I think I may finally try Ruth's Chris...
And I don't need to spend on a cruise to do it....
Ruth's Chris will set you back way more than a meal at Cagneys.

The question was "Do you consider 'A La Carte' Specialty Dining as more nickel and diming by Del Rio?"
My answer is yes.
Your answer is no.
So, is no discussion allowed? Just yes or no answers?

If you show me a business that doesn't do exactly what you just wrote, I'll show you a business that will fail. The entire idea of any business is to be profitable. It's one thing to be upset about the change. It's another to basically say you hope NCL goes out of business.
Agreed. First of all, no one is forcing you to do the a la carte dining. Plenty of other options are provided.
Obviously, change is hard, but if we want these cruise lines to stay in business, we need to understand their need to make business decisions. These decisions may not be the best thing for us but best for the business.

They will hand it to you. They were distracted when that poster walked by, and missed handing her one. That was merely a mistake, not something that is a general rule. You don't need to go search for it.
Thank you! I've read that a few times lately and wanted to make sure. We leave in 11 days so I need to get this all figured out!

--make sure the port of Miami people give you your boarding group number! They were busy chatting and let me walk right past them. I didn't know I needed one until ten minutes to boarding time.
I didn't realize you got the boarding number from the port of miami workers. I've been assuming that we got it when we checked in with ncl! Where do I get it?

Okay. Thank you.

Does Howl at the Moon play every night on the Getaway?
-
Also, my husband is paranoid about our kids falling overboard. Our youngest are 11!! Are the balconies easy to lock?

We were offered an upgrade to two mini suites on deck 10 or 11. We are currently in two family ocean views for our family of five. Is it a good offer? The family ocean views look huge!

Thanks again, esp re: the elevators.
Another quick dumb question that google can't seem to help me with:
I've booked some dinner reservations online that I'd like to change/cancel. I don't see a way to do so on the site. Am I overlooking something obvious?
You have to call NCL to change the dinner reservations. It's a pain!

I don't see anything on getaway either. Am I missing it or is this just for breakaway?

I love reading different perspectives. I also have sailed Disney and Norwegian. While I enjoyed the Disney cruise, I wanted more variety in restaurants. Disney doesn't have much in the way of specialty options. We know this going in though. Pay more to sail Disney but don't have to upgrade. Pay less to sail ncl but have lots of options to upgrade cruise as we go.

I'm wondering if you can pay the fee to eat at the list of upcharge restaurants and Cirque/Illusionarium with the old UDP. Does anyone know?
-
-
Can you see how many people are on each reservation? I made some for just a few of us and some for all, but I haven't been able to see which ones are on each night.
-
Just to clarify. Here is a post where they are saying they have the UDP and Cagney's is included. The booked it at no charge.

We also have Cagney booked on our July 25th sailing, and there was no charge with our UDP.

Where in my statement was I blaming anyone. There have been 3 drowned and 3 near drowned in the 3 years. Of those 2 of the drowned and 1 near drowned have been on NCL. At the very least NCL needs to supervise the area or put security measures in place to help another tragedy from happening. If cruise companies would put surveillance cameras in pool areas it would at least help determine what happened and how to prevent accidents in the future instead of it being unknown what happened as has been the case with a majority of the cruise ship incidences.
I think all cruise lines should have lifeguards. I can't understand why they don't.
-
Not to mention that people CAN still eat on the balcony. It is not against any rule.
-
Are all the martinis included with the UDP? Love that "10". Getaway 5/30..
As long as they are less than $11. I think if they cost more than $11, you only pay the difference in price.

Having cruised a number of times with Disney and RCL and also have a couple more booked (Wonder and Oasis!) We decided to try NCL .........Now although it's hard to put a finger on what it's missing it is definitely missing something! The foods not AMAZING!!!! The ambience is average and the staff are adequate! I shall stay with Disney and RCL in future as they are guaranteed AMAZING!!! Albeit in different ways!!!! We met a couple who had cruised 15+ times with NCL and loved it but wouldn't try the competition.......sad as they are missing out on something very special!
And we feel just the opposite. But we prefer eating in specialty restaurants to dining rooms, and Disney and Royal did not have enough choices for us.

Strange! But at least you see it!
Harriet
I know! Thanks for posting the menu.

I can't see anything. Can anyone else or is it my phone?
Oddly enough, I can see it when using the quoted comment.

The only time I went with all three children, it was $350. I think we split three steaks but all had desserts and sides.
