  1. Hmmm, then they should update their website. Even the confirmation I received in my email says it's a smoking room.

Where did you get the info that it is non smoking now. I have my confirmation with smoking room.

    Dawn

I don't know where some posters get their info but smoking rooms are still available upon request and availability.

  2. Wow, I definitely wouldn't rate it that low. I've been to Ocho Rios and Port-of-Spain, and while I don't know that I'd be in any real hurry to return to either, quite frankly I felt a lot less safe in Ocho Rios than I did Port-of-Spain.

Maracas Bay had a really nice beach, although I don't know that it was a great swimming beach, at least the day we were there. Violent surf that day. Talked to a local on the beach that day, and he was a real nice guy, who genuinely seemed to be interested in whether I was enjoying my stay. Unlike Ocho where it seemed like everyone on the street just wanted to sell you drugs, braid your hair, or get a handout.

Princess sometimes stops on the Amazon River cruises, although I think for one of the next two years at least they've switched it to Tobago instead.

I suppose we've got a different opinion of Trinidad because we didn't take a tour & just walked downtown on our own. I was approached for drugs one time but that wasn't the biggest problem. We walked to the Cathedral and were then headed to another church and I was checking the map for the shortest route when one of the guards began to tell us that the district (about 10 blocks) was noted as the highest crime rate area in the city.

We also found the place to be filthy with absolutely nothing of interest to shop for. Princess doesn't have one recommended store on the list. (not that I shop their recommendations). The only thing that wasn't present were the people trying to sell stuff like in Jamaica although there were panhandlers.

The only things we found to buy were located right next to the ship in a few small tents. People who took tours got a completely different view of the island from what I heard but if I even have to return, we'll definitely not get off the ship.

  3. Lets be realistic, no one really expects those "gold charms" to have real gold in them but they are fun to give to the grand kids for their collection. We've never paid a cent for any of them & collected all of them in the Caribbean, Alaska, Key West and ones from the cruise ships and only have only the Mexican coast and Las Vegas to go. All of the kids want a complete set so I guess we'll just have to keep on traveling. ;)

  4. Waste of time. You have to tender to a sand spit. Next time we will stay on the ship. I can enjoy my food better when it doesn't have sand in it. This is just my opinion.

When we were there, we rented a paddle kayak thingy. The wind was so strong, it just blew us sideways, no matter how hard we paddled. Couldn't wait to leave.

Well since you're going to a beach for the day what did you expect? They do have tables to sit at so you don't have to sit on the ground to enjoy your food.

  5. I can help. Just off the Ruby Oct 25th. Skywalker's is open 5pm-7pm for suite, platinum and elite. The 5$ drink is one cocktail selected each evening. Examples are Margarita, Cosmo or Southern Comfort Rob Roy. You can order anything at the regular price.

Were the $5 Margaritas the same size as the ones offered in Adadio's. They came in a hugh glass with a green stripe. If so that would be a bargain.

  6. Most of the people who post a negative response do not drive a bike to begin with. Seeing that you have experience, the only real hazard to contend with is driving on the left side which can be overcome very quickly when you don't have to concentrate on how to drive the bike. No one can tell you what your capabilities are, only you know that but if you want an enjoyable experience without having to resort to tours, taxi's & buses rent a bike.
