If you decide to go with Enterprise and don't mind a no-frills hotel, The Puffin Inn has decent reviews on TripAdvisor and a room for $128. It is within walking distance of the Enterprise office on Spenard (.3 mile).

Thanks It is our first time in Alaska and a little confusing Just know we have to be back for our cruise that leaves on June 2nd Also has anyone ever done the 26 glacier boat trip out of Whittier? We can either take the shuttle that stops at Wildlife place or try to get to Whittier to take the 26 gl;acier boat trip before our cruise.

We were going to rent a car when we arrive in Anchorage at the airport but thinking about renting offsite. Enterprise sounds good. On June 2nd we need to get to the ship in Whittier so probably taking the Alaska Cruise shuttle with a stop at the wildlife place in the early afternoon. They will pick up at hotels and at the aurport

I decided to get more opinions by putting it on another site. Can anyone recommend reasonable hotels in Anchorage and what is the best way to get to Whittier from Anchorage airport after we return the rental car?

We are taking a Princess cruise from Whittier on June 2nd. We are flying into Anchorage on May 29th and renting a car. We will stay overnight one night and want to drive to Denali National Park. Deciding if we should head back on June 1st or 2nd? Not sure if it is rushing it to head back on the same day that our ship leaves. Will it be worth driving there and staying May 30th and 31st for the 2 nights? I also found out we can't go too far into the park since it is early in the season. So right now planning on staying May 29th in Anchorage, May 30 and 31 in Denali and June 1st back in Anchorage before getting on our June 2nd cruise. Also anyone have a reasonable hotel in Anchorage? We are staying first night at Longhouse Alaskan Hotel Not sure where to stay on June 1st. We will have a rental car to use.

Anyone ever stay at the Moda Hotel in downtown Vancouver? We booked our final night after our cruise there. Also looking at the Barclay but not sure about that. We will not have a car but only staying there for one night after our cruise. Want to be able to walk to a few places.

Driving to Denali on May 30 for 2 nights and returning to Anchorage on June 1st Going on a cruise leaving June 2nd. We decided not to try to drive Denali to Whittier and get the ship

On the same day in case it takes longer. Don’t want to push

It. Is it worth seeing Denali since we can’t get too far into the park at that time? The longer tours start on June 1st but we can take a shorter bus tour.

We are leaving on June 2 on the Star Princess from Anchorage to Vancouver. We are flying into Anchorage on May 29th and renting a car. Planning on staying the first night in Anchorage and wanting to drive to Denali National Park for either 2 or 3 nights. The question I have is should we leave to come back to Anchorage on June 1st or 2nd? Our ship leaves on June 2nd at 8:30pm and dont want to miss the ship. There are many conflicting reports and some say we can do that drive and catch the ship on June 2nd. Some say we should drive back to Anchorage on June 1st. And some people say we should skip Denali and do other things around Anchorage. Would like some other ideas please.

Also has anyone ever stayed in Healy which is close to Denali? I found White Moose Lodge in Healy resonably priced and right off the highway. How long does it take to drive back to Anchorage from Denali to return the rental car? Thinking about leaving at 8am on June 2nd and driving back to airport to return the car and taking the 3pm shuttle to the port. Will we miss the 3pm shuttle to the port?

Has anyone ever done a pre cruise land tour by renting a car and driving to Denali then drive back to Anchorage to get to the ship? We are going on Star Princess on June 2 - 9. We want to go on an Alaskan cruise with a land tour either before or after. This will probably be our only time visiting Alaska and want to see as much as we can. What cruise do you recommend to see the most of Alaska? Should we do a land tour before or after the cruise and for how many days? Thinking about a 7 night cruise with either a 3 or 4 night land tour. Which itinerary would you recommend and also when is the best time to go? We are a couple in our 60's and have been on Carribbean cruises before. We will probably take an interior cabin because the outside cabins seem very costly. Any excursions you can recommend? Thanks. Probably going sometime this summer? What is May or September like??
