttle for debarkation. We usually call & arrange a cab the evening before and have them pick us up beside the hotel at the convention center. We like to avoid the lines and shuttle hassles. Upon return, we have used their shuttle. They do continuous loops and you just grab one and go. We have also tried the cab route on the way back, but do not go over the cab pick up that the porters direct you to. They charge way more. We call when we are debarking and meet in front of the terminal.

We like Grills & Fishlips for dinner, they are on the causeway and you can watch the other ships sail away the evening before.

Again, these are just our observations based on our apparently limited experience.

You mentioned Fishlips for dinner. Have you ever had dinner at Squid lips? If so, was it good? Someone mentioned this restaurant to me.

I wonder if Fishlips and Squidlips are the same restaurant or related to each other?

  4. If you stay at the Radisson with their stay and cruise package, where is your vehicle parked while on the cruise? Is the parking area safe enough for the car to be left there for a whole week?

How does the Shuttle process work when returning from the cruise? Do they come to the port at a specific time, do you have to call them from the port, or do they just make loops back and forth from the port/hotel?

How do you reserve seats on the shuttle when going to the port? Id it first come/first served or can you reserve a time slot when you check in?

Other than the hotel, any recommendations on restaurants for dinner the night before the cruise that are not totally overpriced?

Thank you in advance for your help.

  5. My am not tech savvy but my plan is to use wifi only to make voice calls. I signed up and got a google voice phone number. I will forward my calls to this number while onboard. I can then hear all voice mail thru google voice. To make voice calls, I downloaded hangout app and will make calls with the Google voice number. It is working at home but I need to "practice" more before we sail. If anyone sees any problems with my plan please let me know! I have three doggies that I need to check on while away!

I am being told that you must have an "Android" phone to use hangouts and Google Voice and that the Apple iPhone does not have access to these Google options? I'm trying to find out if there is something out there that is compatible and will work between an iPhone and Android phone.

  8. I am hoping to use google voice and hangout to make phone calls back to the states while on the ship. Do you think that the connection will be strong enough?

I have a couple more questions if someone can help. I just feel so out of sync with all of these new ways of surfing, texting, etc. on the ships now.

    1. Is there a way for me to place a voice call using Voom wifi without Data charges from an iPhone to an Android phone?

    2. What about texting? Can you text someone using Voom or is not included because you are using cellular data?

Also, can I use Facetime using Voom wifi to facetime another iPhone without data charges?

Thank you in advance once again.

  9. I am very confused about this new "Voom" internet. I am hoping that someone could please help me to better understand what I need.

I have an iphone, ipad mini, and laptop. I am sailing on the Freedom of the Seas in a few weeks.

We are sailing to St. Thomas, St. Marteen, and Coco Cay. It is my understanding that while we are in St Thomas, I can use my ATT iPhone to make phone calls, email, and texts without roaming charges because we are in a US entity. It would be just like using my phone on US soil. I have also been told that it is the same for my iPad, and laptop. I have Verizon for email and internet on those devices.

    Am I correct so far?

Now, I have already purchased the Voom surfing package to use on the ship while sailing and on the ship while in the ports. But I am very confused at how this works.

I am assuming that VOOM is actually "WiFi". Does that mean that I can use the Voom for surfing the internet, sending text and pictures, and sending email WITHOUT using any of own DATA? My iPAD and phone both have WiFi and ATT available on them. Would I just need to make sure that I am using the VOOM WiFi and not ATT while on the ship?

Also, I did not purchase the "streaming" part of the VOOM package because I was not sure if I would need it, but I am hoping that someone could please explain why I might need to use the streaming part of the package so I can change my package if needed.

Now, just one more question if you can stand it. Can you use a ROKU stick in the TV's on the ship with the VOOM package or is that not an option? I wouldn't want it for my laptop or iPad, the screens are just to small, but it would be nice if you could use it on the TV's to watch Netflix?

Thank you in advance for everyone's help on these questions. There was a time when I knew all the answers. But now technology is just getting to far advanced for me to keep up without help from others.

  10. Does Bernard's tour still stop at the open air craft market on the French side of the Island? The last time I took his tour we stopped for about an hour at this marketplace. They actually had some very nice items for sale and also a separate area with local artisans selling their wares. We loved it there and bought quite a few trinkets there.

I have not seen any posts about this stop on the tour so I wonder if it is still a stop on the tour?

  11. I am Looking at both of these ships for a last minute cruise. The itineraries are not as important to me. I just want to know if anyone that has been on both these ships have a preference of one ship over the other and why.

I have been on the Oasis before, but not the Allure. I know they are sister ships, but is one better than the other?

I have to make my decision this week so any information that anyone can offer would be very much appreciated.

    Thank you in advance.

  12. I always bring insulated liquor bags. They normally hold 2 bottles.

You can buy them at the liquor store or Bed, Bath, Beyond.

After I put the bottles in the insulated bags, I wrap the bags up with bubble wrap and packing tape.

I always pack them in the "middle" of my suitcase between some clothing.

I have been doing this for years and I have never had a leak or broken bottle.

    Good Luck!

  13. If you have took the Onboard Credit as part of the 123 Go Perks, can you use that credit to put toward your gratuities at the end of cruise if you still have credit left?

Does the cruise line still allow you to cash out the balance of the credit by using it in the casino as credit on your sea pass and then cashing out whatever is left on your slot ticket or chips for cash?

Also, even though the $150 credit is per person for a total of $300, can you have the entire $300 credit applied to one sea pass and credit card or does it have to be divided into the 2 sea passes and two different credit card accounts?

    Thanks
