  1. Going on a cruise soon, anyone lately cruise out of PC. Did you have problems carrying through security 12 pack of soda or taking water on?

Oh...... never say that when you're talking about a cruise.

    >>>shudder<<<

  2. Also on their website I noticed:

    Dietary Needs:

Carnival Cruise Lines can provide our guests with the following special dietary needs: Vegetarian' date=' Low-Cholesterol, Low-Fat, Low-Carbohydrates, Low-Sugar, Gluten Free, Indian Vegetarian, and Kosher. [u']No advance notice is required; we kindly ask that you please inform our dining team so you can discuss your meal options.[/u] Additionally, we also request you advise our dining team of any food allergies you have.

    Enjoy your cruise!

    Thanks

  3. Not to be flippant, but wouldn't diabetic choices include meats and vegetables? I know there are plenty of no sugar added desserts. Enjoy!

Diabetics are supposed to consume measured quantities of carbs, fat, and protein. Because something is merely sugar free, does not automatically make it diabetic friendly. It could be loaded with fat or other carbs.

Veggies can contain a lot of carbs, especially if slathered with some type of unknown sauce.

I can do it okay from the table, just looking to see if CCL has done something to make it just a little bit easier is all.

  4. I'm not trying to be snarky here, but I'm wondering why you can't just make appropriate choices for yourself off the regular menu? I had gestational diabetes and never once asked for anything special anywhere we ate out or traveled. I just knew what I could eat. If I could make proper choices while being a temporary diabetic, surely you know right from wrong having to live with it for the rest of your life.

Well, you certainly do sound snarky. I know how to take care of myself. Thanks, I think (?)

  5. They are annoying when people park themselves near you at the pool and yap on them all day. If just for a quick check in or change on plans, and if on vibrate, I don't think it would be annoying.

HUH? The pool area is such a loud looney tune area, I don't think I would even hear someone next to me talking.

  6. BIG_Steve- make sure you check with the photography manager (once you board) about setting up the photo op on your proper proposal- I did hear back and that was their advice.

Have a blast and by the way I think it's so romantic that you're dropping down on one knee to give your wife what she missed out on 30 years ago!!

    Happy Sailing!!

I saw the post, thanks for your help!

  7. Cake and chocolate are NG. Mrs. Big_Steve has lost over 100 lbs via Nutrisystem and discipline. She wouldn't be interested in Cake and Chocolate. As far as trinkets. Well, on the night of our Anniversary I'm getting down on one knee in the Steak house and giving her the engagement ring and proper proposal she never got. I think I'm covered ;)

  8. We went on the Semi-sub, and have a hard time recommending it. There was very little to see, and the crew was bored out of their gourds. They throw bread over the side to attract fish. The fish can pretty much only be seen on that side. Several of us asked them to throw some bread on our side but they acted like they didn't even hear us.

The moderators will likely move this to the Bahamas port of call threads. You may be able to get referrals for good cab drivers giving tours. You can get tours from taxis at the dock, but it's hit and miss. Some folks have great drivers. Ours was personable and friendly, but gave the worst tour I've ever had. We zoomed around the island at highway speed, with the driver breathlessly pointing out shopping centers. Then we stopped at a Starbucks where he insisted we stay in the car while he dropped off something in a paper bag to a friend waiting behind the Starbucks  Don't want to know what was in the bag...... One of the stops was Atlantis. We paid our fare and stayed there.

  9. We renewed our vows in Dec for our 20 year anniversary. Very nice.

Also, you could order an anniversary cake and have it delivered to your room so it's there when you arrive, nice if your wife has a sweet tooth.

Actually many things you could order to have sent to your room.

    Good luck!

Had thought about renewing vows. But it sounds kind of "empty." It's just the 2 of us, no friends or family along.

  10. Hi Pokergirl :)

Most likely they would be put off the ship. And that would be their

best case scenario because they can certainly be arrested or fined

for diving off a ship while in port by the authorities at that particular

    port.

During a voyage to Grand Turk, I and hundreds of others witnessed

two women jump off the dock just after exiting the ship and swam

to the beach where they were greeted by Grand Turk port authority

    officials.

They were given fines, escorted back to the ship, confined to their

cabin, and then put off the ship at the next port.

    :)

Eh? If they left the ship properly, why would the cruise line put them off the ship at all? Let alone at a different port

  11. Found one on the seat in the theatre one afternoon. I used the "page" button, and someone answered. It was loud and clear. I explained I found the WT and told them where it was. They said "Oh." and 45 minutes later had not yet picked it up. LOL, a "gee thanks" would have been in order.

Your call, but my 14 yr old would have "lost" the WT over the side of the ship 5 minutes into their first walkabout the ship.

Someone said if you can trust your 14 yr old at home, she'll be okay on the ship. I agree, and would add that if she can't be trusted at home, the WT isn't going to help at all. But I digress, you didn't ask for life advice. Have a fun trip!

  12. Did it in Nassau. The boats are akin to a glass bottom boat. But instead of looking down through the bottom, you sit below the surface and look out windows to the side. Which you probably are already aware. Anyway. It seemed like a nifty idea. The only problem was there isn't much to see in Nassau where they run the excursion. But GT is known for better snorkeling, so I would be inclined to try it again there.

  13. Wearing latex gloves, using tissues to open doors, hitting elevator buttons with elbows! Wow you guys are certainly precautions, get on with your lives, you can take all these precautions then touch a bar mat/beer glass/table on the way into the restraunt, you only live once, jeez. Lol

I look before I cross the street, even though I know full well I could be hurt someplace else.

  14. I've been looking through threads and didn't find a discussion on this and was wondering if anyone has ever worn disposable gloves to serve themselves at the buffet or anywhere else on the ship? I've never done this or saw anyone else in my travels but thought it might be a good idea, even if it gives someone peace of mind.

I thought about it on our last cruise when we were at the buffet and there was a woman serving herself and then she went walking around to find the people she was with still with the tongs in her hand. It made me think after that, who knows where the tongs ended up and who knows where her hands were.

Haven't done it or heard of it. If I saw you doing it, I wouldn't give it a 2nd thought. People can be downright disgusting, I wouldn't blame you one bit.

  15. haha, I said the same thing to my husband and we watched the commercial. I said "you know on a ship, 4 kids are going to get on the slide and want to go down together, will be told NO and they will say - BUT WE SAW IT ON TV"

You know it's going to happen! I thought of the poor person working the top of the slide, too. I said it may not have been the best idea for a commercial.

And their parents will likely go looney-toon on the attendant.
