No - had to get your sail and sign at embarkation. But I will say that embarkation was seamless with the staggered check-in. No priority boarding of any kind and still never had to sit in a room and wait. Was wonderful. If you have a current passport photo they don't need to take your picture; they use that with your sail and sign. Debarkation, however, was pretty bad. That was pretty much a mess.
Debarkation was easy for us. About 15 minutes was cut of because they have stopped having you to fill out the declination form for customs.

Pasta bella is one deck up from the buffet area. It is a pasta place on deck 11. We always eat there the first day because most new cruisers do not know it is even there so it is very quiet. Later in the week it gets busy as people find out about it. Have a great cruise . We love the Dream..
We do the same thing. Pasta Bella is always the first lunch. Service is fast because it is never crowded.

Congratulations. I look at your wedding as a blessing for the selfless acts of kindness that you gave to others after the storm. The beautiful wedding was your reward. It was beautiful. Go forth and have a wonderful life together. :D

I heard unconfirmed reports of a stabbing. They were requesting blood donations on board. I did see live stream video of them taking the guy off the ship and into a waiting ambulance, at the dock. He was alive at the time.
Ok...that sounds so much better then a murder. Any act of violence is bad...but I am glad to hear that he was alive when he left the ship. What a way to end a vacation.
-
I've read that a man was stabbed and was in bad condition. Supposedly 2 women were taken off the ship in handcuffs.
I did hear about the 2 women be taken off the ship in handcuffs.
I hope the man survived.

Are you perhaps thinking of the very recent Princess Alaska cruise where there was a murder?
If this were something similarly nefarious, the ship would've been kept longer in Mobile.
No...I heard Fantasy.
-
I am hearing that somebody was murdered on the ship. Has anybody else heard this?
-
Actually if you are like Bill Gates that is pocket change :D
You got a point there.
-
Uh, I think the 100 people would have to have one million dollars each to buy it.
That is chump change...said nobody ever. :D;p:')

Well good luck over 200 Vip already booked on this trip...
How do you check for the number of VIPs?

Bitter and Blanc was available on my 4 day Fantasy cruise 3 weeks ago.
-
Bitters and Blanc. But they only serve on 8 days or longer. Then only sometimes. Missed it last October on our 8 day Conquest cruise.

Bitter and Blanc was available on the recent 4 day cruise on the Fantasy.

Bitter and blanc, but I've heard it is now only offered only on 7+ day cruises. Boo.
I just got of a 4 day cruise on the Fantasy and I had the Bitter and Blanc one night. It was delish. :D

Bring a jacket. We sailed out of NOLA this time last year and it was windy when we set sail. It wasn't cold...cold...but windy chilly. :D

I am glad that this thread has resurfaced. I haven't listened to the TJMS is years and I had no idea that the FV had been moved to Carnival.
Thanks for all the comments...the good, the bad and the ugly. I have always wanted to go on the FV, but like others...the price kept me away. I may rethink it being that I am a proud graduate of a HBCU.

I looked at the grits and didn't try them. I am a huge grit fanatic. If you ever make it to New York and go to Bryant Park, there is a stand there that all they do is grits all kinds of ways. I tried them when we were there in November and they are so yummy and have that southern comfort to them!
I am from North Carolina so I know all about good grits and good sweet ice tea! Thanks for reading my review!
NEW YORK...grits? Say it ain't so. lol! :p Northerners don't know anything about good grits!! I'm just kidding...kinda. lol
Like they said in Steel Magnolias...Sweet Tea is the house wine of the south. LOL!!
I do have one question about the Punchliner. Is Jeff The Fun Dude still the MC? He was prety funny.

...oh, and I want to see some food porn too. :p

This review is great. I was on the Dream in November and many of the things that you mentioned in Ship Talk are my sentiments too. The crew was very good and friendly. I didn't smell any sewage and thought the ship was pretty clean. Crowds were never an issue except after the muster drill and being held up at the elevator. We made sure to get to the shows early, so finding a seat was never an issue.
The pictures are fabulous.
My only complaint about the food is about the grits at breakfast. I am from Alabama and we don't play when it comes to grits. The grits were waaaaaay to watery. The Dream is not the only ship that is guilty of drowning grits. The grits were the same way on the Triumph.

Glad to hear that you are doing better. I totally agree with getting travel insurance too. Last December my dad was hospitalized and we (me and DH) decided to cancel our cruise a few days before we were scheduled to sail. My dad passed away a couple of days after I cancelled. Carnival was so helpful. We got refunds from them and the insurance company with no hassle at all.
