  1. I have been reading the accounts of not receiving refunds in the appropriate amount of time. People are angry. I am angry reading all of this. The world and cruising industry did not ask for any of this. When you sailed on SD, you all had the most wonderful time or else you would not have booked again..at 15% off on board no less, most of you. SD has always tried to make your trip memorable. Now, when the chips are reversed you all are so angry that SD can’t jump to the request for all money returned right away. I am not an attorney. Just a normal person who knows that the world is in turmoil and I give a little leeway to those that might be hurting for the time being. SD has always been my happy place, I will never fault them when times are tough. That’s all...

Glad y’all are on board Charlie. If I remember right Ohmiss does better with supervision.🍸🍸🍸😎

Hi Jim, finally able to log in after one week on board and one to go!💃🏻Thanks for your concern, my supervisors have been wonderful😂My Happy Place never disappoints! All my favorite people are aboard, which is pretty much everyone!! Mikee, Doramas, Leo, Eugene, Francisco, Capt Lund, Frud....The crossing has been great, a couple bumpy days, as we get further south the weather is warmer and seas are calm for the most part! I’m enjoying my place at the pool and enjoying the company of ctbjr and his DW. I expect an outstanding conclusion with our C&C party on Nevis! Best to you and Lois!

  4. Anyone on here coming? Haven’t been on a crossing since SJU to London in 2011! I’m looking forward to this as a much needed great escape to my happy place 🙂 Looking forward to great sleeps on the open sea, as well as putting my name back on a TOYB seat!!

Just wondering what, if any, compensation was offered to those who had booked a Cuba trip?

Why would SeaDream offer compensation for the canceled Cuba itinerary? It was out of their hands and not SD’s fault. People that were booked can get their money back or book another itinerary, I would think.

In the past a call to SD would get an answer.  Year before last we got wind of a "part charter" by a travel agent dealing in "High End Gay Travel" (from their website).  I called someone I knew at SD and they confirmed it as well as the exact number in the group (29).  We decided, since there were no children on the voyage, to go ahead.  Turned out to be one of the most fun voyages on SD.  In my book, families with children are the most disruptive.  But then I have never sailed with a bunch of Mary Kay pink cadillac winners.

Those guys were so much fun, weren’t they Jim?!! If it wasn’t for one roommate....hahaha! Happy New Year and hello to Lois! My next SD is the westbound crossing in Oct.

    All the best, Robin

  7. Hello!

OP of this thread is my DW and a I just wanted to wade in and say that I really think SD did the best they could by us. The BVI and USVI are a wreck (really sad to see) and the weather on our cruise was not helping (big swells actually washing over the boardwalk at some ports, etc.).

I think that on many occasions the representatives on the various islands were a bit too optimistic and it only became apparent that itineraries needed to change at the last minute leaving the on-board crew scrambling. That being said they made it a SD experience despite all those balls being in the air.

My take on the San Juan situation is that it is nothing more or less that a bunch or red tape by US authorities and SD being given the run-around getting everything in order. We all know that bureaucracies are frustratingly intractable and that officials don't give two hoots about your time pressures or schedules. The crew was between a rock and a hard place and did their best by us.

    Just my two cents.

YAY, you, SchnauzerPup!! The voice of reason and I am in total agreement with your assessments! SeaDream always puts their pax first, sometimes you can’t avoid red tape (or high seas) AND we all know, you can’t please certain people and those who continue not to like it should find another line.

  8. Looking back at Mrs. Tiki's post, I think I get it. They are charging you to leave. Have been in a few countries that do that (I think Belize does, if I remember correctly), but in my limited experience it is rare. Most countries are happy to have Trapper leave, and there might even have been one that paid him to do so, or at least threatened him if he didn't. Some don't even bother stamping your passport on the way out. In Mexico last week the airline stapled the departure portion of the immigration form to the boarding pass, and that was it.

Love it, you are too funny!! Yes we were charged $30 each even though we arrived at 4PM the previous day and went thru customs at 2:30. 22 hours give or take...but the agent said they go by the time the Yacht leaves. But what most do not know is the departure fee is embedded into your airline ticket fare so in essence you are paying double and there’s nothing you can do about it! I worked for the airlines, so I know this.

  9. Sounds like things are vastly better, ohmiss, if you get to wait in the SeaDream lounge instead of on a pier. What I don't understand is why this is done at the beginning of a cruise. We have never had to deal with immigration at the front end - always at disembarkation. What is different about Antigua that they have so much red tape to leave the country?

This, I believe, is because Antigua/Barbuda, although a British territory, is their own country with their own laws. Correct me if I am wrong anyone else....

  10. Hello Everyone...My SeaDream embarkation was a bit better than past postings. We were dropped off at the correct pier, but an hour early because of the long, difficult immigration procedure I had read about here. I went to the little white immigration building at the entrance to the dock. They said I had to wait until 2:00PM. There is a little bar right there, so my party waited there and had a beer. In the meantime, George (piano bar and marina guy) came and tagged all our luggage and it was taken to the ship. At 2:00 we went to the ship, boarded as usual....they are now doing the immigration and customs in the Main Salon. It still took some time, but it was out of the sun and we could have food and drinks there. So, things are improving in Antigua! Hope this helps!

  11. Also sending good wishes and great luck to you cwaj45, sorry, I know how frustrating it was for you today. We are here in Antigua at the Yacht Club. Very nice place, many SeaDreamers are here. We were lucky today because we live in Florida and escaped the bad weather. Weather here is lovely...see you tomorrow at TOYB, I am sure. Hurry off the plane to immigration. Very crowded today. You are on the same flight we were on today.

    Cheers....Robin

  12. No, it has not gotten any better. We boarded on January 4th and it took 2 hours. Bring bucket loads of patience, a hat and an umbrella for the showers and sun. Pathetic display of incompetence by Antiguan Immigration. :(

Oh my! Thank you so much for the heads up. I’ve got 5 first timers with me and I was hoping for a good experience. Now, at least I’m aware. Thanks again, Bermudabum.:o

  13. ohmiss -- Please let us know how your embarkation goes. Hopefully it is without strees as Mrs. Tiki reported. We are on the Eastbound TA Crossing in April, and will be taxing in from English Harbor. Thanks.

I certainly will, BB! I was on the eastbound to London several years ago. It was epic! I’d love to do it again!
