  1. Hi Ashley,

You should be able to combine the New Deployment OBC with 1 other offer. The reason I say "should" is that every promo has many lines of terms and conditions, so you can never be certain anymore. When something like 123 GO occurs, and you wish to add it to your booking, you will likely have to pay the prevailing rate for your cabin, so it may or may not make sense. However, you should not have to cancel and rebook.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. Enjoy your Cruise !

Thank you , Andy. This was very helpful and cleared up a lot of my questions. As our cruise is just over a year away, I hope a good deal comes up!

Thanks again and have a wonderful day!

  2. Hi all,

We just booked the 5/21/2015 Equinox, Rome to Barcelona (Istanbul overnight).

Our X consultant told us we got the $175 "New Deployment OBC" and she said this can be combined with other offers.

I am new to the world of combining offers. Does this mean if something like 123GO or Pick Your Perk comes back we can combine?

Would we have to cancel, re-book at the new price? (which could be higher?)

    Thank you in advance.

    Smiles,

    Ashley

  3. To the OP, I like DINK, have you heard of THINKERS? (Two Healthy Incomes No Kids Early Retirements) :p or something like that ;) My husband and I do not have children yet but I like the DINK way of life haha ;)

Interesting. I have two cruises booked on the Equinox. If the glass show is replaced by a BBQ joint, I will probably replace those cruises. I can get BBQ anywhere. A hot glass show--not so much.

Agree, we would most likely cancel too. The CMOG at Sea is unique. For what it is worth, I am friends with a few of the gaffers. They both told me the hot glass show was not being replaced (at least anytime soon, they are still doing contracts). What IS being replaced is their showcase area and the Lawn Club store, the glass show remains.

  4. I would hate that, I love the Hot Glass Show. And there are already ships with the Lawn Club. I stick to the 3 ships that have the Hot Glass Show. Why take away an option and replace it with something that already exists on other ships?

I agree 100% If Celebrity reads this, CMOG is a huge factor in our choice of cruising on X over other lines. (of course we love X for other reasons, but CMOG makes X stand out) We pick 1 of the 3 hot glass ships only :) That is how much we enjoy it! To us, that is our #1 form of entertainment on board.

  5. I am assuming the new photo studio is replacing the Lawn Club Store? That is what a friend told me who is a gaffer with CMOG.

I never got my pink Lawn Club t-shirt. I'm sure the Lawn Club store was not a big money maker, but I did enjoy the Lawn Club store items since you can only get that on ship. I have a key chain and gray t-shirt from our first cruise and was hoping to buy more Lawn Club items.

  6. We have been trying to book a cruise to Europe for this summer and the airfares are crazy. That is a good reason why the cruise prices are low - they can't fill the ships.

We are waiting and if it happens - it happen. We flew from MIA (direct) to Rome last summer and returned from Venice to MIA for $878 RT PP. This year the fares are between $1,600 - $1,800PP RT. We are not going to book a $1,000 PP cruise and spend $2,000 PP on the air fare and baggage.

The cruise lines need to work with the air lines or they will have empty ships and empty planes.

    We will wait and see.

    Happy cruising. :)

I agree. We had to cancel our med cruise for this October because of plane ticket prices :( The plane ticket is only $100 less! No way will we spend almost as much on air as our 13 day cruise :(

Meanwhile, we will continue trying to build skymiles. Maybe we will make it back to Europe in 2015.

  7. Things we did:

    Set up designated meeting time/place

Write notes and place them in the room number spot by the door

Use the phones all over ship to leave messages

We found (on a longer cruise) everyone kinda finds their "spot" they like. If we were looking for someone we typically new where to start. Or you might run into one family member who will say X person is in Y place.

I was worried about communication at first. On a 12 night cruise, we only had one miscommunication error :)

  8. I took my first med cruise on Celebrity. My husband and I are 27. I have been on other cruise lines so I can compare some about the crowd. There will be not a lot of children. Of course it depends on time of year/if it is a holiday. We went in May-June, hardly any kids.

As others have pointed out, airline tickets will cost quite a bit. My husband and I are saving up our sky miles now for our next med trip.

Just my 2 cents, I would try to do a longer cruise. it is a big trip to get over there! We spent almost 3 weeks (had a pre cruise and post cruise trips in Barcelona and Paris).

The boards here were a HUGE help when we were planning. Ask any questions!

I have a detailed review if you are interested :

  9. L'Entrecote in Paris...There is one near Porte Maillot and one just off Boulevard St Germain close to the Seine along from Notre Dame. Best steak in Paris.... sauce to die for.

    Enjoy :)

I just recommended Relais too! I should have read the whole thread first ;)

We loved it so much, we went twice! Since our trip we have tried on a few times to replicate the secret sauce, quite the challenge!

  10. If you like steak, I highly recommend Relais de l'entrecote in Paris; we ended up eating there twice! They only serve steak-frites, and they have PERFECTED it! I think it was like 25 or 30 euros? Which we thought was an outstanding price for what we got.

Here is the direct link to my review (with pics) of Relais:

  11. Ashley, your review is one of the best ones I've ever read. Its like we're taken on a magical journey. Wonderful story-telling. I'd pay a good amount of money to read your articles on travel. Will wait for your next review. Cheers!

