  5. Hi Jay Bee ( Jan )

Just wanted to let you know that yes I have heard back from Scenic and no issues with conversing between Lyon and Macon.

The "Technical Issues" would appear to do a lot with Water Levels and Low Bridges on the river between the two cities and if I remember right you are cruising with Viking and their ship are somewhat higher than that of Scenic Ships.

Hoping that this may be of some help you.

Are you going to be doing any sort of a Blog during your cruise? Have you ever been over in this particular part of France Before? Do you happen to have any sort of inside info as to place to go and see or things that aren't to be missed?

We made our plane reservations yesterday and are flying into Paris on The 19 and our cruise doesn't set out until the 25 of September of 2017, so time to do some looking around and Sightseeing.

    Wishing You Smooth Sailings

Fun For All and All For Fun Loungin" Laughin" and Libations"

    Happy ThanksGiving.

    Gary

  6. Hey Jay Bee,

I have just talked with the folks at Scenic here in the US and haven't heard of anything but I read your post to them and they are contacting their operations department to see if this pertains to all cruise lines or just Viking. Did you find out in calling as to what the " Technical Issue " is?

    Thanks

    GARY

  8. Howdy and Good Morning Once Again,

Just stopping back by to see if we may have had any of you folks out there that may possibly be joining Lisa and myself, along with our friends from Canada Faye and Ralph on this to be Funtastic Scenic cruisin Adventure. " The Spectacular South Of France with Paris and Monte Carlo " sailing September 24th,2017.

Looking to see if we may have anyone that maybe interested in using some of their E Bikes and doing a little peddling along the Rhone.

Including a link as to give you folks some sort of an idea. Don't get me wrong as I am 66 so will be taking it nice and easy along with taking a few photos here and there along the way.

Also was going to say at present Scenic has some Mini Brochures one of which is The Captivating Wonders of France and has some rather good information along with some photos of The Brand New Culinaire and also The Royal Owners Suite of which we are in Cabin 312.

Saying a Big Hello to all our other fellow passengers as the ship is close to being fully booked. Hoping that some of you may come and join in on our thread here.

    Smooth Sailings

    Lisa and Gary

    LoneStarCruisinCouple

  9. Oh you shall enjoy the Four Seasons. We stayed there after our cruise with Scenic last year for three days and had a fabulous time. If you have time get the Concierge to make you a dinner reservation at the Fisherman's Bastion. Is like having a Fairyland at your feet as the lights of the city start to shimmer and glow. If you get a chance say hello to Mr. Yves Giacometti the General Manager of the hotel and Karolina Szabo Concierge Manager. They both do an excellent job. We had a suite on the top floor overlooking the Chain Bridge.

If you want a libation talk a little walk and go over to the Jewish community and go to Szimpla Kert. Rated as one of the Worlds Best Bars.

  10. Just wanted to check back in and again possibly see if we have had any of our fellow passengers to post on our thread here on Cruise Critic.

Yes I know like most it is a long shot with the boats limited to the number of passengers, but just never know as Cruise Critic has a huge following.

Was just checking a moment ago and our ship for our sailing September 24,2017 Spectacular South Of France with Paris and Monte Carlo on The Sapphire is getting close to being fully booked.

We shall have a boat load of folks to mix and mingle with and get to know over a Cocktail or a Glass Of Wine as we enjoy another FUNTASTIC CRUISIN ADVENTURE with Scenic.

Yes the cruise is always Spectacular with Scenic and with the new addition of The Rouge in Lyon and with The Sapphire being redesigned with The addition of The Vitality Pool and The Innovative Culinaire and the addition of the new category of cabins it is even going to be better than before.

So sending out a Great Big Howdy There Folks from Lisa and Gary ( LoneStarCruisinCouple ) cabin312 to come and join us for a Fun Filled Fun Packed Cruising Adventure as we discover The South Of France and The Great and Wonderful Tasting Wines that we all shall enjoy together.

Fun For All and All For Fun

  11. Morning All,

I think it also has a great deal to do with your Butler as in our case we had the evening before a Cocktail Party in our cabin with 14 folks and yes our Butler had taken care of everything from tables set up with Wines to tables set up with Horderves and aTable with various cheeses along with a bottle of Crown with mixers.

Got to know him very well and even with me asking him to join in he did what he was there to do and that was to take care of all of us and see that we had a great and wonderful time.

Maybe being in a different cabin had something to do with it but all in all it is a matter that you are on vacation and you are there to enjoy. So maybe walking to the bar or not just simply have an enjoyable time.

On our cruise we had also made very good friends on an excursion with the owner of one of the wineries and he had also sent along back to the ship a couple of bottles of wine that we had enjoyed during the evenings entertainment.

Just realize that your glass isn't going to run dry..

    Wishing all Smooth Sailings

  12. Thank you everyone for your kind comments.

I'm still a little busy writing the sequel, the FULL itinerary and will post a link when it is finished.

Very Impressive Solent Richard, and my hat is off to You Sir for such a Great and Wonderful Job. I think that the next cruise with Scenic should be on them as with your Blog not only of The Diamond but also your cruise and those of us that are Reading and Looking at your Lovely Photos just wants to make us all pack right now and Go On Scenic that is.

