  1. How will they get fresh food for this raw bar? I love oysters and all those other raw items, but knowing that there's been problems with people getting sick on raw items, I wonder if X is prepared for such things happening? Lawsuits if someone gets sick on raw seafood?

I would imagine a huge company such as Celebrity has many qualified professionals, who are paid very well, who research all of these types of issues. No one wants people to get sick at their restaurant.

  2. Glad to hear some people are happy with cruiseline tours! I agree with you, to book a car with a guide would probably be the best for me, but travelling solo, I can't afford it.

Thanks, I feel better about ship tours!

There were three of us, so the price was better. Perhaps you could find someone on your roll call who would like to join you and share the cost.

We do a mix of cruise line tours and private tours, depending on what we are looking for. The Moscow tour was only offered by the cruise line, and it was worth it since I have no doubt I will never have the chance to see Moscow again. Cruise line tours can be a mix bag, for sure, but sometimes what they offer is hard to get from private tour companies. For instance, on our upcoming cruise when we stop in Villefranche we only wanted to go up to Eze for a few hours and walk around....we've been to Monaco, Nice and all the other areas before. Our choices were to train or bus it on our own or take an inexpensive cruise excursion that was Eze only, 3 hours. Exactly what we wanted.

  3. When we were in St. Petersburg we took the Moscow tour (through the cruise line, it was amazing) on the first day, so we were having a similar problem the second day when we wanted to see St. Petersburg and none of the tour companies wanted to commit to a one day tour, preferring to schedule people on two day tours. Finally we decided to hire a car and tour guide through the cruise line for the day. It was about $600, and it was well worth it. We had a car with a driver and a tour guide at our disposal who would take us wherever we wanted and we could stay as long as we wanted. It was perfect. You might want to look into that.

  4. Quick will all depend on how many of the other 2500+ passengers have the same idea! ;)

But, you should find the Oceanview buffet area on the Reflection much quicker to get something at than the Oasis buffet, due to the lower # of passengers, and better design.

The layout of the S-Class ship itself, we found much easier to get around than the Mariner in 2007, and Freedom in 2011.

It will be interesting to see if I agree. We love the Explorer, Freedom and Oasis class ships and I think they are very easy to get around....I especially love the promenade deck. We will be on the Reflection in a few weeks and this will be our first time on a Solstice class ship. I'm getting excited! [emoji41]

  5. I don't believe this is true. Check your source.

X would not eliminate this. Your emoji not withstanding, please don't start rumors.

Not a rumor, it's true. On the current cruise the Reflection they started Sushi on 5 and there is no longer sushi in the buffet in the afternoon.

  6. Hi Everyone,

As someone who enjoys Sushi, I think the photos look wonderful, with a lovely presentation. If it tastes as good as it looks, I think this will be far better than some of the comments on this thread. Of course, if you do not enjoy Sushi, then I suspect the photos won't help either :)

Wish we were sailing on Reflection in the near future. I'd love to try Sushi on Five for myself.

Thanks for the photos...everything looks delicious! Only 6 weeks to giving it a try!

  7. I'm not sure why you decided to open a second, identical thread on this topic. Perhaps the moderators could combine the two.

And I am not sure why you would decide to commit on something that harms no one, least of all you. Why bring it up, unless you like making a very nice woman feel badly. Let the moderators do their job.

  8. Big thank you to Andy for keeping us current!

Wow..we don't really do sushi ...dh has fish allergies..I only like a few appetizers and hoped the menu would have more non sushi offerings.... .For a few dumplings, salad and kobe beef balls or whatever, the a la carte price is steep....Silk Harvest has a much better selection in the non sushi category and only one upcharge,

Reflection has been a young hip vibe party ship (big bar out back, Miami DJ, etc) so maybe it will work on that ship.....we have no plans to sail on her again, so our only interest is in learning if it will be expanded to other ships......hope not..happily booked on EQ, Infinity x2, & Silho thru 2018

Wonder if they'll do something else at the Porch...crepes, paninis, soups, salads... sound good!

The Reflection is heading to Europe in April.

  9. Hope any deli is not modeled on the one on Royal C's Oasis in Central Park....

everyone talked it up so much...esp for the first day roast beef sandwich,....

We went there on day 1....totally awful...it smelled, the staff was wiping the tables with filthy rags, there was no flow from counter to drinks, etc...rude patrons grabbing chairs,,,..

So hope whatever Celebrity does will be modern luxury not food court "schlock!"

Wow, our opinion is the exact opposite, we love the Park Cafe on the Oasis class ships. It's our favorite spot to run down to for a light snack/lunch, the food is very good there. Royal Caribbean must be doing something right with the Park Cafe because it's always busy!!

Maybe the layout isn't perfect, but I wouldn't knock a restaurant because the counter to drinks flow wasn't great.

  10. My recent experience has been that you get two replies: An immediate reply indicating that your request has been received, followed (a day or two later) by a reply granting (or refusing) the request.

I faxed it Friday night but didn't receive anything today. Maybe tomorrow. :)

  11. We bought RCI shares when they were around $19 and we were able to get Shareholder Benefits several times before the rules changed. It's a bummer we no longer get free money, but I understand their responsibility to their shareholders to not give away profits just for using the product they produce.

We have a TA coming up in April and we booked through a travel agent and I am pretty sure we didn't get any Celebrity perks, so I submitted our request for OBC on Friday. Maybe we will get it....$250 would pay for a few drinks and the Hot Stone Massage I plan on having!! :D

It's been so long since we even bothered to submit for the benefits, I have forgotten if they notify you if you do or don't get it, or do you simply see it on your account once onboard the ship??

  12. Why in the hell, can't they get this straightened out. Is it they won't spend the money to re-do their IT department? 10 years ago it was frustrating, 5 years ago it was sometimes funny, now it's approaching deal breaker time....

You would stop cruising on Celebrity because of too many emails?

  13. We took the ship's tour to Moscow and we were given Visas to carry with us when we checked in at the airport....they took the Visa back at the end of the tour when we reentered the port...I asked to keep it but they said no. The next day we stayed in St. Petersburg for the day with a local driver and guide and they didn't give us a Visa.

Here's a photo of my Visa. I'm glad I took the photo, I thought it was interesting how they spelled our names. [emoji1]
