Still trying to get my refund! I paid in full for a cruise more than a year in advance. They totally changed the itinerary, and we requested a full refund. I have been promised a refund for a couple months and still no refund. I contacted the Better Business Bureau and AQV promised them they would be processing our refund right away. Basically, AQV lied to the BBB. I cannot believe how difficult it is to get a refund. They have been holding onto my money since Nov 11, 2021 !  That is over two years. I honestly keep thinking I will see AQV has gone bankrupt! They are clearly having a cash flow problems. I did a little research and found AQV is owned by Hornblower Group, which is actually owned by Crestview. Crestview is based in NYC. Crestview is a firm that basically buys and sells companies for their investors. I would think AQV is cash strapped and cannot process refunds as they do not have the money. I have contacted AQV John Waggoner (CEO) and requested a face to face meeting. I want to know where my refund is and why anyone would ever want to book a cruise with AQV? Anyone out there have any suggestions on how I can ever get my refund? I would appreciate any feedback and assistance on this issue. Thank you.

I finally got a check   I deposit the check on Friday and the money is still in my account.  But I had to fight all the way to the top with them.    Never again

All is not lost Chrome Diva.  I did some research on the positive pay process? According to the interwebs it is supposed to prevent fraud but if AQV did not send a file to the bank, the check can be rejected:
The positive pay system helps financial institutions to avoid fraudulent activities. The banks do not clear any suspicious-looking checks, and the presenter is restrained from getting paid. This is a security measure that safeguards the customers from loss and deceit.  The positive pay system helps financial institutions to avoid fraudulent activities. Problems

The problems with this method are as follows:

    • If the issuing company forgets to send a file to the bank, the bank may reject all the checks under that file.
    • A check may be presented to the bank before a file is submitted. In that case, the check might be rejected by the bank.
    • Preparing a list to provide to the bank is a time-consuming process.
    • The banks provide the company a stipulated period during which inquiries must be conducted, failing which the checks will get rejected.

That might be exactly what happened.
going back to bank.  It’s Friday so I’ll post when I see green money.

  5. I agree customer service is awful.

We booked our cruise and paid in full $8,000 to take advantage of the sale in 2022 yes Paid in Full

    then
AQV canceled our New Years Holiday  ocean cruise out of Jacksonville Florida due to the ship being sold   Trip canceled June 28, 2023     We we’re told refund would be 60 to 90 days  After the 60 days I emailed Tara and was told it was 60 working days. 60 working days came I emailed again.  Was then told by Tara that it is 90 days.   At day 77 I emailed Tara again she replied

“I show the refund to be pending and have requested an update for you.

    no contact has been received.

November 2 2023 is  90 working days and I’m totally discussed with AQV

I assume I will be emailing AGAIN

So glad you got your refund! Ridiculous that you had to wait so long, but better late than never.

  6. Grandeur of the Seas - September 13, 2018 Sailing

    September 11, 2018

    Dear Travel Partner,

As your client finishes up any last minute errands for their upcoming cruise, we have some information to share with you. As you know, we are closely monitoring Hurricane Florence’s trajectory, speed and size. While it is still our intent to return to Baltimore by Sunday, the storm has slowed down and may impact our arrival date and time into the Port of Baltimore. We expect to have more concrete information by 7 PM tomorrow, September 12th. Our goal is to keep you and your clients as informed as possible during this process. To compensate for this unexpected change, we are providing the following compensation:

Guests that sail with us will receive:

A refundable Onboard Credit to their SeaPass account for the cruise days missed as a result of this change. This amount will be based on the cruise fare portion, non-inclusive of taxes and fees. If their onboard spend does not reach this amount, the remaining balance will post to their credit card on file. Any taxes and fees associated to missed ports will also be added as an Onboard Credit.

A future cruise credit for the cruise fare value of the days missed, in hopes your client will join us on another cruise in the near future.

Any pre-purchased shore excursions for a changed ports of call will be credited to their onboard SeaPass account. Additionally, shore excursions booked for any of the ports that have been rearranged, will be automatically rescheduled for your client. Once onboard, guests can visit the Shore Excursions Desk on Deck 5 should they have any questions.

While we hope your client chooses to stay, if they decide not to sail, we’ll provide them with:

100% future cruise credit, based on the cruise fare portion of their cruise. Any pre-purchased items, like shore excursions or beverage packages, will be automatically refunded.

Commission will be protected for any guests that choose to cancel their booking.

If you have any questions or require assistance, contact us at 1-800-256-6649.

Thank you for your patience and support as we work to provide your client with a wonderful cruise vacation. We are truly sorry for the storm’s impact on your clients’ vacation. Our guests’ and crew’s safety is our number one priority and while not the itinerary we originally anticipated, we know their time with us will be nothing short of amazing.

    Sincerely,

  7. Count up how many inside and ocean view cabin are on your ship. Then take that number times 2. Those viewing spots fill up very fast.

We get a balcony so we don’t have to fight for a deck chair and if it’s cold you can wrap up in a blanket drink hot coffee and enjoy the Glaciers.

We’ve been 6 times to Alaska and we always get some type of Balcony.

  8. There is no problem bring cigarettes or cigars back on to the ship. There is a limit to how many you can bring back to the United States.

As for Rum look for a special bottle called 7 fathoms Grand Cayman.

Research the 7 Fathoms Rum it’s a special story.

  9. Save yourself the anguish and the expense. Buy a spa day for yourself before you leave home. Getting a spa day means getting a pedi and a mani hair trim and colored and a good massage. So then you will Be well rested before you step foot on the ship.
