  1. With young children you might also occasionally like to consider one of the services which Celebrity offer regarding children :-

From the website http://www.celebritycruises.com/htmlpage/family-fun-cruise#&panel1-4&panel2-5 : "We offer additional services to accommodate families while the ship is in port, and during the evenings for a fee of $6 per hour.

Dinner Party: Every evening from 5PM-7PM. Children start out in the Fun Factory from 5PM-6PM, then dine with Youth Staff at 6PM on the Lido Deck, then carry on into evening activities. Pre-registration required before 5:45PM".

Thanks. We may take advantage of that one night so we can have an adult dinner, but for the most part the kids will be eating with us. :) We enjoy having the time together on vacations. But we will see how it goes and play it by ear.

  2. Thanks so much! You are all a big help! :) I am so excited, can hardly wait. I think I will make the restorations a little later on port days and earlier on sea/formal days. Hopefully that should be good. And we don't mind being patient, I just want to know what to expect and help my kids too. They love to cruise! Wanderlust like their mama! :D

  3. Thanks so much! Do you recommend getting dinner reservations? Or would it be fine just to walk in? We are a group of 5. I was thinking it would be convenient to go based on our activities each day when we are ready, but wasn't sure if we would encounter a long wait for dinner if we don't have a reservation. Thanks again!

  4. Hi Everyone,

We are so excited to be sailing the Celebrity Reflection on Jan 2 with our kids. We have cruised several other lines before, but first time on celebrity. I have a quick question. We were only able to get the select seating which is the anytime. On our cruise personalizer if gives us the option to book reservations for dinner which I think would be helpful since I have a 4 and 6 year old with us. I just wasn't sure what times the shows usually take place. On Disney there was a show time for early seating and one for late. I wanted to make reservations at a time where we could still see the shows either before or after dinner. Thanks so much for your help and happy sailing!

  5. Thank you all for the encouragement! I actually think this is going to be a perfect fit for us despite the few cranky people who don't want kids around. :p

My children have been on 2 Disney Cruises and while we loved it, I think there is a sense of sensory overload. My youngest was almost 3 on our last one and the big children's club was loud and big and overwhelming for her. But if you have a smaller environment where someone will play with her or let her do crafts and color! Now we are talking, she would be thrilled. And we do not leave our children for long periods of time anywhere, so most of the time they would be with us. My oldest is a little intellectual about to be 6 year old and he loves learning and discovery, so I think all the activities would suit him as well. I do thing they will like getting dressed up for dinner and they both understand and follow good manners and behavior the majority of the time. And if for some reason they do not, we will handle it.

This cruise has the perfect ports we were looking for and with the kids sailing free promo plus the all the promos being offered for drinks, gratuities, etc, it is the best deal for our budget as well. I will be booking tonight! There is no place I would rather be then sailing off into the sunset! Cheers! Thanks again!

  6. It is definitely not the attitude.

Thank you so much! I appreciate it :). I try to take my children on various trips and I truly believe that seeing the world is a large part of their education. And it doesn't always have to be a crazy commercial party. I am ok with a more refined and relaxing trip to amazing ports. And I will make sure they are on their best behavior

  7. Not by adult cruisers. Stay with Royal Caribbean.

Many of us travel when school is in session for that very reason, to get an adult only holiday.

Holidays are different, then you can expect families.

Yikes, hope your position is not the norm.

  8. Thank you all so much for all the feedback. I am hoping the one poster who implied that they don't want children around is the exception. I think my kids are pretty well traveled, we have been all over the eastern US, museums, monuments, historic sites etc. Also, the dates we are looking at is just after New Years, so my children will be off of school until the middle of that week, so thinking perhaps others will be off as well. Hoping we don't get the dirty looks from those that don't want children around because it sounds like otherwise the cruise would be a perfect fit. Someone posted about a family room, I didn't see that option when trying to choose that cabin. Is it an Oceanview? Or veranda? Thanks again!! Looking forward to trying out a great new cruise line. So far have loved Disney, HAL and Princess the best. Have heard great things about celebrity.

