  1. The group benefits changed for those formed after the certain date in June. the date itself changed as well. the major differences came with the affinity groups, where the once offered options included Ultimate Beverage Package w/o paying the huge service fee, and gratuities. now, you have to pay the service fee and gratuities are gone. Basically, the major perks that were used to benefit a group are diminished.

as for looking for another person so you can get that conductor credit, start hitting up your family and friends on social media, as well as the family and friends of those going with you. Next, look for a family of 4 and see if they can benefit by breaking down into two rooms. Also, put it out to everyone you meet in person that you have discounted room available for X week, if they want to go or know anyone who may. lastly, another person on that same sailing can slide their reservation into your group, if done properly and timely.

best bet, always work with a TA.

  2. There are many reasons people end up in handicapped rooms but do not appear handicapped - the GUARANTEE room, an upgraded room, only rooms left on the ship are just a few of the reasons. There are also those that require extra space in the bathroom only, and need the room for those purposes. There are also those who require assistance at times, but not all the time. I know people who need it only when walking long distances. There are others that are fine at times, and wake up some mornings unable to walk due to joint pains.

I see the issues at amusement parks, but the Mouse has reworked there policies and it is no longer as beneficial as it once was (when people offered their services online). My bigger concern is the growing number of people with these fake service animals or emotional support animals. With ZERO regulations in place and an army of people who are misinformed or misleading others, that is one thing that should be focused on before it gets any more out of control then it already has.

This is the note that those booking a handicapped room on NCL will receive. It does note that if a room is not required, that a guest

    Dear Guest,

Thank you for choosing to cruise with Norwegian Cruise Line. We hope you are as excited about cruising with us, as we are to have you on board.

    • Wheelchairs must also be able to navigate The Bathroom door measurements range from 34 1⁄2 in to 36 1⁄2 (inches) wide.

    • Motorized wheelchairs and scooters are welcome; however gel-cell batteries must power them. Due to safety regulations,

Norwegian Cruise Line cannot accept any wet cell or acid-battery powered wheelchairs.

    • If you have booked a Wheelchair Accessible Stateroom and do not have a disability we may ask you to relocate to another stateroom in order to accommodate a guest with a disability.

Accessibility Team at 866.584.9756 or email at accessdesk@ncl.com. Again, we're looking forward to having you on board and experiencing our exclusive Freestyle Cruising®, where you're free to... whatever.

    Sincerely,

  3. Concur. No advantage to a mini suite. We actually went with family ocean view at a lower cost, and had a great room with the full bathroom. Bid and hope for the haven - have your trusted TA tell you the current price to just upgrade without bidding, and available inventory. Can help you generate a solid bid.

  4. Question on that casino - there are glass doors going into it. Can you tell us about how it is broken down? Is the smoking section behind doors as well as handlers, or is it open to the centrum once again (like on escape)? Thanks for the posts!

  5. Extremely disappointed that there isn't a pool with a retractable roof other than the one for Haven cruisers. IMO - pretty shabby planning if you're building a ship specifically for half the year in Alaska.
. Perhaps you may like Princess or RCCL over NCL then, both are excellent choices and kids will enjoy them as well.

Now I'm trying to figure out the lounges - is the multi-story lounge for viewing for everyone or Haven only?
. 2 story is for Haven. Single story is for everyone else.

Are there going to be any parties similar to what are/were on Breakaway/Getaway?
Presumably, as the ship will want to have some entertainment and fun activities one would assume they will.

I see there isn't anything like the Cirque shows...anything in the way of family entertainment?
Jersey Boys amongst other shows. They had a kids circus last time I sailed the Escape - was a lot of fun for the kids to participate in.

Also - what is the likelihood of being able to use the go-carts/laser tag in Alaska?
I would say you can - they had the waterslides open on my cold Canada sailing with CCL - and we used them. carts and laser tag will be much easier then getting wet.

Both of my previous Alaskan cruises were excursion oriented - now have an 8 year-old whose loves to swim and see shows (such as those on RCI's Oasis class ships). Thanks!
. My 8 and 5 yo are looking forward to the dog excursions, as well as seeing whales and other wild life
  6. My sailing is nearly a year away - I still check my NCL account every few days just to see updates. Last week, the Thermal Spa Pass was showing up (listed as TO SOON TO BOOK, just as nearly everything else is too).. This week - Gone! 42 other spa options, but that one is now missing.

  7. Thanks for the info! We do large groups, typically during an off-week, and think this is a fun way to get a few families together - thinking me and my kids, brother w/ niece/nephew, and another friend with his son, so splitting it up between the three of us, renting it for an hour, get some rides in, fun videos, etc. the breakdown is much worth it. thank you all!

  8. Revisiting this thread! I have two upcoming RCCL reservations (Anthem and Symphony) and was wondering if anyone knows if they still do the rental of the Flo-RIder, and if they ave seen it rentable on the Anthem. Since the Symphony is not yet sailing, it is understood no one has the answer on that, but how about on other Oasis class ships? Going with a few families, and a couple of us look at it as a good way to spend an hour with kids as a group. Thanks in advance.

  9. Call an independent agent and book thru them - they will be able to secure the room for you as well as added perks such as room credit. The cost will be the same or lower, but RCCL booking directly will not be able to match the added OBC.. There are a bunch of the rooms showing in the system, so you should not have a problem.

  10. I wish they kept it as a one off gimmick...it has ruined the Boardwalk

Completely agree.. The best rooms in my opinion were the last few on the Boardwalk - 11327, 11329, etc... Especially in the early days with the public balcony on 11,12,14.. That got taken away with added Aqua Theater Suites - go figure - and now the view is terrible (listed as OV). Would have been cool if they wrapped the slides down/in/near the rock walls or over the side somehow - same effect but maintaining the views..

The floor plans still show a zip line and zip line platforms...

How about the incorporation of iFly? nothing revolutionary, but new to Oasis..

or a ride/attraction/contraption that dips over the side / back (again, think stratosphere).

  11. For the Symphony, over the past 6 months or so, they continuously say "Test your vocal chords on a 10-story plunge. The tallest slide at sea returns with a new twist." What could the "new twist" be? it is stated on multiple media platforms in this same format. Also, on many postings, advertisements, etc. they state this same phrase: "

A NEW SCALE OF DARING Adventure hits a high note with a whole new challenge."

So.. "test your vocal cords" and "scale" (the Abyss has scales) and "high note" (screaming) all seem to flow.. but what is "daring"? could it be another thrill / adventure activity such as a freefall jump? (think Stratosphere). Or, is the Abyss a waterslide? or something totally different? Any guesses?

  12. They sell the other ones, and the last one left, that is yours... If they sell all the 1 bedroom suits, they will try to up-sell those people into a 2 bedroom, or give you the 2 bedroom if no takers. They are on 11,12,14 (where the public balconies once were on Allure / Oasis). (8,9,10 have the 2 bedroom). Worst case scenario, you are in the deck 14 room underneath the flow riders and pool deck noise.

Deck 14 on these ships is the A4, and A3 are located on decks 11/12.

Oasis notes: Deck 11 is 398/452 sqft. Deck 12 is 323/355 sqft. Deck 14 is 323/140 sqft (Balcony is Narrow).

Harmony of the Seas notes: Deck 11 is 606/626 sqft. Deck 12 is 562/589 sqft. Deck 14 is 604/631 sqft.

Allure of the Seas notes: Category A4 deck 14 is 421 sqft plus 136 sqft balcony. Category A3 deck 11 and 12 is 433 sqft plus 362 sqft balcony. Category A3 deck 10 is 659 sqft plus 648 sqft balcony.
