We'll be arriving at the Carnival dock on a weekday. I know Carnival has shops right there. But is it safe to walk out to the streets? If so, is there any shopping/food/sites right there? If not is something like that an easy cab ride? Thanks

What day of the week? Not so much to do on Sunday. And what are your port times?

1) The RC web page shows a fee for snorkeling. I *assume* that's for equipment rental. I have all my own gear, including a safety vest, can I snorkel free?
2) Whereabouts would the best snorkeling be?
Thanks

We'll be on the Independence of the Sea for a short 3 day cruise over a weekend. Is there a formal/elegant night on such a short cruise? If so, are dress slacks and a shirt enough, or will the maitre d' turn people away? Thanks

Just now, Host Clarea said:
There are formal nights and I'm not sure there is a minimum requirement to get into the MDR. Royal does not enforce the suggestions, so many ignore the suggested dress. You will see the full gamut, from shorts and t-shirts to tuxedos. I would expect that nude would not be allowed, but who knows?
There are machines on some ships that will give you play from using your SeaPass card. You can choose an amount and immediately cash out if you like.
Thank-you! Just what I needed to know.

Hi,
New to RCL. We're taking a three day weekend cruise to the Bahamas next week. 2 questions...
Is there a formal night, and what is the minimum dress requirement to be allowed into the MDR? Yes, I know RCL posts guidelines, but so many lines don't follow them. Are dress pants and a nice shirt okay? Do I need a jacket and tie?
If you need more cash in the casino, some lines allow you to get cash in the casino on your S&S and they post it as a purchase, so you don't get slammed with cash advance fees. What does RCL do?
Thanks folks!

Have been to Nassau a few times, but not in a few years now. Will be there on a Saturday in October. Question... Is it still safe to walk around say Bay street, and on up to the Fort? I've never felt unsafe in Nassau, but I'm always reasonably cautious also. It's gotten so much bad press lately, I just wanted to check.
Please, I know many hate Nassau, but I've been there. Just asking about safety.

Can you snorkel on your own in Coco cay? I have everything I need, including an inflatable vest. If so, is there much to see? Or would an excursion be better?

They, like some other operators are clearly saying that once you have completed their 'People to People' tour for the day, then you are entirely free to go wherever you want, as an independent tourist,
The carnival website says the same thing.

can you do $200
I'm answering because no one else has. A few years ago you could. As I said above, I haven't been on Carnival in a few years. Since nothing else has seemed to change, I would think (?) that is also probably the same.

What I'm mainly asking is: If I leave my phone on, with the data off, will it generate fees even if no one calls or texts me (and I don't call or text.) Meaning just leave it on if someone needs to contact me urgently.
-
Yes, texts on the ship, in case there is something urgent at home.
-
I intend to leave my 4g data turned off on the ship. If I leave the phone on in case of an incoming text, would I incur fees? Aprox what does it cost to send/recieve a text?
Thanks

We have a long daytime tour that fulfills the people to people rule. When it's over, we might like to go back on the ship to change clothes, clean up.
If we get back off, do we have to fill out a 2nd "guest affidavit for travel to Cuba?"
When we reboard after the first tour, are we required to convert our CUCs back to dollars?
And lastly, is the Visa okay for going in and out of the port all day? Or do you need a new Visa each time?
Thanks

Haven't been on Carnival in a couple of years. It used to be that you could use your S&S card to put cash in your casino account from your credit card on file. At the time it was treated as a purchase, meaning no big fees charged for cash advance. Does it still work this way?

Taking a long tour during the day. Thinking about just strolling around near the ship in the evening. Is that part of Havana safe at night, and do the stores stay open in the evening?
Thanks

How late can I exchange my CUC back to dollars in the cruise terminal?
If I don't have much left to exchange, is it cool to leave them for the ship crew as an additional tip?
Thanks

I'm on the same cruise. Hoping to see some answers, but it doesn't look promising. There are almost no reviews on the Carnival main site, so it's hard to tell.

You have a head start on me. What have you found out?
Thanks
Our family of 4 with two teens are visiting in June and want to do a walking tour with a guide and then classic cars later on. A friend visited last summer, a guy approached her party of four for a tour, they accepted, and had the most wonderful time with a walking tour first, and then a classic car tour. I would like to use the same person. Here's my worry- I have read and read on the FAQs with what we can and cannot do in Cuba now with the new US regulations that started in Nov. We did not book any component of our cruise before the date in June that it was announced. It says that a tour must be purchased through the cruise line or with a "US sponsoring organization". Clearly this guy is not. I've also seen on the cruise FAQ that if you do one of these sponsored tours, you can then freely walk around on your own.:- "you can enjoy Havana before or after your tour, as long as you are engaged in a full-day schedule of educational exchange activities as setforth by OFAC regulations"
If the non-licensed guide is planning to do an organized walking tour, and then later through him we do a classic car tour with drivers he has pre-arranged while he accompanies, does anyone know if we need to do another "US sponsored organization" led-tour first?
I have spent several hours over several days reading through what I could find, including the treasure.gov site trying to decipher what is allowed, so I figured I'd just see if anyone here feels clear on the rules.

We were 3 adults and we had the 3 hr classic convertible tour + the 3 hr Old Havana walking tour and the total cost for the whole tour was 180 Cuc.
It was really worth any single cent!
Roughly how much is 180 CUC in dollars?

Thanks folks.

Will be going to Cuba on a cruise end of October. Our passports expire mid January. Is that going to fly? I know some countries want you to have 6 months left before it expires. Does anyone know the aprox turn around time currently for renewals?

Thanks
No staterooms overlook both Boardwalk and Central Park. -
Exactly what I needed to know. Thanks!
No cabins overlook both Boardwalk and Central Park. Central Park, with its various venues is midship on deck 8. Boardwalk is aft on deck 6. If you get a Boardwalk cabin on deck 8 you will be able to see the diving show. The further aft your cabin is the better the views of the show. You will have a rather short walk over to Central Park if you want to go there for coffee, snack, or just to hang out there as it is beautiful.
Walking/shopping

We'll be arriving with Carnival on a weekday. Is there anything interesting and close enough to walk to? Wife likes shopping. I'm looking at a local lunch, perhaps a small museum or such. We went years ago and did a tour bus tour, hell, the Turtles, etc... I'm going to snorkel in Cozumel, so I won't be doing that here. Thanks.