    Ashley,

Your wedding pictures are beautiful. Your writing has an amazing way of connecting to people...I felt like I knew your family after reading about your review and wedding. I was glad your Dad got to experience driving the sports car in Paris, you with the macarons....could go on and on....

Best wishes to you as you finish school and plan your next trip. Linda

Oh my goodness, you both are TOO kind! Thank you so much, wow. It was a magical trip and I just let my heart and feelings spill out onto the keyboard. I will get my honeymoon trip report up one of these days. I've realized my problem is that I work from home (online), I work on my dissertation (typing and online research) so by the time I am done with those 2 tasks I just want to get away from a computer!

I need to pay someone to transcribe my written/traditional journal for me :p

  12. I just started this review tonight and I can't put it down! I am identifying with you and your love of travel so much! I'm also in education and live in Atlanta. I'm 27 now but did my first nice celebrity cruise last year and am hooked! I loved Barcelona when I visited with friends a few years ago. Great choice for your honeymoon! If you love Gaudí, don't miss Park Güell. It's so beautiful and has breathtaking views of the Mediterranean. The Miró museum was also a fav. Who am I kidding, nothing was bad ;)Can't wait to read more!

Wow, thank you so much for the kind words and tips! We cannot wait to get back to Barcelona! I see you have 2 Celebrity cruises this year, lucky you! I would love to read your reports if you do one :)

    (we live in Gwinnett) :D

  13. I have been following your all of your posts from the beginning and have been waiting for photos! Thanks for posting today!!! You look beautiful and it looks like it was a perfect day. Congrats to you both and thanks so much for sharing. Beautiful photos!!!

I can't wait for your next cruise report.

Your photos are stunning. Wishing you many happy years together.

Thank you all so much! Almost 4 months into marriage, happier than ever :D:D:D:D

  14. CruisingGatorGirl:

Both of your dresses are gorgeous and you wear them well. The two of you make a very charming couple. Congrats on your marriage. Would love to see pictures of both of you from your wedding day.

Love dress picture threads! I posted some other dresses in the original thread. I wear a dress every night.

I'll post my 2 formal dresses I wore on my last cruise:

This first dress I bought new for our honeymoon. I bought it to "replace" my old beaded prom dress I was wearing on cruises. I wanted more of a classic beaded dress. (my prom one was blue beaded)

I LOVE the grey dress, so beautiful

    Thank you both SO much!

To see pictures from our wedding day, this is a public facebook album anyone can see :)

  15. I couldn't get the link to work :(. But I find my biggest issue with full beaded or sequin dresses is the weight (airline restrictions). I pack anything heavily beaded in our garment bag because of the weight.

Regardless, I do pack them in the dry cleaning bag. I find wrinkling is not an issue with beaded/sequin clothing articles, which is nice!

I have done both- folded in suitcase and in garment bag. Either way they came out just fine. Like I said above, my biggest issue is weight and airline restrictions.

  16. I'm surprised you found it at Macys - not because I don't like them, I actually worked at one for about 4 years - but because I have never seen anything like it at the macys around here!

    GREAT find!!

Me too! That was probably my 3rd trip to Macy's and I spotted that, all by itself. Maybe it was a return from online? I know this is a "good" problem to have but I actually had a hard time finding dresses my size. I found most of the gowns in stores like Macys and Dillards did not come smaller than a size 4. I lost 60-70 pounds several years ago, so trust me I was happy to have this problem. Anyway, it was a long process!

Hey CruisingGatorGal, you look STUNNING in that beaded dress and I'm so glad you treated yourself to it for your honeymoon. Wondering if you felt overdressed in it.... Seems people aren't dressing up as much as they used to.

And Mrsfoose, I rarely find dresses at Macy's that work for me as I don't think their selection is great. But their online selection is awesome! It's the opposite at Lord and Taylor (my go to dress buying store). Great selection in the store but less so on online.

DD is a senior in high school so we are in the throes of prom and white graduation dress shopping. Ordered a ton of dresses from Macy's and went actual shopping at L&T. Found a few that she liked and that flatter her. Final choice is a navy blue gown that cost me $79.20! And she's wearing a pair of my dressy sandals and using one of my silver evening bags. How's that for coming out of this on the cheap side. Now she's angling for a new dress for Awards night that can also be worn on our June Med cruise!

    Carol, thank you :D

I don't think we felt over dressed, at least not that we noticed. We did notice A LOT of floor length gowns while were waiting to go in the MDR. Our honeymoon was a longer cruise (12 days), maybe that helped. I do think it was not as dressy as our Med. cruise. However, WAY dressier than my bachelorette party cruise on Carnival  I have never been on a shorter X cruise so cannot compare.

There were a good number of floor length gowns, I was not alone.

However, I am one to dress up every night and live by "it is always better to overdress than under dress" and "dress to impress" :o:) Several of my every night dresses could be worn on formal night (short, fancy cocktail dresses). DH loves to wear suits and often wore them on regular nights. (I still need to get my honeymoon trip up!)

    p.s.

I LOVE navy! Can't wait to see pictures of her dress. Navy is such a classic color. Unlike my aqua beaded prom dress I had in 2003  Hey, bright colors were the "in" thing back then ;)

  17. We used them in December 2013 and our tour was FANTASTIC!

I hope MFM is not out of business, we were very satisfied with our tour and would use MFM again.

Even on our rainy day, we had Mario #3 and he made the most of our time, despite the rain.

Hope to hear some positive updates :(
