  1. We just used Romecabs for their VIP transfer from FCO to our hotel and the Rome countryside tour to get from our hotel in Rome to the port.

In both cases, drivers were early, professional, and highly informative.

The VIP transfer was a great intro to the sights of Rome and our driver took us to a few places we would not have thought to visit. The countryside tour took us to the town of Ceri, a medieval town not to be missed (see Dame at Sea's review), among a few other places.

Arrived at port between 1 and 2 PM

Will definitely use Romecabs again and HIGHLY recommend them

  2. Going on tour next week

Believe tour is only for underground and third level

If you want a tour of the Colosseum itself, you must purchase one separately

By the way, you must also purchase a general admission for this tour which allows you into the "regular" Colosseum, forum, and Palatine hill

  3. Just a quick question

Having purchased tickets for the Colosseum Underground tour, we have vouchers which must be shown to the ticket office to pick up our tickets...no other option given

Is there a "special" line to redeem these vouchers for tickets or must we wait in the general ticket line?

    Thanks

    Joe

  4. Thank you all for your replies

I have two debit cards (Visa) which I will be taking besides the "brokerage" card which is also a debit card

Since most of you think I will run into a problem, I will purchase the Euros prior to leaving the states and use ATMS as required

  5. The 1000 Euros are for several private tours set up that do not accept credit cards.

Our brokerage debit card allows us to get up to $2500 per day "From a Teller"

I know all about ATM limits.

This is the experience I was asking about

  6. Just wondering if anyone has experience getting Euros inside a bank, not at an atm

Need about 1000 Euros...I know I can make several trips to an atm but would like to get entire amount inside and make only one withdrawal. Also, was not speaking Italian an issue?

  7. Just purchased third ring tickets

Only option I saw for the tickets was pickup at ticket window

Is there a special line for "will call" tickets or must one wait in the general ticket line

If so, can these ticket be picked up at the other ticket windows (Palatine Hill) or must you go to the Colosseum?

  8. Arriving in Rome on a Monday after an overnight flight from the states.

Want to do the underground tour of the Colosseum

Since we are departing Rome on Thursday, the only "evening" tours are on Monday night.

Wondering if anyone has done this on their arrival day to Rome..Will we be too jet lagged to enjoy the tour?

I know I can get daytime tours of the underground, which would be the fall back option

The nighttime tour sound intriguing ...

    Thanks for your suggestions

  9. Our flight arrives very early on a Saturday next April. Too early to head for the ship to embark. Want to have a leisurely breakfast at the airport and then when ready, head to the ship. (Princess at San Pedro)

Is there a shuttle company on LAX where we can accomplish this? Want to use a shared shuttle.

  10. We have eaten there a few times. There are several merchants selling great roti's

depending on which merchant you choose, (we have chosen a few different ones) you either sit and order from a "menu" or stand in line and order. Never had a bad lunch. Cost is way under $20 for two but we always leave a tip to make it $20 if sitting. Just look a the various menus and follow the crowd.

To get there, cross the pontoon bridge, and immediately make a left. Follow the street to the end and then it makes a right turn at the canal. Go straight ahead, After a round building you will see it. Its a few blocks after a bridge crosses the canal. Its worth the walk if you want to eat local.

  11. Have one port day...Port is Salerno..

Would like to see both Pompeii and the Amalfi coast.

Is this too much to view in one day...would we be rushed at each location...should we just pick one or the other?

Asking those who have been there done that..

thanks in advance for your replies
