I just posted a response. I will add that I have severe allergies and found that the dining room staff were poorly trained to deal with it. I’ve done enough cruises to be well versed in how dining rooms handle severe allergies.

I found many crew members were rude and impatient. Every area seemed to be congested on Odyssey. Another thing that drove those of us nuts who walk/run the track was the soot on our clothes! My shirts were covered with spots of black soot after every time I was on the track.

I did this cruise because I wanted a cruise out of Fort Lauderdale for NYE. You may like this ship, it may be that I’m just more comfortable with the smaller ships like Radiance, Explorer etc. This is just my personal experience and opinion.

Thank you for your answer. I haven't been on CC all week or I would have responded sooner. Take care.

I was on Odyssey December 30th. The cabin was ok since I was alone. The balcony was HUGE! I was in 11720. Two chairs with footstools and two tables.

I’m not a fan of the ship but the balcony was incredible!

    Hope this helps

Hi there! I'll  ask again what someone else asked. Why are you not a fan? We will be on Odyssey in November. Although we love the Oasis class ships we will be sailing this ship for the 8nt Southern itinerary.  Just wondering your thoughts. We just saw a 60 minute tour on You Tube and it looks quite interesting...

    Thank you.

And to the OP looks like the deep balconies provide best of both worlds. Sun & shade. I would, tho, be concerned if it was too deep which would make the room darker while dressing and prepping for the evening.

    Happy sailings to all!

  3. I would like to thank the CC community for their wealth of information. I held out for a cancellation of our 4/12 cruise (check ✔) but was waiting until this Friday to call the airlines to cancel, hoping that they "blinked" first.  And I read here that the airlines sometimes make inconvenient schedule changes that may result in a refund versus a credit. I am not a ""virgin traveler" (most of our travels go forward without a hitch) But this climate is very different.

So long story short our flights were changed, I called American and found that we are entitied to a refund of the fare paid.  In the small scheme of things we made out.  But to those that have much MUCH more to worry about I wish you well. Peace.

  4. Boston area checking in. Still working (insurance agency=essential) but husband on furlough. We are very early 60s but labeled as "at risk" which is messing with my head.  Keeping distant from all friends and neighbors AND my co~workers who are also worried about exposure from everyone and everywhere. Done quite a bit of much needed deep cleaning but that is getting old real fast.  Have a beach condo in Maine to escape to but they just closed the beaches today so no chance for a leisurely stroll to clear the mind and shed some lbs. We have 3 nurse nieces in Boston hospitals which is very worrisome most especially with the shortage of PPE.  I believe WE will be fine but it's them and the hospital and medical staff that concerns us the most. Sending prayers love and appreciation to all those that put themselves in harm's way. A big thank you to all. And well wishes to everyone else.

Nobody knows what's going to happen tomorrow let alone 4/12.. It probably isn't going to be their decision whether to cancel or not

No kidding.  I just thought I'd chime in and voice my fear.  I'd rather THEY cancel than me, cuz I'm NOT going.   It's that 48 hour time line that concerns me.

This virus hasn't even peaked yet, do you really want to be on a boat in a few weeks? Airlines are suspending flights left, right and center.

Nope.  Just want my money back.

  6. I, too, am sailing that ship/date and have a fear that NCL will pull that same sneaky BS of cancelling the cruise a day before embarkation.  That way if most pax cancel using that 48 hour "peace of mind"  clause they will "honor" with FCCs versus a refund (within 90 days...) if they cancel the sailing.  I so don't want to go.  But I don't want to cancel to only receive a future cruise credit. I, as most, prefer the cash refund.  Ha.  We'll see.  I am checking these boards every day, two-three-four times a day,  because NCL, naturally, is mute about the subject.  If anyone hears anything, please post!

I hope I'm wrong on this but I think the ships are going to be out of commission for more than 30 days.

I hope you're right. I was hoping for a cancellation by NCL but missed by 1 day. We are scheduled for Encore on 4/12. If there was any trip I wasn't looking forward to it was this one. I know I have a choice but it still stinks.

In a hotel that had adjoining rooms, not a cruise cabin. I was laying in bed working on my laptop when I hear someone trying to open the adjoining door. I get up and start listening and a woman is discussing with someone else where this door leads to and what it is for. She keeps trying really hard to open it for about a minute and made the comment on how it was creepy. I leaned up really close to the crack in the door and just after she said to her companion, but where does it go. I whispered loudly into the crack, it goes to my room. She yelled, oh S**T and I did not hear another sound from that room.

    Hilarious 😂

  9. Hello Cruise/wine fans! So I'm thinking of bringing the ALLOWED 2 bottles of (red) wine wrappedin bubble wrap in our checked baggage from Boston to Miami. Have not done this before but know it is allowed. However with the way luggage is handled...has anyone experienced broken wine in their suitcase? We then need to remove said wine to board the ship. It would be then that we would discover the breakage. DH woulld

NOT pleased. We arrive too early to purchase in the city.

    Has anyone experienced

Broken wine? Would anyone else try it?

  10. We're currently at 133, and will hit 140 on completion of our November cruise on Liberty. Would we be eligible for a block during that cruise, or after, or not until next cruise?

    Pat

Yes C&A told me it should have been in our cabin during that sailing..but like the robes if you know they should be there and they're not you must ask. See the Loyal Ambassador I was told. As someone else said here on CC I had no idea of their existence..once I was told how to ask about it I received it within 24hrs.

  11. Escalate

    Escalate

Tweet tweet tweet (that's a great piece of advice you got before)

    And then escalate some more.

Don't call late in the day, call during regular hours to speak with the C&A representatives. After either 6 or 8 it goes to the "after hours" crew. I made the mistake and booked a cruise after hours and was sold a non-refundable deposit rate without that little tidbit being told. As soon as I realized what could be my mistake I called right back and successfully cancelled it. There is a 24hr window to cancel.

I wonder if you got that same crew.

    ESCALATE! Squeaky wheel! Good luck.

The more I read about RCI the less I'm liking them.

But geez are their ships beautiful.

  12. Hello I have a question. I've read a few posts about the glass blocks "given" when you reach 140pts and then every 70 thereafter. I am currently at 145 and my next cruise is November. Do you think I'll be entitled to a block this coming cruise and, if so, do I have to ask about it or will they know?

DH could care less but it seems kinda neat to me.

And thanks for everyone's responses before when I waited too long to book a cabin. Sure enough some opened up and I didn't hesitate to grab them...Allure the week after Thanksgiving. Bon Voyage to us!!

  13. Imperial Jewelers, St. Thomas.
I concur. Purchased a small tennis bracelet from them in 2006, small 1ct but sweet. They said if we ever wanted to upgrade bring it back and they would honor the original price paid towards the upgrade. Did so in 2009 to a 5.5 ct bracelet for an additional sum. Brought it home for local appraisal. It was appraised for several thousands more than we ultimately paid. They are very nice and we receive a Christmas card every year! We will return.

  14. Thank you all for your responses.

Tag, did you see these cabins on RCI's website? And how do you plug in just a particular designation - 2D/4D?

I put in 3 persons for my search just now and yes quite a few popped up. Thank you Bruising for that suggestion.

When mentioning TA websites I know you can't name names but it has been about 25 years since I have used a travel agent for cruising..I wouldn't know who is better than the next. Besides what I do read here on CC is that you cannot make any changes if you have a TA as you are at their mercy for that. I prefer to be in control. HA! Look where that got me!

Thanks again I feel better after hearing from you all.
