  1. I'm working on a complete review. We have always loved the veranda cabins at the ship and most of the time book those, regardless of the ships. The SV's on Edge are great and the veranda is a nice size. The main dining rooms have been great. I'll be sure to post a link here to the review but it will probably be at least two weeks before I'm home and get time to finish it. This is a port intensive cruise so I'm spending little time on my computer or even on the ship. But I'll be sharing info as soon as I can!
  2. Greetings from Edge ~ we have a lounger on our SV but our friends traveling with us and next door to us (two couples in two separate SVs) do not have a lounger. No coffee table in the cabin and still just a very small round table on the veranda. Everyone talks about how difficult it is to have breakfast delivered to your room and eat it on your veranda. There just isn't much place to put anything. We're on deck 11 so we haven't met anyone on decks 7 or 8. But we have been in Eden several times at night and I can't imagine that it would affect an SV on deck 7 or 8. They are only doing the show in Eden every other night at the moment. It's a new cast from those who opened the ship. They've trimmed the time a bit but still nothing that gives you an idea of what the show is about unless you dine in Eden on deck 4 and read the TV screens with cast information. I was taking sunset photos from the upper ramp in Eden and noticed the screens in the restaurant. I'll look at little closer at the IVs but the chairs looked the same to me as they were in January.
  3. We had the GO BEST perks package for months so I'm not sure if they are charging gratuities on the package you purchase on board but I'll see if I can find out. There have been no gratuities charged on any drinks we've ordered but then the GO BEST package said gratuities were included. We did have an issue with our seapass cards saying we had the Classic Package. Fortunately, I bring all my paperwork along and it clearly stated that the GO BEST Package included the Premium Drinks. They quickly corrected our seapass cards.
  4. Hi everyone ~ so far, we are enjoying ourselves immensely. We were on Edge in January and I'll be doing a review and comparison between the two cruises. We have a Sunset Veranda for this cruise. These have always been among our favorite cabins on Celebrity ships and we love this one. Beautiful cabin and very nice veranda. Food and service in the main dining rooms (we've been in Normandie and Tuscan thus far) has been outstanding. We have Celebrity Select but I pre-reserved most evenings. We liked out table and waiters in Normandie the first night so much that we were willing to adjust our time for the other evenings we are dining in here so we could keep the same table and waiters. There were very happy to make that request happen if we were willing to adjust our reservation time (8:30 instead of 8:00). We were happy to do that so we can take in shows that were at 7:30 if we wanted to as well so it all worked out. I'll continue to post here when I have a few minutes but most of this cruise is port intensive and we have planned tours each day. Please feel free to post questions and I'll answer as time permits.
  5. Thanks to Celebrity for a great Cruise Critic party today. It was nice to see both Cruise Critic members and many Edge officers join the party. Special thanks to Chloe, Edge's event manager, for her hard work to make the party happen. Here's our photo of those who stayed till the end. THANKS to all who attended and special thanks as well to Captain Kate for joining us as well.
  6. Fire is one of the biggest safety concerns on a cruise ship. Therefore, irons and steamers are strictly forbidden.
  7. In my experience, the promotions are ever changing. I always book with the price and perks/no perks I am comfortable with. If a better price/deal come along before final payment, I can often take advantage of those by contacting my TA. If nothing better comes along, I'm happy with what I've booked.
  8. Cricketgirl ~ thanks so much for your detailed review! I'm loving it and I think your photos are fantastic! You are selling yourself short! We are on Edge again (second time) at the end of this month and seeing your photos makes our countdown even more exciting!!!! I'm one of those who did not care for the IVs at all. But I'm very happy you liked it. We'll been in a sunset veranda this time and I know I will enjoy it alot more. But that's just me. Looking forward to the rest of your review and photos. You are doing a GREAT job with both!
  9. We sailed Xpedition in November of 2017. We loved it; however, we honestly wanted to sail one of the smaller ships. But at the time we booked, we were told that we could be "bumped" if a group wanted to charter one of the smaller ships. Knowing that a lot of time and money went into a trip to the Galapagos, we went the safe route and settled on Xpedition. Given a choice to sail on one of the smaller ships, we would have been happy to do so. Whatever folks decide to do, know you will have a marvelous time. We will definitely go back!!!!
  10. Tamilyn ~ something doesn't sound right. You shouldn't have been charged for the classic drink package on board if it was included in your cruise fare. I know waiting on the phone can be a pain but I'd encourage you to see it through. I know everyone is in a hurry to disembark. I suggest checking your onboard account every day. The type of thing you are talking about (the $55 charge) would have shown on your account early in the cruise. Then check it on the final night before putting your luggage out and head down if there are problems. If you aren't getting much assistance, ask to see the Guest Services supervisor or the Hotel Director. Things do happen but they should be happy to help you figure it out before you leave the ship. When you see these kinds of charges, always ask to see something that shows you actually "signed" for these charges. They have to have proof that you incurred the charges. Don't blame yourself. There is a lot of confusing things with all the various perks, etc today. I do hope they will help you figure everything out. Looks like Orator and I were posting at the same time 🙂
  11. Just a quick FYI....these types of errors occasionally happen and I always tell our family & friends to be certain to check your bill closely before disembarking the ship and go to guest services with any questions prior to leaving the ship. Always take a copy of your cruise confirmation and any upgrades/reservations/grautities you pre-paid for so you have some documentation with you onboard. It is much easier to get these things resolved on the ship than it is when you get home. Good luck, Tamilyn. Hope you get the corrections made.
  12. Hope you had as great a time as we did!!!
  13. Just a quick shot out to those who were sailing on Solstice last week in Alaska. Here are two photos of the ship - one in Juneau and the other early morning in Skagway! Hope you had a GREAT cruise!
  14. Thanks for the kind note....it's still hard to believe! I'll be happy to combine the threads! Happy planning!
  15. Cruising-NC ~ please do repost this in your roll call (Thanks, Essiesmom) for posting a link to the roll call. Roll calls are the place to look for others to share shore excursions. Enjoy your cruise!
