When in Juneau
you can see them out in mud flats at low tide in town
-
OLD days, used to go out to the dump, bears galore
-
Been 22 times Alaska, not carnival or Norwegian
best trip is RT Vancouver port, time in port important, arrive and depart. You should do 28 glacier out of Whittier, Juneau has 8 hour excursion if in port by 8am and don’t leave till after 5pm. Balcony is great but you will be missing what is going on other side all day long, cure is to plant on area of viewing inside ship that lets you see both sides, then go out for photos etc, warmth is also great. Skagway is nice if there early and leave late, train-so so, good experience but more of outdoor is private excursion up the canyon and beyond ,maybe even to Carcross and beyond, too much to tell you, have to have a couple hours over lunch to give you the plus and minus of trip. Leaving Seattle is too long out to sea, no inside much there

Been Whittier 3 times, taken that 26 glacier tour each time, WELL WORTH the money, see more stuff-DO IT

Don't they SELL case of water on ship for your cabin anymore?
-
As far as Alaska cruise, been on 22 of them, diff. ships, ports, times of year, you NEVER know what the weather is like till you are THERE we have found
-
SPRING-weather is usually unstable, whereas FALL is mostly stable going into it, maybe that is why
People living near beach in Oregon know this

Look, those people working at loading are union workers, many getting PAID over 100K just to do their job of LOADING luggage on to the carts, used to be signs around loading area telling you this

that happened to me as the agent did not charge final, I caught it days later and she got it fixed but in meantime I lost the cruise

We have done both so would recommend BOTH

Having taken 22 cruises there from Oregon over the years, expect anything but will be cooler than July but then again had Sept. weather for a week in July. ENJOY whatever you get

RENT a car, GO to Mt Rainier, Olympic Penn. , dont waste time in Seattle, might be sorry. See the wonders of nature out here in NORTH West

Thinking about RT from Whittier cruise, not getting off either in Victoria, vancouver etc, DO I NEED Canadian covid tests?
-
Wondering on this same topic only with Alaska cruises
-
follow money trail, it will tell you what to expect

DON'T FORGET THE BEARS when out bicycle, walking etc. At least take bear spray, you never know. They are silent & deadly. Even the BLACK bears are or seem to be LARGER than lower 48, they can be aggressive. Don't forget , EVERYTHING there wants to eat you, HaHa

I do realize that I am not ukestrummer, but I wanted to respond anyway. Vancouver is a wonderful city for those of us who enjoy walking. So many things to do and see! Here is a site with some ideas:

Also, Stanley park is worth a day.

I also love renting a car and taking the ferry over to Vancouver Island, where you can go to Butchart Gardens and Victoria, etc.
Really, I could go on and on. Vancouver is a wonderful city with endless opportunities for those who love to explore.
DITTO to this
