Windy. Om ? Never heard of it 🤔

Checked it out and can say that one is impressed  🙂

I had  never heard of it until we did an Antarctic expedition in January.  This is what you do not want to  see. We actually  went  right  between the two storms

What if we dont get a visa before we go on ship, can we get one on ship or when we arrive at the ports of India as example.

I have just finished applying for an Indian Electronic Visa and it  would be difficult to do on the  ship. You have to attached scanned passport style  photos and copies of your passport. These  have  to meet certain specifications that took some manipulation on the computer. There are  also several questions that  I had to do some research before answering. One example is what countries have you visited in the last ten years.

Thanks for that info.  Do you recall how far bag the middle row reclined while you were sitting in the back row?  I’ve seen a few videos and pics that looks like there’s plenty of leg and recline room in PE. Of course I also know until you’re actually on a plane those videos and pics can be deceiving.

The  seats recline 6". I am 6' tall and have  more than enough leg/knee room with the seat in front fully reclined. Just a personal preference, I would take the back row over the front. In the front you have the TV screen that folds down and no under seat storage.

Another option is to book economy and pay extra to move up to the main cabin extra seats.

Go to Seat Guru to see the specs. for the various seats. https://www.seatguru.com/airlines/American_Airlines/American_Airlines_Boeing_777-200ER_E.php

Are they giving you the option of a refund if you cancelled due to the itinerary change?

Not yet, I am trying to get in touch with my Agent right now. Fortunately for us we booked last November and can cancel up to 24 hours before the cruise and get 100% FCC. I would prefer a refund but can live with the FCC. I have already cancelled my independent air reservations and hotel in Amsterdam.

As of this afternoon, their Romantic Danube departure on the Viking Atla on December 5 has been modified with an extra day in Budapest, added day in Bratislava, and a scenic sailing day through Austria before reaching Passau and Regensburg so  it seems like they are trying to find a way to operate.

The same for their Grand European Tour. This is what they sent for our cruise that leaves 11/25.

    Date

    Original Itinerary

    Revised Itinerary

    Day 10

    Passau Passau

    Day 11

    Melk Scenic Sailing (Wachau)

    Day 12

    Vienna Bratislava

    Day 13

    Vienna Budapest

    Day 14

    Budapest Budapest

    Day 15

    Budapest (disembark) Budapest (disembark)

This and the fact that the Christmas Markets have been cancelled for all 5 stops in Bavaria has made us decide to cancel the cruise.

We are booked on Viking Vali  beginning in 2 days with extension in Amsterdam and at the end in Budapest. Cruise itself starts 11/25...I just sent chat to Viking re: Austria in lockdown for ALL starting 22nd no activities or businesses will be open. Vali has 3 days in Austria. Germany is locking down for unvaccinated but stores etc. mostly closed. Viking said the news just came out and they are evaluating and to watch for email. I'm afraid they won't cancel and we'll end up floating for days on end...

We are literally are in the same boat as you. We are also on the 11/25 sailing on the Vali. We are scheduled to leave Sunday and are going to spend 3 days independent in Amsterdam. Not sure what to do now.

Royal Caribbean Group adopts “Cruise With Confidence” policy, allowing cancellations up to 48 hours before sailing

    Friday, March 6, 2020

MIAMI, March. 6, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- With COVID-19 adding uncertainty to travel plans around the world, Royal Caribbean Group said it will give guests greater control over their vacation decisions, allowing guests to cancel cruises as late as two days before departure.

The “Cruise With Confidence” policy allows guests on Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, Azamara and Silversea to cancel up to 48 hours before a sailing. Guests will receive a full credit for their fare, usable on any future sailing of the guest’s choice in 2020 or 2021. The policy applies to both new and existing cruise bookings.

“Our previous policy set earlier deadlines for guests to cancel their cruises, and that added unnecessary stress,” said Richard Fain, the company’s chairman and CEO. “Trying to guess a month or more in advance where areas of concern about coronavirus might be is challenging for medical experts, much less a family preparing for vacation.

“When circumstances are as fast-changing as they have been recently, it’s good to know you have the option to take a rain check,” Fain said. “We think putting more control in our guests’ hands helps them make informed decisions about whether to keep their existing vacation plans or trade out for a more convenient time or itinerary.”

In addition to easing concerns for booked guests, Fain said the policy would also give consumers more confidence in making new bookings, knowing that they could later adjust their plans without penalty.

The policy applies to all cruises with a sailing date on or before July 31, 2020, and will be offered by the company’s global brands: Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, Azamara and Silversea. Full details of the “Cruise with Confidence” policy can be found at the respective brand websites.

However to put it in perspective Singapore has 102 confirmed cases following vigorous gold standard testing and contact tracing and no deaths. The USA already has 72 confirmed cases, (no mention of how many people have actually been tested)  and already have one death. This virus is worldwide and the numbers sometimes indicate how active  a country is managing the disease. Singapore seem to have a good  handle on managing and containing this.

She might also speak to her doctor, as he would likely recommend she not travel there. With a doctor’s note, travel insurance may kick in.

Thanks for the advice. We just returned from a s. America/Antartica cruise. She is working on getting a not from her Doctor. As soon as she gets it we will start working to see if Azamara will give a refund or future cruise credit. If that does not work we will try the insurance company. I am hoping that American will cancel flights to Tokyo or JAL will cancel our flight to Singapore. Then we can get a fulll refund on the airfare.

  11. I am also booked on the 4/11 cruise out of Singapore. I am trying to decide how to cancel and minimize my losses. I am booked on American through Tokyo. Hopefully they will cancel flight to Tokyo and I can get a refund. I have insurance but do not have CFAR. My quandary is do I cancel the cruise before 31 days so I can at least get 25% back or risk the 25% hoping Azamara will cancel the cruise before departure date.

My wife is diabetic and has has a bout of sepsis in the last year. If you look at the statistics these put at a much higher risk than the average person.

This was going to be our first cruise on Azamara and we were looking forward to it. I will have to think twice about cruising on Azamara in the future.

No, I'm actually waiting for someone who has perhaps stayed in a Sky Suite to answer if they all have a tub in addition to a walk in shower.

Guess Celebrity newbies cannot ask questions here?

Accessible Sky Suites have a walk in shower. All others have a tub/shower combination with the exception of 6145 and 6146 which have a tub and a walk in shower.

Well this is pretty reassuring. This is the tour company we are using in Beijing and came highly recommended. They do have cancellation policies, but I can't seem to find anything about not being able to arrive for the tour due to the ship not being able to dock for a variety of reasons. I do see they have a $50 insurance policy that would protect the price, but knowing they appear to be understandable is good to hear.

Did you have wifi on the ship so you could email as soon as you knew of the delay? Or did you have to wait until you could get free wifi at the port?

We used the ship's WiFi to notify them.
