  1. Before I go any trip, I read CC or Trip Advisor so I know what to expect. When I see 10 people say, when you are in Grand Turk it took us an hour to get back on the ship when we waited to get on line at 3pm, I know to go at 230. When I see 10 people say we never got ice in our cabin, I know to ask for ice. I have been on luxury cruises as well. I watched in amusement when on Seabourn, a woman yell at everyone for 20 minutes as she was called Ms. Smith instead of Mrs. Smith. Point is, no matter what cruise line, you will have complainers.

  2. I have 2 stories as well.

    1. We were on the Splendor 2013 New Years cruise and I had promised my sister I would not gamble a lot (Boo!) so we spent a lot of time at the sports bar. The bartender at the time was Stanislov, who we got to know really well. My niece had come in 1 night to say hi and Stanislov evidently overheard my niece ask us to get the drink in the disco ball as she wanted the glass. Not sure what drink it was but it was something neither of us would drink. The next night when we were leaving he gave us 2 disco ball glasses for my niece.

    2. I was on the Conquest, the weather was so bad, the ship was really rocking. The cabin steward came in to clean and I told her not to bother as I was not feeling well She came back about 10 minutes later with ginger ale and crackers. Thought that was the most considerate thing ever.

  3. I am platinum with Carnival as well. I can guarantee that I have never yelled at anyone or removed any tips. I do think half of the issue is the individual, no matter what their level is. They will complain. The other half is Carnival's marketing. For Carnival to say, become Platinum/Diamond, you are special, you will get special perks, we value your business. If a problems comes up those members want to get treated like they were promised, special, getting something no one else will get.

It is not just Carnival but any company that has a loyalty program such as this.

  4. I cruise a lot with my sister and her 3 children. My 1st cruise with them was on the Dawn from NY in 2007. Since then we have been on 1 other NCL, the Gem in Europe. 2 Royal Caribbean and 8 Carnival cruises. Speaking for her kids, overall they have liked Carnival's kids club the most although the Allure of the Seas was probably their favorite cruise, because of the ship. Speaking for me? I was in the pool, slides, playing games, etc with the kids more on NCL over the other 2 which leads me to believe the clubs were not as good. However I do believe it also depends on the kids that happen to be in the clubs the week you travel.

If your child meets friends the 1st day, they will go back no matter what cruise they are on.

    Enjoy!

  5. I have done 5 people on the Fascination and the Triumph because they were holiday, last minute bookings. It was very tight. 2 connecting rooms would be so much better. I have booked 6 people in 1 cabin on the Allure of the Seas however that was probably the most expensive cruise to date. We probably could have done 2 suites on Carnival but my niece and nephews wanted to go on it.

  6. I have cruised a lot with my sister and her 3 children. We have tried early, late, ATD and find the Any time works best for us. With the kids in different clubs there was always a child missing dinner. Doing ATD, we can plan a good time to go and we just tell the waiter to bring the kids dinner with the rest of our aps. If no children goes, even better- LOL

  7. I was on the Splendor 3 times this year. Always booked last minute and always booked a guarantee.
