  1. Now I'm really ticked.  I just saw the thread on the Allure Azipod issue and it appears RC was aware of this issue before I made my reservation on the 28th for Oct 6 sailing for the advertised itinerary.  Then less than 48 hours later send me a notice that the itinerary has changed due to a known issue with the ship they already knew about.

  2. Yes, we got the email too.   Ours is the October 6th cruise and the same switch.   And, they shortened the time spent at dock at PR and Nassau.  I'm going to explore changing to a different cruise, but I bet every Allure cruise is changing.  Surely you would think they could fix a propulsion issue by October.

  3. We had a 7PM reservation for every night on our last cruise ,arrived at 6:20 every night and were seated immediately,

I was wondering if you could just show up earlier than your MTD reservation time. On one night of our upcoming cruise, the only choice left for MTD was 7:45. We want to eat earlier than that because of a show reservation. Can we just show up at say, 6:30? Or, do we have to try to change that reservation time once on the ship?

  4. Harmony does have an outlet next to the bed that is close enought for no need for power cord. I can't recall Oasis and Allure as my wife wasn't using a CPAP at that time.

Having said that. Send an email to special_needs@rccl.com about use of CPAP. They will provide free distilled water and an extension cord if needed. For example on Harmony there was only distilled water in the cabin upon arrival. But on our upcoming Enchanment cruise they replied back that there will be distilled water and an extension cord in the cabin.

I provide my reservation number and name of ship.

Great! Thank you for the suggestion. I will do that.

...I have a Scooter and a CPAP. The scooter can charge in either 110 or 240, but I still need the $0.89 adapter. (I have a bag of them). I always travel with an extension cord in the CPAP bag. No one has ever taken it. ...

    .

I use a CPAP device and was wondering if there is an outlet near the bed that the regular power cord could reach to on Allure class ships? Or, do I need to bring a discreet extension cord?;)

  6. We had problems doing our Set Sail Pass and after 2 calls to Royal were told to change from Chrome to Explorer and then we had no problem. We will be doing the 49 day check in stuff in 4 days so it will be interesting to see what server we will have to use.

Funny, my experience this past weekend trying to print our Set Sail Passes was completely opposite. I couldn't print them from Explorer, but was able to from Chrome. Go figure!

  7. Preston, we are staying at the radisson but I am now a bit concerned as I have heard that the shuttle they provide can be a bit of a cluster.... can you say that it is better to get a cab versus doing the package that includes a shuttle?

We decided to stay at the Radisson and use their park and shuttle service based on the recomendations I read on CC. Well, it was a big cluster on the return from the FOS this Sunday. We got to the Radisson shuttle pickup area with our luggage at 8:30 AM and checked in with the Radisson rep. A small shuttle had just pulled away. We were advised another was on the way. After 30 minutes went by still no shuttle and the waiting crowd was starting to grow. The rep was constantly on the phone I assume to check where the shuttles were. By this time it was getting hot in the sun and people were starting to get impatient. Some older folks had the rep get them a cab.

We had someone waiting for us at the Radisson and they advised us by cell phone that the shuttles were coming and going so we couldn't figure out what was going on. At around the 45 minute mark we were finally told that the shuttles were going to the other ships and getting full and were not able to stop at the FOS dock. My group was getting a little cranky about this time because we wanted to get a decent start on the drive home.

Almost an hour into the wait another shuttle company van pulls into the slot. I would guess by this time the waiting crowd had grown to about 100 folks. Shortly after that one Radisson van pulls up sort of outside the slot area. We were advised to drag our bags over too it. Just as we get there the traffic director person comes over and tells the driver he can't park/load there. Everyone has to lug their bags back over to the sidewalk...meanwhile the others behind have moved up so you can just imagine the cluster. The other van had to back out and the Radisson shuttle finally pulls in at the 1 hour mark. By this time our post cruise happiness has gone away. We finally reached the Radisson cruise parking area at about 9:45.

I'm not sure if it is always like this but this experience made us come to the conclusion that if you want to get an early start on your drive home, spend the extra $100 and park at the pier.

The shuttle service going to the pier was okay, but the return not so good. I just wanted to post our frustrating experience to help others decide their parking and shuttle plans. While we were waiting we saw some of the other motel shuttles load and go several times.

  8. After reading the bad reviews for the Radison, I thought I'd give my two cents on where we stayed for our pre-cruise day. We drove and arrived mid-day at the Doubletree in Cocoa Beach (about 6 minutes drive from the port with no traffic). We didn't leave our car there, but there seems to be a lot of parking available to do so. I also saw the shuttle picking up people for the different cruise lines. I didn't inquire about leaving the car as we already decided to park at the pier. The pool was great, very clean and you could walk down to the beach too. There were lots of places to eat nearby and was close top Ron Jons. Though not new, rooms were clean and there is a nice bar on site just inside from the pool. No free morning coffee though, I had to pay a dollar for a cup at the bar.:(
