  1. Hi, just looking for some info from anyone who has done a Diamond Princess Japan Cruise.

I am wondering when they release the excursions, how far out?  And also if they have ones that are doing Tours on disembarking Tokyo day, which include tour and airport drop off.

    Thanks

Not sure I agree as it says a 3rd country.  Japan-China-Japan is not a 3rd country.

    1. 24-Hour Direct Transit

Under the 24-hour visa-free transit rule, no visa is required for international flight, ship, or train passengers who transit directly through mainland China and will stay for less than 24 hours. Passengers should hold tickets to a third country or region and have a confirmed seat.

Those who transfer in more than one city of China within 24 hours can also enjoy this policy. For instance, if one's trip is Moscow – Lanzhou – Guangzhou – Bangkok and the total time in China is less than 24 hours, the passenger can still enjoy the 24-hour direct transit. But the passenger needs to apply for the temporary entry permit upon his arrival.

This seems to be a very complicated area, I guess to be safe I need to get a Visa

We were on a cruise in October and thought we might jump to another ship for another cruise. Went to the gentleman in the future cruise office. Thinking there might be a better deal through him we were really disappointed. Even though the ship wasn't full he didn't/couldn't offer us a better price than what was advertised.

    We ended up coming home.

    Wow, that really sucks

  4. Thanks, for the info....:)

It is our "go-to" place when we don't want to do an excursion but want to get off the ship for a few hours. We have been to Cozumel many times.

As I said we just take the cheapest package, now about $20 with $10 food and beverage credit. I believe they offer AI for about $55. I would email reservations to check on current pricing and policy.

As to whether it is "OK"? It depends what you are looking for and what facilities you need. It is a fairly small low-key, hotel with not too much in hotel building as far as I know. They have a small pool, massages, tennis, snorkeling and diving, bar and restaurant. We generally just sit and people watch, and check emails, food has been fine but we order off the menu not the buffet. We choose El Cid primarily because of our port times - if we stayed later or longer I would probably choose Park Royal because AI day pass is less expensive and facilities look nicer (nicer pools) but day pass does not start until 11am so we don't usually feel we would be there long enough to make cost worthwhile. I would add if you are docking at either of the southern piers both have the added bonus of no taxi fare as they are within a short walking distance of the pier.

You have always been able to buy day pass to either in the lobby on the day which means you have flexibility regarding the weather and change of plans.

If you have any other questions I will try and answer. If you put El Cid into search engine for this forum you will find other reports and opinions.
