I'm curious as to why you didn't just do the whole transaction through your TA.

The person I work with at Oceania has been an exceptional help in unusual circumstances and has direct contacts within the company. In this specific case she was able to access my funds from the cancelled cruise immediately and book the cabin I wanted for our November cruise. This method has served me well, costs nothing more than an additional email, and doesn’t affect the commIssion of either person. My Oceania contact also checks her email and responds during non-working hours.

  2. We did this a few weeks ago. We used a TA to book an Alaska cruise for us which was cancelled, the cruise would be happening now. Once it was cancelled I called my contact directly at Oceania and booked a cruise for this November using the funds from the cancelled cruise. It was instantaneous and very easy. I then moved the booking to my TA for the additional perks.

  3. Oceania Cruises Announces Extended Global Voluntary Suspension of Cruising

At Oceania Cruises, the health, safety and well-being of our guests, crew and the communities we visit has always been and remains our highest priority. Given continued global efforts to combat the spread of the global COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, we are extending our suspension of voyages to include all voyages through July 31, 2020 in an abundance of caution.

Masks are the least of your worries.

Very likely this cruise will cancel.  Not likely to be any cruises this year, especially international.

    good luck!

Is this conjecture or do you have a reliable source?

So you went from a G to an F and saved money? That doesn't make sense. Cat G is the lowest priced cabin on the ship. For my sailing cat F is $150 more then cat G. Perhaps your sailing date had a special deal attached to it.

We had a G booked before the recent major price reduction. At that time Category G was waitlisted but F wasn’t. After the recent price reductions we couldn’t take advantage of the lower fare because there were no G cabins available but F were. At the new lower prices the F cabins were now less expensive than what the G had been. We took the upgrade which lowered our cost overall.

The price on my Marina Aug. 29, 2021 cruise is the same, category G inside. In fact, that cat is waitlisted.

I was in a similar position but in my case I was able to receive  a lower fare overall by changing to a category F.

  8. Distilled water is available free of charge and no need for an extension cord. There are outlets next to the beds. You might want to get the US to European (two pin) plug adapter. The ship did provide those to use but I bought one since we travel frequently.

For a prior O cruiser who is looking at booking again, today’s news really put cold water on booking until the dust settles. Among the concerns any knowledgeable traveler or travel agent would have consider include:

    1. If my cruise goes forward, what can I expect on the ship? Will the cash issues of O negatively impact the passengers’ experience with respect to service, food, excursions, etc?

If it happens I’ll give a full report of our August 15 Insignia cruise.

    Plus 1.

I remain convinced that Oceania will outsurvive NCL if for no other reasons than the manageable size and a passenger base that overall will be able to pay any increased cruise costs. And, I do expect that Oceania and Regent eventually will be merged. A lot of their administrative functions are already consolidated.

Perhaps Apollo, the private equity firm, will snap up Prestige Cruise Holdings, the parent company of Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises, in the event of liquidation or reorganization. The business model for both lines was successful so there could be real value in doing so.

ClassicCruiser777: Is that plate from the buffet or the main dining room?

Unlimited lobster tails, prawns, steaks every night in the buffet. Most nights excellent sushi as well as many other dishes offered. Salads made to order. Homemade ice cream. The food choices and quality are excellent to very good.

And Waves Grill is better than most of the food on Holland.
