  1. I have an iPhone and have not had a problem with battery life while using the Navigator app. Google “what apps are using my battery life” to investigate more throughly.
  2. @Vineyard View You can only upgrade within the same category…so least expensive inside to most expensive inside… ocean view to ocean view… vista suite to vista suite…signature suite to signature suite. You have to look at the price differences within the category. I have always come out ahead booking in the verandah category
  3. The most monetarily attractive feature is the ability to upgrade your cabin within the same category. I always book an obstructed view verandah and upgrade to the best available verandah. If not sailing on a Pinnacle ship, it is the only reason I would book CO.
  4. We are on the cruise departing January 29. Our Punta del Estes stop was cancelled about two weeks ago and Castro Isla Chiloe was added. Unfortunately, that threw everything off by a day. I had to reschedule 5 private tours. I hope the same thing does not happen to you. @bbro Not sure how much use you will get from a cabana in Antarctica, expect cool temperatures and a lot of wind.
  5. A translation since I wasn’t familiar with the quote: Remember Barbara It was raining ceaselessly on Brest that day And you were walking smiling Glowing overjoyed streaming Under the rain by Jacques Prevert (France’s most popular port of the 20th century)
  6. Good Morning! It is still a rainy & windy morning in MD. A good day to try a new cookie recipe, chocolate chip coconut. They are supposed to be very moist and chewy. MD weather has changed since I was a girl, not as much snow. But as Justin Berk says, have “Faith in the Flakes” I love a good snow storm. I hope @ottahand7 enjoyed her early birthday gift…Ravens win and clinch a playoff spot! Since no one has posted any pictures of Brest, I will share some pictures on Quimper. We used one of our “free” HIA excursions to take a tour there from the port of Brest. It is a beautiful town in Brittany known it’s pottery. Notice how the upper floors protrude over the first floor. That is because tax is based on the size of the first floor. We were told that the small room jutting from the side of the building was the bathroom. Long ago there was a hole in the floor that went directly into the canal below. The Saint Corentin Cathedral The Breton County Museum Wishing everyone you best possible day.
  7. Just ask. Most bars have 0% beer. I'm glad you don't have any issues! Be sure to check out the "Coffee Chats" on sea days. Very informative and a wonderful opportunity to ask questions of the heads of various departments. I always enjoy the Food & Beverage manager and the Head Chef the most. My DH likes to hear from the Engine and Environmental departments.
  8. If I have a minor problem, I use the “let us know” feature on the Navigator app. I have always received a quick response. I hope you have a satisfactory meeting with the Guest Services manager
  9. Did you check the bars by the pools. Previously, the Lido bar by the covered pool opened by 9 and the Seaview Bar by the outdoor pool opened by 10. Weirdly, I did not see either bar listed on the Daily you posted
  10. For those of you who enjoyed the poem @bennybear posted yesterday, I encourage you to read more of Donna Ashworth’s poetry. In her own words, she is, “ sharing the dark with the light to harness hope”. She has several books. I am embarrassed to admit that when I was invited to an “ugly sweater part” I borrowed a sweater from my Mom. It was a sweater she regularly wore during the Christmas season. Positive thoughts to those who need them. Cheers to those celebrating and cruising.
  11. You will also have Elemis hand lotion in a dispenser by the sink in the bathroom.
  12. You can order a cheese plate for dessert even if you don’t see it on the menu. Go for it!
  13. Two long sleeved dress shirts, two short sleeved dress shirt, three pair jeans, three yoga pants, one athlete shorts, one tshirt ( not shown, folded in basket undergarments and socks).
  14. If you like scallops, order them. They were better in CO than they were in the Pinnacle. Thanks for taking us along on the NS. I look forward to my first time aboard her for two weeks in March.
  15. @bennybear Today, I was not the one who made the book recommendation; it was @ottahand7 (go Ravens!). However, I have read the Mantle’s Wolf Hall trilogy. I had a bit of difficulty keeping all the Cromwells straight. I finally used a strategy I taught my students; I made a character list and used it as a book mark. I know many loved the books but I found them challenging; perhaps because I didn’t have a great deal of knowledge about the history before I read them. @JazzyVImpressed you did the bridge walk!
  16. South Africa celebrates the “Day of Reconciliation”, a public holiday since 1994 to foster reconciliation and unity. Wishing everyone the best possible weekend.
  17. We will be visiting the same ports in March. Have been to all of them before. Have plans for all of them except St Thomas. Will probably just take a cab to the beach. Prefer to avoid Magens because of the crowds. Would be interested in knowing any info about cabs and independent beach excursions from anyone on the ship. TYIA
  18. HAL never sails out of Baltimore (although I wish they did) and very rarely sails out of Miami. HAL Caribbean cruises sail out of Port Everglades. I don’t think the port matters. More important is the time of year ( if school is out, more kids) and the length of the cruise (shorter cruise, more people first time on HAL) I hope you enjoy your cruise.
  19. Thank you for all your wonderful pictures and commentary. How are you paying cabs? Have you changed any money? Did you enjoy the food at the tango show? Have you had any other local food?
  20. What a positive attitude, I guess as long as your glasses were full😊
  21. Omg, I am patient but not that patient. I’d be at the podium speaking to the maitre de after I sent a message on the Navigator app. You’ve paid for CO and deserve outstanding service.
  22. @Crazy For Cats Thank you. I can’t believe how expensive Ft Lauderdale hotels are in March. I booked the Riverside, about $375 with tax and then someone mention the Hyatt Place through Value Trips which I have booked for $325 with tax. Still looking. Clean and close to the port are my priorities. Shuttle not necessary, they frustrate me ( for the reasons you experienced). Thank you again. I hope you have a wonderful cruise.
  23. Would you be comfortable sharing the name of your hotel? Other than the shuttle snafu, were you satisfied? Bon Voyage. I hope you get out ahead of the rain.
  24. The pool is NOT closed. It is leaking from the corner closest to the Lido and the bar. Look at the pictures in posts 184 & 185. The crew squeegee the area constantly. There are often “wet floor” signs. I advise caution because it can be slippery if you are not paying attention. It was like this in February and October of this year.
  25. I am disappointed that the “leak” in the Seaview pool still hasn’t been fixed. Should this sign say WOK Station?Looking forward to your continued reporting. Thanks for taking us along my.
