  1. I had it on the Conquest. It was alright. Smoked beef, grilled chicken, I think there was sausage too. Cole slaw was ok. I thought it was better than the greasy old Fish & Chips.

I will be on the Glory next week, but I don't think they have changed it over to BBQ yet. Will most likely change during dry dock in 4 weeks.

Per the Facebook post I saw it has already been converted from fish and chips to BBQ, so you should be able to try it next week.

  2. I'm curious which ship they are on...I, too, sail out of Miami on Jan 8th. What are the chances they are on the Splendor????

sounds like a good incentive to work there. we don't get a bonus of any kind and I haven't had a raise in 4 years.

According to the article, they are leaving on the cruise Monday the 9th, flying down to Miami on the 8th. The only ship leaving Miami on the 9th is the Carnival Victory, 4 day cruise.

  3. There are 1A's. The beds are usually singles, some can be put together to make a queen. Regular inside is usually only $40 more with a little more space. Still have to pay double occupancy.

Beware of the 1A porthole cabins at the very front of the ship on the lower decks, can be very noisy if the sea is rough.

  4. Was anyone on here on the 11/19 cruise on the Glory? It seemed like the ship rocked an awful lot compared to past cruises we've been on (Triumph, Dream and Pride). Was it just choppy water all week or is it something about the Glory?

I was on the 11-5 and 11-12 Glory cruise and didn't notice any rough conditions, so I'm assuming it is not the ship itself.

  5. I was in Grand Turk last week 11-17-16. There are free loungers with umbrella covers and free clam shells. the umbrellas were green and the clam shells were blue. Beyond that area there are loungers and umbrellas that I saw people paying for, not sure why there were lots of free ones, we were the only ship that day.

  6. The free drink during sea day brunch is a platinum and diamond perk. The coupon is at the bottom of the P&D letter left in the stateroom.

Gold cruisers get the coupon for a free last day (evening) drink.

I just looked at the VFIP benefit chart and did not see where Golds get the free drink, I think they did away with that perk and now you get a bottle of water.

Sorry after a second look the Gold level does get the free drink coupon.

  7. I read a few posts about needing to choose when you had your room taken care of. IS this true you now have to choose a time? When did Carnival start doing that? I have not been on a cruise since 2013 when I was on the Dream and our steward must have been in our room 5 times a day. Now I guess I should say when I met him on day one I gave him a 20 and again when the cruise was over. Please confirm what you have seen.

I just saw a post from someone who is currently on the Glory, and they were not asked to fill out a card and have been receiving service twice a day.

  8. Thanks for reminding me. No form to fill out. Room Steward introduced himself just before muster. Didn't even ask about service, and it's been the normal twice a day. He is excellent!

Saffie is the CD. She's better than Eric IMHO. I felt no love for him in February and I'm glad he's not here this time. I know a lot of people like him, but not me. He might have been extra super annoying because his dad was onboard that week. I ran into her and "The Fun Squad" at Creams this morning. They are a trip.

Thanks for the info. Enjoy the rest of your cruise!!

  9. Good to know. We are doing the Carnival Glory in March, going the eastern direction.

Do you know if they have the chocolate night or buffet, or anything like that like they used to years ago?

I'm trying to get ANY info I can on the Glory.

They do not have the midnight buffet anymore, they sometimes have a Mexican buffet later in the evening after the deck party. The Chocolate Extravaganza is usually in the afternoon on the last sea day. I have been on the Glory twice before and will be sailing again in 24 days. Any other questions?
