  1. We have earlier enjoyed the Chef’s Tables on both Celebrity and Royal Caribbean. Good food experience in a smaller group, meeting new people and have had wonderful conversations.

We are having a cruise coming up in June, and would like to do the Chef’s Table again, but the price have gone up dramatically. Furthermore, it seems like wine pairing is no longer included in the price (and this is actually a big part of the experience).

Have anyone been at Chef’s Table lately – is it still worth the price? We are having Premium drink package; can we use this to get wine at the Chef’s Table?

Or would it be better to book a speciality restaurant instead?

  2. It has happen  to me as well, that only received 1 point per night for solo cruises. However, I just contacted RCCL and got the extra points.

my last solo cruise was a 10 night cruise. I ordered in back in August 2021 at the time RCCL offered double on the points. So this cruise actually gave me 40 points. It made me able to go directly from Platinum to Diamond 😀

  3. I was at The absolutely last Infinity cruise back in March 2020 - I remembered one of the waiters in the Blu restaurant telling about his grandma working in the kitchen. At that time she was 102 years old and responsible for all the Crème Brûlée all over the ship. I have been thinking a lot about her the last two years- how did she go through the last two years? Maybe you can ask, while you are onboard?

Enjoying the review so far - flying off to Stockholm to join the Voyager next weekend.  Really interested to hear about the options for transfer from ports to central town in Helsinki, Tallinn and Visby ( if you did those ones).

Interested in hear about the food and shows too 😉

For Visby and Tallinn you can either pay for for a transfer or take 10-15 minutes walk into town. Unfortunately, we did not went to Helsinki 😟

  5. Exactly - it can be everything between 60F to 90F. Raining, windy, sunny and humited. The only thing that is sure, is that there will not be any snow and it will not be freezing.

So a recommendation is to bring something light, so that you can easily put on several layers, and then take one or more layers off after your need. Waterproof rainbraker is always good - but also bring shorts and t-shirts - the weather can be good.

Looks fantastic really, I remember my first time getting on board of such a ship, the feeling was fantastic. Only its view is already giving you goose bumps. I am glad that its passangers had a chance to enjoy it when it was possible. Will see how things turn our for it in the future

Yes - it is going to be exciting to see, what happens with the cruise industry in the future. I did not felt unsafe at anytime during the cruise in March - some people even said, that they felt more safe on the ship, than they would be at home. However, it was not a big surprise, when the captain at the last night of the cruise announced, that from midnight the RCCL family  suspended all cruises.

However, I look forward to going on a cruise again - but I guess I will wait a year or more...….

  7. Last year a cruise brought us to Ajaccio at Corse - I really would like to come back and explore more.

Places I have been on a cruise and do not want to return? Maybe Costanza in Romania - it was not a nice experience. Very poor and dilapidated - quite depressing.

This summer?  I will "just" stay in Denmark - we are having many nice places here - so it will be good to explore my own country a bit more. We are having amazing beaches and nice landscapes.

Next cruise?  No idea - I hope next year, but it depend, how the cruise lines are going to operate in the future.   I was crusing in the Caribbean Sea in March, when the whole cruising closed down. I love to cruise, but I can also see things, that need to be changed in the future to make cruising safe again.

  8. Love it - I was at the last "real" Infinity cruise ending in Miami the 14th March. I am sure you are going to love this cruise - it is a nice ship, even though it is soon time for a makeover - the staff are just terrific - I am sending them many warms thoughts everyday in this time.

Enjoy - I am looking forward to hear about your experience during this cruise. Your itinerary looks amazing - hope you will be able to spend some time in Rome after the cruise😉 .

    Safe travel.

This is Infinity in Cozumel the 12th March.

  9. Got of Inifinity Saturday.

The crew members were supposed to get more information during Saturday. They did not expected any salary, as there would not be any gratuities or tips from passagers. Many was very concerned, as they would not be able to send money home to support their families.

Many warm thoughts to the crew members who will be stucked on the ships for the next 30 days (as least).

  10. I have done more Royal cruises than Celebrity cruises - I have never been on one of those really big Royal Ships (Oasis Class) - but I have been on 1-day visits on Celebrity Silouhette two times.

I would say, that Royal has more activities - and is the best choice if you are travelling as a family with more generations together. Celebrity is great for couples age 35+ travelling without kids. Better food, better service, more relaxed - no ice skating, no climbing wall - but still plenty of activities and very beautiful ships.

Cruising in the Med is - as others have already mentioned - very port incentive, so iyou would be very busy ashore and not spend so much time at the ship.

So you have to decide what is much important for you: the activities onboard, the food, the service, the ship interior, the itinerary  or the price?

Both Royal and Celebrity are good choices - so go with the one you feel fit you best.

