  1. My wife and I are crushing with my parents. They are Black status, we are Gold. They dont want to use their free speciality meal. We are 3 cabins apart. Same last name. Can we trade room keys for a few hours and go use their meal?

I don't have an honesty issue here, they gifted it to us. I am wondering just the mechanics of it all. When they swipe my dad's room key will it show his picture like when you get on and off the ship?

  2. Hmmm. Status match- not black or gold. I say Tin. The level is Tin. If you have ever stayed at a Motel 6, Days Inn, or other budget hotel simply send in a photo of the towels you stole and you get MSC status match to Tin. The reward is you get to board last butime you get a standard welcome aboard letter that is already given to everyone anyway. And an invite to eat at the buffet with everyone else. What more could we put with Tin status match with the Canoe Club?

  3. MSc had many ships and about 85 percent, give or take 60 percent, seem to be about the seaside. I am tired of hearing about the seaside. Seaside, seaside, seaside. Sort of like that old line from the TV show the Brady Bunch where they say "Marsha, Marsha, Marsha!"

I wish there was a button that would hide the posts with the word seaside. It would make cruise critic much faster to read.

I am sure it is a cool ship. Just tired of seeing almost everything here being about just one ship when there are others that deserve a little love and attention. Thats all.

  4. So a lot of folks spend a lot of time talking about the y.c. I know, it's pretty cool, exclusive, expensive, and frankly sometimes it comes across a bit snobbish. Sorry, a few posts really do, to a point where the poorer rest of us almost feel like we are in stowage class. Like we are 2nd class citizens cause either y.c. is sold out or frankly we don't have the cash or we chose not to spend the cash on the exclusive y.c.

So, for the vast majority of us not in the Yatch Club I have created our own exclusive group called the Canoe Club. Still on the same water, still the same ports, just cheaper and not as fancy. Good food, same scenery, just a poor man's Yatch club called the canoe club. I'll still bring 2 suites for formal nights on the 7 nighters.

That is all. Hope eggs, or grey pupon in the case, aren't hurreled my way.

  5. We flew in day of once only to have the flight delayed and missed the ship! Had to catch up later. Never again.

Always always always fly in the day or night before. Always.

  6. Found this: Beside here is the extremely expensive Amusement Park, which includes two F1 simulators (10 euros for six minutes), a bowling alley with two lanes (30 euros for 30 minutes), a 4D cinema (eight euros or six for kids), a flight simulator (12 euros for a five-minute ride) and a video games arcade next door. There are also passes available which start at 25 euros, for which you get five euros free credit, and go up to 100 euros (plus 60 euros credit). These can be used on all the games.

  7. I have family who paid 1500 by check to l.j. they were promised a refund. We shall see. Apparently some employee or employees stole from the company. Others broke off and stole customer list I have been told. Sad story. My family was able to maintain their MSc reservation by working with MSc directly.

  8. So I couldn't find much documentation of status but found 2 old princess gold cards and a Marriott gold elite and sent info in and msc gave me gold and wife classic. So I called today and they gave us $200 credit back or so on our Deven be cruuse even though we paid in full months ago.

So go ahead and ask for it is what I learned. Also, because we booked in the USA this meditrain cruise automatically has free water in the dinning room without asking. 2 things I learned to ask for here at cruise critic. Thanks friends !

  9. Saw some posts today on social media that seemed to indicate there might have been some mechanical or steering issue. It was in a foreign lanGuage and Google translate was medium at best so hard to decipher what was really trying to be said. Anyone know more?

  10. I guess this isn't the right time or place to ask for the favor of borrowing something from you....just joking. Where is the integrity of people? If I am going to lie or cheat or game the system it won't be over a black card status. If I am going to throw away who I am and the name my father and grandfather gave me it would have to be over something pretty darn huge. If I am going to set a dishonest example for my kids and their kids, it isn't going to be for a status match. Just sayin. Not holier than thou, but rather just saying intergity is still important amongst the crowd I hang with. Hope that person represents a tiny minority of people out there.

  11. Anyone have problems and hopefully know something about how to fix them on the msc and me mobile app? We leave in 2 months or so and the app has my indo and dinning time but crashes on other tabs such as itenerary. It just stops working on my note 3 andriod. Won't clear cache either...just crashes. Anyone have a fix?

  12. Bringing my 2 youngest with wife on a med cruise on the MSC Meraviglia in December,. This required doing quite a bit of research. This cruise starts in Barcelona, hits France, Genoa, Rome, Valletta, and Malta.

I gathered info from Toms Port guide, Shore Bee, Tripadvisor, Visitacity, and scanning posts here. However some of the best info for port and the ship has actually come from searching youtube! People have made video clips with great tips about getting around, what to see, and what things look like.

And some of the best advice is:

    1. You are on vacation- don't try to do absolutely everything every single day. Rather pick out a few highlights for each day.

    2. This trip is costing a ton and the kids will have fun but probably won't appreciate it as much as we will. Due to the cost including air it is natural to want to save a few dollars here and there and find the cheapest ways to do things in port. However, time and frustration costs. Don't be penny wise and pound foolish. If the free port bus takes 30 minutes or an hour to come, is it really free? A 15 euro taxi ride into town may make the day go much better and keep the kids moving. However, rarely, it seems, is the "ships tour" the best value as in many ports the same type of tour is offered by street vendors just outside the port gates for cheaper.

    3. Yes, after a few days one cool church starts looking like the last cool church. Same about forts, ruins, museums, etc.

    4. Even though all your foods is included on the ship, try a few lunches in local places to really experience the local culture.
