Thanks for an amazing journal and photos. 2 days to go before we go to Budapest. Is there anyone on board you would like me to say hello too? Any quick tips. My friends who are occasional travelers told me they were taking 2 suitcases a piece plus carryons. I had a good laugh. Now she is wondering what to take out. I told her she can wash.

Can't wait to read rest and pictures are beautiful. I have the hospital in the rock to see Monday afternoon when all museums are closed. We leave 5/18 On River Beatrice. Set up a 3 hr Budapest Tuk Tuk tour on Friday, Saturday day trip to Puszta, horse show. Sunday, tour parliament and a museum. Board ship. Should be interesting. We are a group doing a Jewish Heritage tour. This is first time Uniworld is doing this. Uniworld set up private tours in Budapest, Bratislava, and Prague for us.

We'll be boarding River Beatrice in Budapest 4 weeks from today for our third cruise with Uniworld. :D Getting very excited for this trip...hoping that I will find time to do a day by day photo journal at some point. Budapest, Bratislava, and Passau will be new visits for us; we've been to Vienna previously.

 

 

 

Unlike our past two river cruises, we actually took a little time on either end to allow for extra sightseeing. So we are spending two nights pre-cruise at Four Seasons Gresham Palace, which is the building in Capt_BJ's first picture, right at the end of the Chain Bridge. Looks like it will be an easy walk to the ship for us - thanks for posting that picture. I had hoped it would be close enough to walk, but that is really convenient!

 

 

 

We will only need Forints and Euros as we only visit Budapest, Bratislava, and a few stops in Austria & Germany. We have some leftover Euros from prior trips so we'll find an ATM somewhere after we land and grab some Forints.

 

 

 

Like everyone else here so far, we are horrible shoppers. So I will be of little use to you in answering any questions about that aspect of the trip! Probably will come home with a few spices, like the others. Looking forward to trying some Hungarian wines, and if we get the chance, we might bring a bottle or two home as well. But we're not much on traditional souvenirs.

We will be on River Beatrice in May. Staying prior to cruise at Starlight Suilten Hotel directly behind Four Seasons. I really would appreciate recommendations for restaurants, tours, tips to make our cruise more enjoyable. This is our first time on river boat and these countries. Have a terrific time.

Can you tell me who you booked city tour with?

San Juan, Belize, and La Romana. San Juan because we have been there so many times. Belize and La Romana because we don't feel safe. In Costa Maya we rented a golf cart and had an absolute blast.

Where did you rent a golf cart in Costa Maya and where did you go.

Can you use tide pods in the washer? What is the cost? Do you use your carnival card to pay for it or cash. First Carnival cruise.

Thanks for the feedback. We are booked on May 22 cruise. This will be our first river cruise. We got category 3 and it's been sold out for a while. Doing Pre Budapest on our own and Prague with group. Couldn't convince husband to do this on own since we had to arrange our own transportation from Passau. So far 90 have signed up. You should start a roll call. Uniworlds websites haven't been the best for finding out who will be on trip and reviews of this particular cruise. Using cruise critic and other sites have been great for info.

Just did a tour with Oscar Brown and really enjoyed it. Please go see the Jaguar Rescue Center. We did a combo with #1. We got to go into a monkey area and I held a monkey. Showed us sloths, birds, other animals. This center depends on donations. There were only 4 of us and I'll take a private tour anyday. In fact as we were driving away from the Del Monte Banana Plantation, 2 40 passenger tour buses were coming up to stop. Our guide at the canals, showed us a baby alligator hidden in the bushes. We got back to the ship on time and he drove us right up to the ship's entrance. My friend even had time to do some shopping at the duty free port.

FYI - Breakfast buffet is served till 10:30 AM and Lunch starts at 11AM. Princess tour states you receive lunch. Only problem is boat leaves at 11:15 to get you back to bus for ship if you are doing the Panama Canal trip. Can't comment since at last minute I wasn't allowed to do the water slides nor snorkelling due to knee problem. Did get sun and frozen pina coladas were really good.

Will be in Vancouver when the Sapphire is docked at Canada Place East. Will be taking Sapphire the following week. With our car, can we drive over there in the morning from Richmond and see the ship? What are the restrictions? Where do we park or can we drive by. Is it too crowded and should we just forget it.

We will be staying at Coast Vancouver Airport Hotel and getting in 1:30pm to the Airport on Friday. We are flying out on Sunday at 1PM. We will go to Granville as we both liked it the last time we were in Vancouver 15 years ago. What would you suggest since we have a full day. Is it easy to get on a bus from the hotel, suggest a cab or take a tour. I did order the entertainment book since it was on sale.
