  1. We are from the prairies in Canada.

We are sailing out of San Juan in January, I bought my flights in July, and USAir/American Airlines have NOW totally messed with them.

We were flying from Minneapolis to Charlotte.

The changed all the times and we had to change to a flight out of Philly.

    BLECK!!!

Anyways, I don't know if its Charlotte or the airline or what but it is super frustrating especially for someone like me who is already driving 8 hours to get an affordable priced flight for my family of 4

  2. We leave soon on AOS, I am SOOOOOO excited.

Got a call from RCCL asking if I wanted a medical grade fridge for my room and also to let my kids know the staff are excited to meet them and spoil them rotten for the upcoming b2b we are doing!!

I always read things on these sites about problems and issues.

I agree things won't be perfect, but I'll tell you something

when my kids listened to the message I was left about RCCL's plan they have been smiling ear to ear!

SOOOO happy to read that you had a good trip and THANKS for posting the positive note!!!

  3. Just as a point of reference and with NO fault of the AO staff etc, my 12 year old son wanted nothing to do with Adventure Ocean... or the arcade for that matter.

We had our kids on (12 and 8) and all they wanted to do was be with us.

I had thought they would enjoy it, make friends etc... they just wanted to stay and do what my hubby and I did.

I was thrilled and enjoyed every second of the cruise but I did go in thinking about AO as an option.

We forced them to go for an hour on the first sea day, and that was the extent of their time there.

Just as another side to the AO conversation..

  4. As others have mentioned Bonine is what I take.

I alway take it BEFORE I feel sick just for the first full 24 hours.

I take one when we board (usually around 1130), before the ship is moving at all.

Then I take two at dinner ( normally around 8 ish) then maybe one more in the AM if needed at breakfast.

After that I don't find I need to take them.

Its like once I get my sea legs I'm good to go.

The trick is to take it BEFORE you have any real symptoms.

Maybe if she is feeling dizzy or kinda "off" then take something

If you wait till she is nauseous it will be much harder to treat.

At least that's what I find.

    Safe Travels.

  5. I know there are people who have already mentioned the insulin being okay out of a fridge for up to 28 days ( I take Lanus and that's how long mine can be out) But I wanted to mention that you take either some juice boxes (small kids size ones work great) or something we call "fruit leather" You can bring those easier then juice but its great for a super fast sugar high.

If she is out in the sun or having to walk more then usual her sugars could drop quickly.

These fruit strips are very portable and will help her if she crashes.

    Have fun!!!

  6. We did a one week inside cabin with my 12 and 8 year old kids two summers ago, it was totally fine.

This winter we are doing a b2b and I suggested we do a balcony, the kids didn't WANT to. Said that the room we had last time was part of the fun.

I like inside, Im not stuffy like that.

We have had all three "cheap" rooms, inside, outside and balcony.. never done a suite or anything.

The kids enjoyed being all together. We weren't in there except to get dressed and sleep.

We were on Freedom, if that matter at all

We loved an inside, and for those who say they would rather not cruise if they had to do an inside thats your opinion.... but for this family of 4 being together and sailing the world is more important then having a balcony or being apart at nights.

  7. I did love the beached in Aruba... they are lovely but we went to Mambo Beach in Curacao and it was wonderful! They had a place to eat, chairs for rent, a few shops and a little market. It was close to the ship and we plan to go back there this time around.

I loved Aruba, it had the nicest beach I've seen in a long time, soft sand, not to crowded, and warm wonderful ocean water.

But Mambo beach was a lot of fun too, and we found it to be relaxing and we are looking forward to stopping again when we go in Feb.

  8. I went on Trip Advisor and got a Comfort Inn. Its a 3 star but it got lots of great reviews and I got it for $125.

We are also getting in at 11 pm.

I have two kids and my hubby and myself all needing somewhere to crash.

I am diabetic and need to know the plan so as to keep my sugars at a healthy level!

Hoping I haven't made a huge mistake, but they were quick to respond to some questions I had, plus I heard from 5 others who have stayed there in the last couple months and all of them loved it.

I figure as long as its clean and safe the rest of it will work out.

  9. Well if that list of ships with it is accurate, doesn't Jewel and Adventure sail out of the same SJ port?

So Jewel has them but AOS doesn't?

    UGG

    Thankfully, my youngest likes sprite.

She isn't allowed it much at home, so being that we are going on a vacation I had hoped to surprise her with the soda package.

The Freestyle machine would have blown her mind! She had it on Freedom but wasn't a huge pop fan then, so she just had grape soda! I had planned on letting her try it all this time around!

