  1. We did a similar Azamara itinerary several years ago (less Greece more Russia and Ukraine) but the current itinerary definitely has the stops we enjoyed the most. Each place was different than anywhere we had been. We did private tours in many of the places and learned so much about a part of the world we had so little knowledge of. I would definitely recommend it!

  2. I have done 32 Windstar Cruises and I have to say I have never heard of a cabin party (hard to fit many people in a 180 Square feet) let alone one going to the wee hours! I think you will be safe. Enjoy your cruise!

  3. Dear R&rd, Which cruise, when, what type of cabin? Thanks in advance. Happy Sailing.

It was an 11 day Costa Rica Cruise for the holidays (which are usually higher than off peak times) in a basic cabin. We have always appreciated that Windstar is very good at adjusting prices.

  4. It depends on where the cruise is going. All you get with the balcony is a one foot step out. So if you are doing a lot of cruising with things you might want to see the balcony is nice. If you are off the ship or spending a lot of time in port I don’t find that it matters. The cabins are identical and you can always go up on deck to watch the views. It is sometimes nice to be able to open the door and get a breeze - up it’s really up to you whether that is worth the price. We have had both and it sometimes is just a matter of itinerary and price.

  5. We did the Antarctic cruise a few years ago and it did indeed snow. The crew had a great time - for many it was their first time seeing snow. We brought down jackets, gloves and hats and were fine. The silk underwear works great. Actually we were coldest in the Falkland Islands standing in the wind watching the King penguins. But it was great!

  6. Totally agree. We’ve done 7 day once and the 11 day twice. Would never consider going back and doing a 7 day. Prices in Tahiti are extremely high - value is much better on the ship. It is probably the most relaxing and beautiful sailing we have been on - and we have done over 30 Windstar sailings.

  7. We've been on all three decks. The difference in balcony size is unimportant as the deck space is more than ample. Deck 8 is nice as I don't feel so bad when I need something from the butler and he has to come down (that's my issue - the butler is fine with it). I don't find much noise from above but sometimes people can be looking down from the bar above. Deck 6 is a little larger and quieter but further away from things. Deck 7 is my preferred location but not really a noticeable difference from the others. Layout and furnishings are identical. You'll love whichever you choose - and the Best of the Best dinner for the top suites is phenomenal!

  8. I have been on 30 Windstar cruises and 10 Azamara. I love them both. Both have similar demographics- well traveled people who care more about the destination or itinerary than ship activities although Azamara passengers may tend to be a bit older. Service and food on both lines are comparable. Both have the same dress code and relaxed atmosphere with their own events: Windstar's deck barbecue vs. Azamara's White night. Azamazing evenings vs. Windstar's Private Event. Being a larger ship Azamara has more shipboard activities and dining venues. There is more to do in cold or rainy weather on Azamara. I prefer Windstar's sailing ships in more tropical areas, I prefer Azamara in cooler climates. I like the suites on Windstar's yachts better than the club continent suites on Azamara although Azamara has balconies and Windstar does not. On Windstar most activities are outside, on Azamara most activities are inside. When it comes down to it I choose the line by the itinerary first and the ship second.

  9. We have always chosen 8056 through 8060. There has never been any noise whatsoever as they are beneath a little used area. But these all have walk-in showers - if you want a tub they won't work.

  10. We did the 11 day last year and loved it (it was actually our third Windstar Tahiti cruise so we have done most of the excursions). We don't dive or snorkel so I can't speak to those. Our absolute favorite was the excursion with Dr. Poole in Moorea. He is incredible and even if dolphin or whale tours don't appeal to you this guy is incredible. He is a scientist and views everything differently than most excursions.
