  1. I just came off the Grand. The coffee cup was an additional $5.00. When I purchased my coffee card I was quoted a price. When I questioned the amount as I knew what it should cost the fellow told me the cup was extra. However he did NOT tell me that until I asked- I suppose they do that intentionally to make more money. Unfortunately people think they're getting a deal when they aren't. So make sure you ask if in fact the coffee cup is extra or not.

  2. Really appreciate everyone taking the time to reply. It's very helpful. I was just curious as to what to expect as such short cruises are new to me. I was curious if the menu and entertainment would just repeat, repeat, repeat. However, sounds like there is some variety on both fronts.

Hopefully the Golden has improved it's food quality since I was on it 1 1/2 years ago. Was very bland and for the life of me I could not get a piece of medium well cooked beef! Thanks again.

  3. I've booked 4 back to back cruises on the Golden Princess from LA to Ensenada and one 4 day cruise to Catalina Island from LA in November. I've never been on a cruise less than 7 days. I have a few questions about the shorter cruises. 1) I understand there is no formal night but wondered if items such as prime rib, lobster, shrimp, etc are still offered in the diningrooms. Does anyone have any menu's from these short cruises? 2) is the platinium/elite lounge open in Skywalkers 3) what sort of entertainment is offered. Any Patters would be appreciated 4) if you buy a coffee card can it only be used for the 3 or 4 nights for brewed coffee. I know the speciality coffee punches can be used on any cruise but I'm wondering if the brewed coffee is also transferable from cruise to cruise since they are back to back? 5) I have a Dolphin aft inside cabin. Haven't ever stayed in an inside cabin. Is it quiet in that location. Does it feel cramped compared to the oceanview cabins? Thanks!;)

  4. I had exactly that cabin in Oct/Nov for a Greek Isles cruise. There is no obstruction to speak of. You can if you look for it just see the bottom of a walk way above you and a crew access walk way a deck below you but there is no walk way directly outside the window. I found the location within the ship to be good, near stairs and lift but no noise from them or passengers and also nearish to laundrette. I would certainly book this cabin again.

Hi: I've booked this cabin for next year. Could you tell me 1) does the air conditioning work well 2) is the bed located on the wall away from the window rather than under neath it 3) is the sink & closet area quite small? We've had balconies before so not sure of the difference in size of the sink/balcony. Thanks.

  5. We had two fabulous massages at the spa in the past when it was run by a Mexican fellow who had lived in Canada for a period of time. At that time, we were given towels and allowed the use the pool and beach for no extra cost. We could also have lunch at their restaurants but of course pay for it. Last year when we took a cruise to Mexico, we emailed the spa several times without any reply to reserving for massages. I finally called and booked them and agreed to the price that was advertised on their web site. After we arrived at the Krystal, we learned the spa had moved to a different area of the hotel; was under new ownership and is much smaller. After our massages, they attempted to charge us more than we agreed to for the massages and when I refused to pay that they backed off. The massages were wonderful but you cannot use the facilities like the pool and beach anymore unless you pay $50.00 US per person! At a time when tourism is suffering we were shocked that they wouldn't provide a towel and pool lounger without charging us extra. We of course didn't pay and decided we won't be returning again.

  6. We recently used this company. It is run by a local fellow who has a Mercedes Van. He designs tours to meet the needs of the guest. You email or call him and tell him how long you want to tour and what you want to do. He'll design a tour for you and tell you how much can be fit into your time schedule. He's reliable, professional and knowledgeable. Definately would recommend him. We spent 7 hours leaving from Waikiki up to the North shore and back. We saw LOTS and never felt rushed. He knows the island and lots of great places to see.