  9. Hi Everyone,

I am hoping for some feedback from anyone that has taken their little ones on Celebrity. We have 2 children who will be 4 and 6 at the time of the sailing. We love to cruise and have cruised only Disney with the kids, but several other lines without. We love princess when it is just us adults, but were thinking of trying out celebrity since we like the itinerary better. Disney prices have just been insane this year and were thinking of trying one of the adult lines with the kids. That being said, would the children enjoy a cruise on celebrity? Are they somewhat kid friendly, like in the dining room and stuff. Are children allowed in the pool (s)? Are there activities that they would enjoy? Also we are looking at either a standard balcony or concierge class balcony. Does anyone know how the beds are arranged with 4 in a cabin? It says there is a sofa bed so does that sleep 2 (my kids are small but don't think they would fit in a twin)? Or is there an upper berth somewhere? We looked into Holland as well but saw they have the 4th bed right over our bed, we wouldn't like that. Thanks so much for any insight you can give. We are looking into the Jan 2 Reflection Western.

  11. Thanks so much! It actually sounds like it would be a great fit. My daughter was almost 3 last year on the Fantasy and she could do either the nursery or the oceanears club on Disney and she always preferred the nursery because it was much quieter and controlled. I think the chaos was overwhelming for her. And my 5 year old son would love to participate in experiences both in the camp and exploring with us. We don't use the camps as much because we have so much to enjoy with them, but we do a few hours here and there for a nicer dinner or for some afternoon reading. I just was concerned if my kids were going to have enough to do with 3 sea days. Disney has shows geared towards kids, water slides, arcade, splash areas etc. Is there any day time stuff for the kids too? Do they do those special events during the day or just at night? Are the pools kid friendly? Thanks again for all your positive feedback!! So exciting! This will be my first cruise as ruby and will almost to platinum! Love to cruise!!

  12. Hi everyone, I have a quick question about princess. I love to cruise and have been on 3 princess cruises but not with my children (3 and 5). They have been with us on Disney fantasy twice, but no other line. As an adult, I love princess, but wasn't sure if my kids would enjoy it. Disney prices this winter are so crazy I don't think we can swing it again, so I was thinking of trying to Jan Regal Princess 7 day. Does anyone have experience with children on princess? Is the staff friendly? If we book a mini suite will there be enough room for 4 of us to fit comfortably in the cabin? How about the princess Pelicans program? Did your children enjoy it? My kids would be 4 and 6 when we sail. I loved regal this spring, but didn't check out the kids club at the time. Thanks so much!!

  14. Hi Everyone,

My family and I are looking into cruising the Freedom of the Seas in January. We have cruised Disney with the family several times and Princess and Holland without kids. I have a few questions regarding Royal Caribbean and Freedom. First off, we have children 4 and 6. We looked into booking a deluxe ocean view which says is has a sofa bed. How is the bed set up? On Disney the sofa just flips over to a twin mattress and and the top bunk comes down from the wall on top of it. Is the sofa bed on Freedom just one bigger bed that could sleep two or does one come out somewhere?

Also, how are the kids activities for entertainment purposes? Is there a lot of do for the preschool aged kids? They loved Disney and i know it will be tough to compare, but I have heard Royal is great for families as well. Is the kids club a good experience for them? Is there any type of water slide or something similar?

Thanks so much for any input you can give us.

    Happy Cruising!

  15. Hi Everyone,

My husband and I were considering a Holland America cruise for our family trip this January. We have cruised HAL 3 times before we had children and really enjoyed the laid back elegance. But now we were considering trying them out again with the kids. There is a great sale going on and we can get a great deal, just not sure if it will be the best fit for the family.

First of all, does anyone know how the beds are configured on the Eurodam or Nieuw Amsterdam? We would have 4 in a room. I saw some pictures of rooms with the 4th bed over the adult bed. Don't think we would like that. We have cruised Disney with the kids and their 4th bed is over the sofa bed.

Also, does anyone know anything about Club HAL? Our kids will be 4 and 6. Would they enjoy it? Would people be upset with children onboard? It is a pretty port intensive itinerary so I would hope I can keep the kids entertained on the Sea Days. Thanks so much for any insight you can give. :)

  16. Hi everyone, I am hoping you can help me out. A am planning a cruise for 4 of us gals in just 4 short weeks on the Regal and while we were trying to book today, the prices jumped up on us. When we were finally able to hold our cabins, the only ones left close to our price range were the obstructed view. When I spoke with the Princess agent, she said that they didn't have life boats in front of them, they just had a white wall instead of plexiglass. From what I am reading on this thread, that is not the case. Can anyone please help me? We have held 2 cabins for 24 hours, but want to check to see if they will be completely covered by a life boat. We are held for cabin E631 and E 625.

There are still the following cabins left available in that category if you think any of these would be better. Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide.
