  1. For very long stay there is Southampton parking at £1day not central. Hotel/park can be a good option loads of options from central or a bit further out packages often include taxis We also use the parking space brokers that sell parking spaces for others, often find hotel carparks. No need to pay more than £6 day at West quay multi story. Or council. https://www.southampton.gov.uk/travel-transport/find-and-plan/find-parking/cruise-parking/ There is only so much the convenience of port parking is worth, when you can get hotel park and the taxis for similar money that's what we go for. Saving 20mins after the cruise to be on my way quickly is not worth as much as CPS charge.
  2. This false allocation of drinks goes back to to the introduction of drink limits. At least now you can monitor in the app. The allocation of drinks by crew to one card is against Princess own policies of no sharing. Why are passengers being asked to remind bar crew of their obligations to the company to monitor for sharing when they happily allow sharing. (I understand some may consider sharing with another passenger with the same package does not count.) Another form of sharing would be plus<->premier. If hanging out with someone with the different package you could swap drinks. I have suggested before Since it is easy for couples to manage their allocation to save extras for the drinker they should just combine the cabin allowance.
  3. Having just been through a booking exercise a few observations. Princess cabin sizes are very similar so going up does not get loads of space. We don't use balconies but do like space and cabin location drive our choice. Some cruise lines/ships there can be a significant jump in space going OV balcony. Some cabins are not shown where some might look, eg obstructed can to be under inside selection, often with low premium over inside compared to regular. A balcony searcher may never realise there is the same cabin just a few down over a lifeboat or if lucky one of the unobstructed will be available or the balcony might just not have glass fronted rail. Eg. one I have booked, the current rates are £799 Inside £899 obs balcony(our choice for location near stairs) £949 deluxe obs balcony £999 balcony (deck 8 same as obstructed just a couple of cabins down) ... A previous trip we found we were spending quite a bit of time in the retreat area, we wanted to try a cabin with very easy access to the retreat pool and bar, no insides available in that area so booked balcony to try it, will review once done.
  4. The 30% is the DFS cruise sale. All cruise lines have some kind of ongoing fake sale, prices get adjusted all the time whatever that figure says.
  5. NCL have that model(different numbers) for their speciality included in Free at sea, they also give an extra one if you book a balcony or above.
  6. We have had the can't wait any longer ,get the drink then it turns up. We have a strategy on all cruises to make sure we can get prompt service in venues when not sitting at the bar. Watch the delivery routes the servers take and make sure you sit on a return route so more servers pass you.
  7. We come from a different angle as we can do cruises with little/no paid drinks. Usual variables itinerary port to sea days time in ports ability to take stuff on convenience. Plus 2 main things in plus are CA and beverage. We do the casual so have value there depending on ship that have sushi and other not pizza options having seen the sushi set menu it does not fit our normal selection. Internet access we can get cheap roaming for most itinerary and can be offline overnight sea days. Rare we ever have room service. Rare we use OceanNow. Unless things have improved quicker to use bar/servers and one of our drinks is not available on the app anyway With the £50pppd and £13 for CA that leaves £37pppd to mainly cover beverage. We can PAYG cheaper on many cruises(oh is always a light/no drinker) which give me £60pppd. A ship with good casual it get better and depends on number of days. Sea day intensive like a TA we can make it work. Now in the UK the package is on offer regularly enough to get better value. Current UK offer is premier for plus. My latest bookings were done at 50% that's makes Plus £12pppd(£25-£13) and the extra on top for Premier (£65 full price ) is £7.50. Those are well within our spend range and the convenience factor value secures. Can keep our 1 time mini bar topped up as we go. With the 2 speciality meals on Premier that covers the extra cost for upto 10day cruise longer and the value starts to fade but may do casual more to cover that. YMMV. (Sometimes I fancy a boozy cruise then it's package)
  8. It's built into the UK £ price from the $ with 18% On one of my bookings the standalone beverage packages are. Today's exchange. £62.12 == $78.88 £81.23 == $103.15
  9. There is Premium for Plus price in the UK. A Captain's circle discount finished this week.
  10. You are still paying for it They had to put the charge on to try to get the packages up to the cost charged.
  11. Our last cruise we noticed there was some massive inefficiency with OceanNow. Could be on a table near a bar the ocean now order would come from a different bar/bar pantry rather than the nearest bar that had table servers. Often easier to just order through the servers.
