We need to cancel our cruise due to an emergency. We do not have trip insurance. Norwegian doesn’t want to know anything.

    What can we do?

Why would Norwegian want to know anything? You made the decision not to buy cruise insurance with the knowledge that you would save some money but also knowing you will not be covered if you had to cancel. You are entitled to nothing. It is what it is.

Thank you to those who understand that my reasoning for asking about removing gratuities, that it has nothing to do with trying to save money.  It has everything to do with being skeptical of NCL taking a cut of the gratuities and not paying a livable wage.  I just assumed that the staff would prefer to be tipped directly with cash.  I'm just a first time cruiser who does not have knowledge about how everything works and I appreciate those who responded without name calling or making assumptions.

Don’t be cheap! Don’t remove the tips!!!

Really? Let's say, you do not have a computer or your computer has broken down so you were not able to book excursions online. Then you board the ship and find all excursions have been sold out and you are SOL just because you don't have a computer?

Nay, this isn't right or fair. So only a percentage of excursions are sold online in advance. The rest are sold onboard.

    Cheers.

Exactly. Shore excursions are like dining reservations. You can pre-book if you wish but only a certain percentage are sold in advance.

  4. You can walk to the Hilton and use their beach and pool with a day pass. You can get the day pass on line anywhere from $79 to $100 pp and this also includes a $40pp credit to be used for drinks and food. I would recommend purchasing in advance as only a limited number of day passes are sold.

We ended up booking a Bermuda cruise, but went with Celebrity instead of NCL because they had a better overall package even after deducting our Nextcruise vouchers.

You definitely made the right choice in picking Bermuda over Cuba!!!

Obviously everyone has different opinions. I always bring my cabin steward chocolate, energy bars & nuts(peanuts seem to be a favorite). I have been thanked profusely, as well as been given champagne, bottles of water, trinkets from their home countries, etc, so I'm assuming they have been happy. Their cabins are small so I keep selections to consumables.

Trust me your cabin steward is just being polite when you give him these gifts. Cash is king and is the thing that is most apppreciated by a crew member for a job well done.