  11. Vision of the Seas will return to Barcelona at June 7 - next cruise available to book is at June 12, but just a short 3 nights cruise returning to Barcelona at June 15 - next cruise available to book is at June 19.

I guess, that VOS has been charted for the period of Jun 7 - June 12 and again for the period of June 15 to June 19.

I am considering to book the short 3 nights cruise at June 12 - but do anyone have any thoughts about how it would be to sail on a short cruise just between two chartered cruises?

I cannot find any Roll Call for the Jun 12 cruise.:o

  12. I was on this cruise too. We had dinner at 5:30, which I think is way too early. We normally finished dinner around 7:00, and shows and entertainment did not start before 8:30, 9:00 or even later, so the time after dinner felt long and boring. Almost every night we went to bed before midnight.

The large group did not affect the cruise in any other ways (some in the group did actually drink alcohol) - they did not take over the pool deck or anything.

This was my first cruise with HAL, and I am not sure, that I will cruise with HAL again, as the nightlife was too quite/non existing. But it may be wrong just to judge after this cruise.

  13. I prefer late dinning. Then cruising in the Med it would 9:00 or later.

I just noticed that my cruise papers now says early dining. I think 5 or 6 is way to early - would not have left the pool deck yet.

I hope, that it will be possible to get later reservation once onboard - else it might be buffet or specialization restaurants ::confused: not really what I want....

Well - let us hope the best :):)

  14. Thank you for this post. Great information.

I'm sorry to hear Divan 2 is gone. I have great memories from some lovely evenings there. I remember a restaurant, St. Gertrude's Closter in a former monastery and wonder if that is still there/good?

Everything is pricey in Copenhagen but well worth it, IMO.

St. Gertrude's Kloster is now a nightclub. So it does not exist anymore as well. But there are many other good restaurants in Copenhagen.

The dollar is right expensive right now towards the Danish krone, so you might find, that you get more value for your Money in Copenhagen now. :)

  15. Hotel D'Angleterre is probably the most expensive hotel, you find in Copenhagen. But if money is not a problem, it would be a great expierence.

    I would recommend following hotels:

Hotel Bella Sky - close to the airport, easy access to get to center of Copenhagen with the metro.

Tivoli Hotel - very central located. Two fantastic restaurants in the top of the hotel. And guest at Tivoli Hotel will get free access to the Tivoli garden, that still is worth a visit.

The Divan 2 restaurant does no longer exist, but there are many other good alternatives in Tivoli.

If on a budget - try the Generator Hostel. Even though it a hostel, you can get a private room. It is placed very central in a Building designed by Philipe Starck.

    I hope, this could help?

  16. Thanks for your replies.

Hopefully we will have enough room.

As for the hair dryer…is it powerful?? or is it a light blow of air?!! Ill prob bring my own but would like the weight for an extra pair of shoes!! :D

I have very thick hair, and I hate most hotel hairdryers, as they take forever to dry mt hair and I always ends up with a haystack. I had not had that problem with the hairdryers on Constellation. And I could easily get 3 suitcases to fit underneath the beds.

  17. I did my first NCL cruise in February at Getaway. I think the ship was really nice. I am not a big fan of all the "private" areas - pay extra if you want a more quite zone at the pool. Pay extra if you want decent food etc.

I am mainly a MDR person, and do normally only go to Speciality restaurants 1-2 times on a 7 nights cruise. But on NCL the food in the MDR was disapointing. There was only a slight change in the meny every night, so already after 2 nights, I found it difficult to find new opportunities. We had dinner in the Teppanaki restaurant. Nice show etc. but the food was not what I expected.

We was at the Illusionarium - it was a set menu (vegetarian or steak - no other choices), and the serving was so fast, that you have to eat very fast, before they took the plates away again. Again the food was nothing special.

The buffet was not impressive. I sometimes had troubles to find something I really would eat at lunch time (I am not pickie, I just want the food to look tempting), and I find the selection very limited. i love the pasta station on Celebrity, the afternoon small sandwichs and the early evening sushi, and I was a little bit dispaointed not to find the something simuler at NCL.

We saw the Burn the floor show - very impressive (eventhough I felt at sleep, but it has to be blamed jetlag and not the dancers) and Legally Blonde, that was more like seeing a musical Production in the local High school (I might not be the huge show person).

The service was okay, but you never get the WOW feeling.

I will be back at Celebrity in July, and I am looking forward to have a nice dinner in the MDR room again. I must say, that I am not a big fan of the Freestyle concept. Even before going at the cruise, you had to plan your day, as many shows were getting sold out. I am not a big fan of over planning. I am on vacation, and I do not want to take a lot of descisions all the time (I do that everyday at work), but just wants to relax, have good food and good service.

But I would not say, that I will not cruise with NCL again, I just like RCCL and Celebrity (and Azamara, they are just a little to expensive for me) better, and will prefer to cruise with them at any time.