  12. Especially now it comes with a $15 starting charge.
  13. When the offer was first put up they got the amenities wrong for a day or two. Have a look in the captain's circle account and see if premier is marked as purchased for your bookings.
  14. Image is a starting point smart people look beyond the image at the reality when choosing new products or services and review their current ones regularly. Brand image changes quickly in the cruise industry and is seen very differently by different groups. As many have said this current Princess mess will be long forgotten in a few months, in the big picture of world cruise passengers most will be oblivious of this little blip and those that do will not be bothered, the few thousand directly effected most will take it on the chin as they know it happens. The primary thrust of brand is to attract new passengers even fewer of those will be bothered by a couple of cancellations. For Princess image the Sun issues will do less damage than the continuous increase and new charges to try to justify the excessive cost of the Plus and Premium. The charge to activate OceanNow a fundamental feature of Medallion class cruising was a sign of desperation. One could put a case that ultimately the buck stops with Carnival corp management, the "I am done" people should drop all carnival brands for their failures on any brand if they drop one brand. For Princess the planned timing was bad as Sun was due too close to the Icon and even if Sun was successful it would have been overshadowed by Icon. When looking at the rate for my cabin range Icon was seriously premium, Sun was just a bit premium. Clearly the interest/demand was with Icon. RCI have pull another publicity win with the RTW Red Sea diversion putting itinerary change to a vote. Wonder how many would return if they offered get the Premier package and your cruise is free?
  15. On our bookings the second passenger was recognised as a CC member and booking shows their status and is accessible from their account. Check if the booking has you identified as an existing customer. You should be able to access it by booking number
  16. A point I made earlier, if you are going to take the moral "never again" high ground you should apply it across all cruise lines.
  17. Those that in the 15+ camp will already be managing their cards appropriately. On a sea day a beer drinker could easily get through 15 of those tiny American beers.
  18. That has happened to us, now whenever she is around we try to use her card to keep mine clear in case she heads off to bed before me. Our regular spots usually catch on and spread the charges. Princess should just join the counts and make it 30 per couple.
  19. If you can you get out, to avoid charges you leave promo and go slow to save fuel.
  20. When I started looking no Insides were for sale this was before the cruises were blocked. That was upto 460 held back. Did the us ever have insides available?
  21. For some of the workers Rome may give better routes home.
  22. Thought I saw an upgrade post on the other place UK specific group will keep looking.
  23. I worked out a long time ago those invested in a cruise do get very upset when things go wrong but as sympathetic as I want to be I fall into the never say never even when we are invested and things go wrong. If you sympathise to the point of that was bad I am going to avoid that ship/line you run out very quickly I may get mad and wide berth for a while but over time all cruise lines change and the pecking order and value points change along with the various offers. When the price and expectations realign we are back.
  24. Picking standard there are two no alcohol options UK prices (plus package is £50, CA £12.70) Zero alcohol £28.67 total(£41.37) Classic soda £14.33 total(£27.03) Both cheaper than plus. For details of what included in each Classic soda https://book.princess.com/html/global/personalizer/ssv/beverages/classic-soda-package-disclaimer/index.html Zero alcohol https://book.princess.com/html/global/personalizer/ssv/beverages/zero-alcohol-package-disclaimer/index.html
  25. Cruise lines have worked out if you can get people to spend up front with packages many will spend more in total on board over a PAYG passenger that pays basic up front. This is mass statistics there are plenty than can say I spend less paying up front and I pay less PAYG the cruise lines have the data from millions of trips. It is clear by the 50% plus offers the gradual price increases and new charges not enough have been packaging. The move to charge for OceanNow activation a fundamental feature of Medallion class ships is a sign something is not right. On the other side Just as some may be cruising sugar free some can cruise alcohol free and some can cruise no paid beverage and no paid food. There will always be the no package cruisers when a significant feature of the package is justified by inflated alcoholic drinks prices.
