  1. They may give you a stop were you can take a good photo of the tower but you will not go that close.

I ate in the 58 Tour Eiffel several years ago and enjoyed the food. The restaurant is on a lower level so you would not get the view if you went higher. Was disappointed in the interior of Notre Dame due to the fact in the Revolution all the finery was taken out and the citizens of Paris used it as a warehouse so it is very plain inside.

Appreciate the details. What one gets from the tour is not worth the 8hr total tour bus drive just to go in and out of Paris. My DW & I will just do a closer tour from the port and save the Paris visit for some other vacation in which we are closer to the sights.

  2. Have never done this but have read from others posts. If no-one responds type in reviews of Le Havre tours and you will find reports of people who have done the tours. People who have done the restaurant views are mixed but its horses for courses. Everyone did say the Paris day was really long

Typing in Le Havre tours got me to many reviews - thanks for suggestion.

  3. Oops subject should be Paris ...

I submitted on the Port of Call forum for France and got not response so will try here w/ additional question.

How was the Princess Cruises' Paris City Drive & The Louvre Museum tour? In particular the views and food for the 58 Tour Eiffel restaurant.

Would like a comparison between this tour and the Paris City Drive & Cathedral of Notre Dame tour.

For the Paris City Drive & Cathedral of Notre Dame tour, how much did you see of Eiffel Tower and how close?

  4. Appreciate all the replies.

I looked at various tours on the excursion portion of the Princess website and they indicate that the buses are non-A/C for most if not all the Princess excursions. (Princess needs to use A/C transports. The Berlin excursion used non-A/C rail cars on the trains vs A/C for regular traffic.)

How easy is it to get an excursion by getting of the boat on the docks (in the Caribbean it is very easy)? And would the transport be A/C?

BTW - We did the Baltic last year and it was good and temperature wise in the 70's (F). But the sun is harsher these days (more like the ozone layer thinner) so it felt more uncomfortable than we would like.

  5. DW & I are considering the British Isles cruise for late August-Early Sept. Is that a good time to go? We have allergies and are concerned that when I checked the ship excursions they were almost all on non-air conditioned buses. Also would the bus windows or roof access tend to be opened?

  6. DW & I like the 4 hr scenic drive excursion by Princess but it is $99 each and also wait listed. Are there private vendors that will take you on a scenic drive and where do you contact them? We were thinking of looking for them after we had tendered to Princess Cay. Helpful suggestions?

  7. DW and I are planning to do the Australia/New Zealand cruise on the Diamond Princes in January next year. Which is best side of ship in sailing away from Sydney, especially to see the Sydney Opera House?

  8. A number a years ago, we used Princess Transfer and Air. The flight they booked us on was close to sailing time but we had no concerns. While we were waiting to be processed thru, another couple asked if we had the Princess arrangements since they had not and were concerned about getting on the ship on time. When we said were were all Princess arrangements, they said that they would stick to us like glue knowing that at worse the ship would be held for us. Needs less to say we all got on the ship on time. I think they made it when we last saw them but it looked like they were scambling to find transport to the port. I feel sorry for them but they probably made it since they only had this last step to do. No way to start a cruise vacation just to save money which in comparison to the entire cruise cost is small.