    Ah well.

  10. I always figure that if I don't have to shop for the food, put it away, then cook it later and clean up after it's all said and done..... the food is gonna be just fine by me.

    HAHA, You will love it.

I am a foodie, I love food, cooking, shopping etc. I enjoy it all and there are so meals that I didn't love, but most of the time, I am very content eating in the MDR. The windjammer is what you make of it.

I enjoy having a HUGE salad for lunch, and they always have a wonderful selection of stuff for that. Also the sandwich section is always stacked pretty well. So really, if your going in there looking for gourmet foods for lunch, you may feel a little disappointed. But if you want the usual lunch stuff you will be happy. Salads, Sandwiches, Burgers and Hot Dogs, alllllll there and alllllll delish!

  11. Although it wasn't asked, the VERY best feeling when we do a B2B cruise is that feeling on the last night, walking back to your room when EVERYONE else's luggage is in the halls and you can just head into your room, and sleep till the morning without stress of having to rush out first thing!

    Enjoy your trip!!!

  12. We saw SEVERAL different people on "white nights" wearing the ROBES we had in our rooms this past January! I would say people are far more casual then dressy. At least on our 12 day Sea of Cortez cruise. Often wearing a sundress or capri's and a blouse I felt perfectly comfortable.

    Enjoy your trip!

  13. I didn't need nor want an expensive set, and the ones I found at Walmart for $19.99 was $49.99 at the dive shop.

I wouldn't bother trying to get something there.

We were down for one night, and never had been in the area before but had a rental and found things to be VERY easy to navigate down in Port Canaveral as well as Merritt Island. Locals were awesome with directions and help... I say as the above posters and go local! You won't regret it

  14. I think as a parent and a person who has cruised with and without my kids. If you want to go on an adult's only type cruise RCCL shouldn't be your cruise line of choice. We went to Mexico and did it on Azamara, I was considered a child on this line, and I am 37.

I was always treated worse by older people/adults then I have seen children behave on all my cruises.

Children know to wait their turn, be polite (generally) and not push ahead and be demanding...

Adults however need reminding ALL THE TIME about such things.

If you want to take a trip during Christmas, I suggest you pick a different line.

Princess, Celebrity, and Azamara all had hardly any children on them. Azamara had NONE, and the other two lines didn't have more then 10 in all our cruises.

Carnival and RCCL are family type lines and that is fair. You can't complain about children when your on a line that promotes itself as a family type destination..

  15. I'm diabetic, and sometimes carry meal replacement shakes if I need to for that. When we were on Freedom last year, they were more then happy to keep them in another colder fridge even for me. No note was required but I do have a ton of other things to "prove" my diabetes so who knows.

    They were wonderful....

(fyi, azamara actually supplied me with them when we travelled with them this past January) They also got actual "caesar" mix because we were part of a 30 person group from Canada and they wanted us to have the drinks we liked. I don't drink alcohol but they couldn't have been more accommodating.

  16. We were on FOS last summer. It was wonderful.

I did notice a few things that I was missing from other ships/cruise lines, but all in all and with the kids etc it was wonderful.

I missed having an indoor solarium. I also missed the quiet calmness of of Celebrity, but having two kids on there we didn't expect to much calmness.. haha

Freedom was fun, lively, and we always knew there were things to do.

In fact, we were on a one week trip and we weren't able to do everything we wanted.

How new are you to cruising?

    How many in your group?

What are the ages?? I can try to give you some pointers and help if you wanted.??

  17. As someone who doesn't drink alcohol I REALLY enjoyed the freestyle machines on Freedom last summer.... I hope they rethink adding them on Adventure for our winter 2015 cruise, but it was WONDERFUL to use them. Looooove it!

The best part (as a diabetic and a Diet Coke FAN) was adding different flavours to the actual cup of DC. You can get about 8 different kinds, with vanilla or cherry and no sugar added.

You will love your time on Oasis, we did a b2b on it and loved it.

Oh and for the entitled person who wanted to bring the thread down by denouncing the ship... I hope you can see the karma in life when someone tries to rain on your parade.. shame on you!

  18. I can answer how those things get pulled up after so long.

I was looking for different Adventure of the Sea's reviews, I googled it to see if there was somewhere else to read things from (yes, something other then CC) and up comes a dozen CC threads with the words I googled.

I read them, thought how nice everyone said the ship was, thought it was weird that none of the upgrades were mentioned only to see some were from 7 years ago

But because I goggled, up they came... not for newest topics, but because they had the words I was looking up.