You and I have talked several different times in the past as I have asked various different questions and you were always so very nice in helping me out.

Lisa and I are going to be cruising next September in France and doing what is called The Spectacular South Of France ( Wine Country ) with Paris and Monte Carlo on The newly Redesigned Sapphire and lucky also as Scenic called to see if we wanted to be Upgraded to one of The New Royal Owners Suites as we were in one of The Royal Panorama Suites,so we shall see what the differences are.

Just wanted to ask what sort of camera are you using as your photos have come out excellent.

Once again thanks for sharing as you are certainly a true artist when it comes to writing your Travel Blog.

    Cheers and

    Warmest Wishes

    Lisa and Gary

Ps Howdy Canal and still think we all need to plan another cruise on Scenic Together..

  13. Good Afternoon One and All,

First very well put Canal as how can you make any sort of a comparison of one ship to a fleet of ships.

Yes they do seem to have a lot going for them and myself I like the idea of the retractable bar on The Sun Deck. Great idea and having the TV's built into the mirror's in the bathrooms.

Yes must admit that I am a Scenic cruiser and shall be cruising on the newly redesigned Sapphire in one of the Brand new cabin categories that has been added to Scenic on some of their ships that are sailing in France called The Royal owners Suites.

All I can say at present is that we shall see.

    Sailing September 24,2017

Spectacular South Of France ( Wine Country ) with Paris and Monte Carlo

Sailing October 18,2018 Cuba in Depth on The Brand new Eclipse.

    Wishing Crystal The very best.

Have also gotten our Hotel reservations taken care of in Paris at The Marriott Opera Ambassador and shall be staying there from the 19 and checking out on the 25 for our ride on the TGV down to Dijon and then onto Chalon- Sur- Saone and The Sapphire.

  15. Howdy and Good Morning One and All,

For those of you that may possibly be cruising in France next year and booked on The Diamond,Emerald and or Sapphire Scenic has a new brochure out called "The Captivating Wonders of France".

Has pictures of the newly redesigned area called the Culinaire and does it ever look to be a Big Hit for Scenic and also for those of you that just might be lucky enough as to be booked into one of The new Royal Owners Suites there is also a picture of at least your Living Room.

Yes Lisa and I are going to be seeing what these new suites have to offer over and beyond The Royal Panorama Suites as we gave up our Panorama Suite when Scenic called to see if we wanted to Upgrade.

Gives a lot of information regarding the various cruises and also gives some helpful info as to the Various ports and sights that may be of some interest to us all.

Can't wait as have already been doing lots of planning and we shall be flying over on September the 18,2017 as to have several days ahead of our cruise on the 24 to do some Exploring and Sight Seeing of Paris.

Still hoping to possibly make contact with some of you folks out there that maybe joining us on this cruise.

Spectacular South Of France ( Wine Country ) With Paris and Monte Carlo September 24,2017 on The Scenic Sapphire.

    We are in cabin 312.

Warmest Wishes To One and All!

  16. As you said earlier it isn't a matter of cabin size. More a matter of having a Fun Filled Fun Packed cruising adventure.

One thing funny was like most booked with Viking but cancelled.

We Rafted with the Viking ship that we were to be on and as luck would have it the folks that were in the Explorer Suite that we were to be in were out on their balcony and we started talking and had them come over and join us for a Cocktail and when they came in and saw our cabin and found out All the Perks and the price became Fans of Scenic.

  17. Yes we have certainly enjoyed cruising with Scenic and with being an Australian company most of the passengers are Australian and know for sure how to have a Funtastic time and down some of those froths.

Nice for me as I spent most of my younger years growing up in Melbourne. Now 66 so some time back. My mother was Australian.

  19. Howdy and Good Morning One and All,

Well looks to be that we are just about right at a year from now and we shall be on our way over to Paris and this to be yet another Funtastic Scenic Cruising Adventure filled with Loungin" Laughin" and oh yes don't forget All Those Tasty Libations.

Have seen lots of hits on the thread here but yet as to make any sort of contact with anyone that may possibly be joining us on " The Spectacular South Of France ( Wine Country ) with Paris and Monte Carlo for September 24,2017 on The Sapphire.

Was just going to say that this coming year there is going to be yet another new Scenic Enrich for this cruise in Lyon called The Scenic Rouge and if one should go to YouTube and type in Scenic Rouge you can look at a sort video of what we all are looking forward to seeing under The Big Top along The River. From what I have seen looks to be another Big Hit for Scenic.

Yes I know it is a long shot on my part in hoping to make any sort of contact with fellow passengers on this particular cruise, but there is always that chance. Would be nice in sharing any ideas and or in possibly setting up a Meet and Greet prior to the cruise in Paris.

There happens to be a very good restaurant that is close to the Marriott Opera Ambassador Hotel where we all are going to be spending the evening of the 24, called Le Grand Colbert and would be a nice place to possibly gather and share in not only a very good meal but also have a chance as to mingle and get to know one another.

Anyway, just wanted to say Hi from Lisa and myself Gary ( LoneStarCruisinCouple ) from Sugar Land,Texas where life is just a Little Sweeter.
