  1. The Conch Train has been in business for a long time. It must be worth it having been a going concern for so long. I rode the train in 1960 when I first reported to my Navy ship which was home ported there, and was told by my shipmates that it was worth doing. I took my new bride for the train ride when we ended our honeymoon in Key West in December of '61. We took our kids on it sometime in the 1970's. It's always been a really good way to familiarize yourself with the island and it's history. Needless to say, Key West has changed in all these years, but it is still a unique place.

  2. As a long time resident of DFW, a former resident of both Chicago and Detroit, and a frequent business traveler to MSP, I can tell you that winter weather delays in December are minimal at DFW compared to the others. January is the month most likely to have cold weather problems at DFW, but still far less likely than up north. Actually spring and fall are the seasons when DFW gets the worst flying conditions due to thunder storms. The other factor I like to consider is the availability of later flights should I miss a connection. DFW has many flights every day to the west coast.

  3. We were on the Regatta cruise in April of this year from Miami to San Francisco, via the canal. Our passports were checked on boarding, but were never collected at all and were never needed for any of the ports on the trip. We have had passports collected on other cruises, so I was surprised that they were not on this one. Perhaps it has to do with the particular ports of call on this itinerary.
