  1. Relaxing day at Coco Cay. After eating I found a shaded lounger and read/slept for most of the afternoon. The island weather was a lot different than last week. Woke up at one point and realized that my foot was directly in the sun…it’s not bugging me yet, so hope it’s ok and that I won’t have to deal with a sunburn there! Various photos from today:
  2. Woke up this morning slightly hung over…tried to be good yesterday so blame the switch from sparking to red wine. Got my act together after a while and hit the track. Placated myself by deciding to only run ten laps. Should have been a pretty good run: ship wasn’t moving, very few people out, and comfortable low 70’s temperature. But I guess I like adversity because even with these conditions, just got in the ten laps and was slow - pace over 11 min. But did it! Some photos from the ship - we are at Coco Cay today. Freedom next to us again. Hanging out the wings and fries place, eating the reward for the run and listening to some music.
  3. Yes. Thin and crunchy, but I thought is helped the lobster flavor. Thank you!
  4. After going for a standard lunch, decided to order new things for dinner. Asked the waiter (great guy, Robin) for his recommendations started with a Wedge salad - this was different from the other day with a blue cheese dressing. Realizing that I was kinda hungry, ate it up. Today is lobster day. I love seafood, but have never been a huge fan of lobster (with the disclaimer that all the lobster 🦞 I’ve tried has been on cruise ships). The waiter promised a ‘double’ portion so I tried it. It was ok…I wouldn’t order it again. then Baked Alaska for dessert. I really liked this, two photos: how it is served and the inside.
  5. Champagne tasting was a lot of fun. Enjoyed the other participants and the presentation was good. Had a brut, rose, and a 11year old vintage Moet & Chandon. Also an ‘ice’ wine - which was intentionally served over ice. Learned a new way to open a bottle of bubbly. Thought I had it down, but now I have an excuse to drink some more bottles to perfect the technique. passed by this on a door….
  6. So much good advice! I love Makers Old Fashioned and had a few early in the trip…. Just realized I have not had one since too many that one night last week. They do have Bulliet on board. Will search out Garth next week. Cheers,
  7. Walked through the Solarium bistro. Food looked fine, but I was impressed by the setting with the windows and water features.
  8. I’m becoming a creature of habit at lunch. Was actually really looking forward to the salmon and this was the first time I’ve been disappointed. Undercooked and lacking some of the flavor. Maybe because it is getting to the end of the cruise so the fish is older? Other dishes are tomato soup and beat salad. they have a couple flat bread options on the menu which are basically small pizzas. If I go tomorrow, will try that.
  9. Thanks for the suggestion! Good or bad, will be flying back in a few days so will give that a try!
  10. 10k for tenth run! Quite pleased to have this one in the books. Ship is moving a bit today and run started unsteady as I couldn’t get a stride going (because of ship movement). However, my body eventually got used to it, and this may sound weird, but laps 11 thru 15 felt so much better than laps 1 thru 5…. Somehow finished a full minute faster than the other day which really surprised me as I felt slower (especially at the beginning). I stated at the beginning that my goal was 10 runs. At that time really didn’t know how things would work out. Now I’m thinking I potentially have two more in me as I’ll be in Miami post cruise and looking forward to running there again. As a reward, going to have lunch then a Champagne tasting at Vintages. Cheers,
  11. You are welcome! Comedians were Dan Wilson and Nora Lynch.
  12. I only lasted 15 minutes at the quest. Undecided if I’m just tired of it, or if not as funny anymore. Used to love it! Noticed this one had more audience participation such as sing alongs. Did not appear teams were pre-prepared as most teams were not successful in a few of the early quests. I gave attending a shot…
  13. You’ll still need reservations, but the concierge can make them for you when on board. The comedy show is the only one he rationed, as in he got me in every other show I wanted, but had limited times available for comedy.
  14. Went straight from the Aqua show to comedy. Both comedians were funny, although I had heard one of them before. Quest is tonight. Haven’t decided if I’ll attend, thinking I may stop in. Again seeing odd activities … isn’t a Hyperlink the thing in a web page that sends you to another web page? My age might be showing.
  15. Dinner. On the recommendation of another cruiser, started with tuna tartar. The fish really popped with flavor. As I wasn’t sure if I’d like the tartar, also ordered a mozzarella and tomato saled. This was solid. For main course, short rib. While I’ve been complaining a bit about red meat, I loved this, could have eating the ribs with a spoon. Finally, Ricotta cheese cake at waiters recommendation. This was a little different with the red cake bottom and lack of crust. Enjoyed and was hard not to finish. Now waiting for Aqua80 show to start. Please refer to earlier post from last time I was hear for photos. 😎
  16. After I cooled down and cleaned up, wanted to give the scale another try. Weigh in was four pounds less than the other day, one pound more than pre cruise. And this was after I’d drank probably half a gallon of water! No idea what was going on the other day, feel much better about this! As I was down stairs already, saw Park Cafe so gave them a try. Had a big salad and a warmed up Cubano sandwich. They were fine, but it took a long time to get, with a worker making my salad. Walked around and got a couple photos of the port and other ships. Enjoyed sail away from my balcony. Sunset today:
  17. St Thomas run is in books! Of course, my balcony was facing away from the port and didn’t think about the view. But as soon as I got off the ship, realized this wasn’t right, town wasn't what I remembered and no tram up the mountain. Checked my phone and realized we docked at a different port than I expected and the trail I’d planned to run was about a mile and a half away. worked my way out of the port to the main road and started to run, not sure what to expect. Sidewalk was ok and after about a mile, made it the water front trail. Soon could see the other cruise dock with three ships in port. made it to town and took some photos. The line for the tram was long! Turned around at 2.6 miles On the way back could see the Oasis through the hills, so far away! For the first half of the run, sun was in my face and slight breeze at my back. It was soooo hot!! Started to struggle after a couple miles so found excuses to slow down, walk, and check out the scenery. The way back was a little better with the sun behind me and a slight breeze in my face, but was completely spent after four miles. The last mile or so was mostly walking with short runs. Was so hot when I got back to the port, stopped at first shop I saw and bought a cold bottle of water. ignore the time, I’m glad I got this done without injury!
  18. Tried to edit last post and was too slow… Checked in on the party. Maybe 20-30 people there, mostly couples. Probably early, but not much of a party yet. DJ was doing his thing so I bet it will get hopping soon. Didn’t stick around so I make it on a run tomorrow. Cheers,
  19. I really liked the show. Usually not a huge fan of the production shows, but found this one enjoyable. Only took a few photos.
  20. Dinner tonight. Started with Sugar Snap Pea salad. While the salad was lite on the peas, I appreciated that it was also light on dressing. Crab cakes next. The crust on this was more of a crumble that kept it from being too oily. Sauce was great and slightly spicy. Main course of Roasted Lamb Loin. Had this last week on my drunk night and thought I enjoyed it. But not tonight…the meat was tough (lamb?) and flavor, including sauce, was uninspired. I only ate a bit of this. after that disappointment, ordered Cheese cake with caramel for dessert which was amazing as usual!! Now at the show, missed this one last week.
  21. I posted earlier that the crema pod was replaced, now the dak! Have no idea what the big picture is on coffee…
