  1. Hi I'm on board with you. Thirty cases so far but glad to see they've gone into full lock down straight away & can hopefully contain it quickly. Hope you're enjoying the shows, so far fantastic. We had a mini CC meeting just six of us!

Loving the shows, but the queues and the waiting to get into the auditorium have been stressful, there must be a better way to organise this. Worst still is the fact that there are not enough seats and some people have to stand. After all, we are all here for the music and with the expectation of getting a seat.

We also saw people reach over the cordoned off area to grab food with their hands, too much in a hurry to wait to be served. What chance do we have:( enjoy the rest of the cruise:)

  2. We are on board the Radiance of the Seas and since lunchtime today there has been major cleaning all over the ship. They are running a documentary on the viruses continually on tv and have advised passengers that there is a small number on board with suspected Norovirus infection.

Hopefully it will be contained soon. :(

  3. I am trying to complete the guest information form for my upcoming cruise in 2017 but the system will not accept my input. Have contacted PG office and was asked to email the information to them and they will process it. I don't understand why I can't input it myself.

I don't even know if there are more pages or just 1 and if there are more pages, what the required information is needed.

PG advised my fabulous TA that they would like the information prior to final payment.

I was also advised that Paul Gauguin does not post final documents to Australia, only e-documents are available outside USA. Why?

    Thanks in advance any help:)

  4.

This question recurs often enough that there needs to be a more user friendly "key" on the Website.

    Mike Moore, what say you?

    I agree:)

Thank you all for your replies, I thought it could be something they did not want to disclose, which could mean a negative.

  5. I am about to book a cruise on Sirena for Feb 2017. It looks like a lovely itinerary.

Considering a B1 cabin on deck 6. Looking at the deck plan it shows 6020,6022, 6023 and 6025 with an * and the explanation is "Special features".

I am hoping someone will be able to advice what this means.

Thank you in advance for your help :)

  6. It sounds like the agent just passed on the OPs credit card details to RCI, who then charged the deposit to the card.

That is exactly correct. The TA just sent it straight to RCI, if I pay through the TA they charge 1.1/2%, so, in future I'll use 28 degree CC and insist that it is passed to RCI direct.

Very disturbing experience, no wonder they will not divulge an email address or phone number for RCI Australia. Wonder how much tax RCI pays in Australia.

  7. I would query this surcharge too. It wasn't the Captain one was it as they are notorious for charging fees

    No it was not.

I have now queried, in a nice way. Specially as we cancelled the original booking and re booked to get the OBC advertised. So now it looks like we paid the original deposit, there will be a refund which no doubt the bank will reduce, and then paid the second deposit. It all adds up at the end.

  8. Literally, RCL do state it in their booking terms, to cover themselves from this question.

Of course, many would not think they need to read through the terms for this, but that's the legal response.

A few ways, in the specific situation.

If you book through an Australian travel agent, they all process locally as far as I know - though many will also charge a credit card fee (but not all).

Alternatively, different banks have different arrangements. It's probably 50/50 as to whether they charge for overseas transactions in AUD.

Or of course it can also be avoided by paying direct debit (bank transfer) if going through RCL.

I did book through an Australian travel agent, no mention about the 3% charge.

  10. We booked a cruise on the Ovation for 2018 and paid $200 pp deposit on ANZ CC.

My bank statement shows the charge plus 3% overseas transaction fee. We booked in Australia, price is in AUD,with RCI Aus via Australian travel agent.

According to ANZ it was processed in Miami :confused:and it is up to the merchant to advise it's customers that a fee will be charged.

How should we, as consumers know where the payment will be processed in this age of globalisation?

Is this only ANZ? Or do other financial institutions do the same? Any suggestions to how avoid this fee?

    Any advice is appreciated :)

  11. We were on the Shadow, from Tokyo disembarking in Hong Kong Oct 18.

From the unpleasant and unexplained, without even an offer of a bottle of water, lengthy delay in the ship arrival in Tokyo , considering that all contact information was available to Silversea, why bother asking:confused:, to the poor quality, constantly repeated ingredients and minute size of servings in the restaurants, I was even served once an asparagus spear cut in half lengthwise. Maybe it was too thick for the policy, the norm being 2 of the thickness of a straw.

Not to mention the quality of the wines included .

No advise or enforcement to use hand sanitisers apart from the containers placed in places.

Our hotel for the Taijin to Beijing overnight shore excursion, many$$$, was downgraded to a hotel under renovation from 4Seasons, once again no explanation, just has to be accepted as far as Silversea is concerned.

The entertainment consisted mainly of the CD and a couple of other singers commencing at 10pm. Just a bit late for us.

The only pro on this cruise was the staff, always smiling and happy. :)

This does not include officers who were invisible except at the cocktail party.

It was a very disappointing cruise, long way from being ultra-luxury as advertised by Silversea:eek:

  12. SS first timers, booked on the Shadow Tokyo to Hong Kong Oct 15. The shore excursions are now showing on our booking and available to book June 4.

Very disappointed that they are not offering a 2 day/1 night excursion, only 2 11+hours trips each including a 6 hour return bus trip. No option to go by train, no doubt much faster, allowing more time in Beijing.

Now considering a SS private tour on the first day, more $$, but hopefully having more time to experience what we choose.

I understand that we can nominate what we would like to see including part of the Great Wall, hopefully. Would we make the request for these at the time of booking? Or, SS will contact us in this regard? I would not like to book then be told "can't do this or that"

Next option is trying to find a private shore excursion from the port and return.

A bit concerned to do a long distance trip outside of the ship's tours as would not like to be left behind if we are late back for some unforseen circumstance.

Would anybody have a favourite company to contact?

Thank you in advance for any help/information:)

  13.

This is a bit OT, but for me, the problem with true formal nights is twofold: (1) airline luggage limitations coupled with lack of porterage at airports, (2) most cruise line's failure to offer included (or low cost flat rate) laundry service. Elimination of either of these factors would allow many of us older guys to do formal on cruises once again.

    Agree 100%:)

  14. There are many aid agencies/governments working with medical assistance, heavy engineering equipment etc to help repair roads and key infrastructure.

Royal Caribbean and Carnival Cruises, maybe also others, have made substantial donations to assist with disaster recovery in Vanuatu.

Hopefully by October most of the islands will be enjoyable for you.:)
