1. Finally even the on board experience can't make up for the ineptness of Azamara management.

We've now "backed up" our next year's Azamara B2B with a nice Ocean Princess B2B itinerary. :)Still hate the idea of having to pay Azamara to cancel our cruises because their rules have changed midstream.

You should not have to pay to cancel

    They withdrew an inducement

  2. You will recall that folks got money back when land discoveries program discount changed

Azamara knows it may not change the deal after booking.

An inducement to get someone to book May not simply be removed. Look up the elements of fraud under us law I think Florida law governs

MisRepresentation of fact Can be intentional or negligent

    Relied upon

    Material

    Damages

    Contract not even needed

    No company may do this

If they eliminated free gratuities or free wine it would be no different

  3. Azamara needs to give FULL refunds for 2015 bookings based on it having materially changed benefits to passengers. Azamara may not remove benefits upon which people relied when booking and keep deposits. It's a breach of contract

We can all understand ports can change. But a cruise line may not significantly reduce amenities after taking people's money and expect to keep that money. On our b 2 b we will have lost 1000 plus internet minutes plus at least four bags of free laundry. Deal breaker I am an attorney. I need to be connected. I would never have booked without those free internet minutes

My ta will be the first to request a full refund. Expect others to follow

  4. If I could cancel my 2015 b2b without penalty I would

The ONLY benefits I cared about were Internet and laundry

I don't sail for benefits but I don't patronize companies that care so little about their customers

I will never book another Azamara cruise.

    It is a terrible organization

There are many other great options

I have asked my ta to try to cancel my two cruises without penalty. The change in terms is a dealbreaker for me

  5. Will that work if we have different last names, and email addresses. He's DF (dear fiancé) not DH. Lol

    Yes

    One cabin number

    One password

Name and email address are irrelevant

  6. Although the PH suites on the larger ships have very nice balconies, I can't imagine actually being served a meal out there, at a table. They're not really set up that way. Nor is the table that could be used for a meal close to the balcony--so you can't just open the balcony doors and pretend.

Agree. I don't think the phs are big enough to dine INSIDE the cabin unless u like using the bed as a sideboard. Cramped at best

If dining in your cabin is your thing, book a larger suite

  7. You use cabin number and password u create as sign on. One device at a time but as many devices as u have with you

As I have posted before occasionally we have experienced a glitch in the system and we can both be on at same time. Don't count on it

  8.
Your citation is the 'conventional wisdom' of 2010. Lot of water under the bridge since then.

Ironically it was Apollo who turned the Epic into a blivet of a design.

A new CEO at Norwegian in 2008 took about 10 minutes to decide the Epic was a gaff and killed the remaining orders, despite the penalties. That stuff is 4 year old news.

Today, two new large ships of a different design are successfully sailing, with two more in the works.

As mentioned above the suite experience on Norwegian has no comparison in the mass market arena. They have the formula and it works. That being done, I am sure they see the profitability of an upscale line to attract their current upscale customers.. who are bit less pretentious than some. The core mass market demographic won't give Oceania or Regent a second glance.

As I said, they would be smart not to tamper with the Prestige model, but they sure would be able to teach them a thing or two about systems, infrastructure and technology. Has RCL mismanaged Azamara?
Rccl had indeed mismanaged Azamara. It's a disaster

  9. Without knowing you it is impossible to determine. Many of us love the smaller ships and understand that there will be fewer activities to choose from than on the larger ships But I have met cruisers who tell me they are bored because there is not enough to do

I do not need to be entertained on a sea day. I am happy reading or knitting or going to maybe one activity a day.

You really have to know yourself and what suits you

  10. I love private tours and join as many of them as I can. But, the only way to assure yourself a spot is to do the organizing yourself, and that is often impossible in ports with limited resources and several organizers. There are only so many top rated guides, the groups are small by design, and unless you agree immediately to every one posted, often without time for consideration, you will find the tour full and you'll be out of luck.

The World Cruise is the ultimate challenge. With a very active roll call of at least 45 couples, private tours have been arranged in many of the over 80 ports. But, with 5 months to go, most are full. If you were on a cruise, or hospitalized or otherwise unable to respond immediately, you don't have a chance.

I'm booked on several, but nowhere near all I want to see on my only chance to go around the world. What's left are ship excursions. One needs a minimum of 25 to get the 25% discount; many of us -- almost all experienced cruisers who love private excursions -- will have no trouble reaching that minimum.

My point is that exclusively advocating private excursions can be an exercise in frustration.

The World Cruise might be different but if I were on it I'd be organizing 80 private excursions (assuming I'd want a tour in every port -- not likely). LOL In fact, I'd ask Arlene (tanny18) to go so she could organize 40 of them--- making it much more manageable.
