  1. If you all have MTD, you really don't need to link...just show up together, and you'll be seated as a group!

The "linking" thing is really for traditional dining, where you're assigned a table.

    CB,

question for you. If all the reservations are linked in the computer system, doesn't only one person on any of the bookings have to make the MTD reservation and the rest will be included automatically. This is what I think is supposed to happen. Tell me if my thinking is incorrect. And I'm only talking about when your on the ship, not trying to do it online. There I know you have to have all the booking numbers to do that.

    Thanks

  2. FWIW, our onboard bookings go straight to our TA at time of booking

That's what usually happens, but you can elect to not to assign to a TA by checking a box on the form. Talking to a C&A agent a few weeks back, they told me I can transfer a NCB to a TA as long as I am more then 60 days from final payment and within 60 days of making the actual reservation.

  3. Roundtrip Havensight to Redhook 20 to 24 per person. 20 per person if 2 or more.

RDTRP taxi Cruz bay to truk Bay 12 per person

RDTRP ferry redhook to cruz bay 24 per person

Taxies always available at both ferry docks and will pick you back up at Trunk Bay whatever time you tell them.

Been there, done that on my own also and had a great time.

From port to Redhook is about 30 minute ride. so recommend catching the ferry closest to a two hour departure before your ship leaves on your way back.

  4. Just to let you know. If you all used different Ta or booked individually with RCI, there will be some hoop jumping to get them linked. if all same TA no issue, but if different one person should call in with all the booking numbers and either the TA or RCI will place remarks into you reservation that you want to be linked to the others. Then the other parties TA (if they went through one) or they will have to call and accept the linking. I just went through this two days ago and it took several phone calls. I happened to get a C&A agent that I told that this was my third attempt to get the reservations linked, she knew exactly what was going on and did it for me. The others said that everyone else had to call in.

  5. you can always go into my time dining room when you get on and pick two tables together. As soon as you can get on the line to make reservations, tell them which 2 tables you want and slip them some scratch.:D You'll get them. I have done this before especially when on ships I have been on before and I want the same staff I had the last time.

  6. unless you hit St Thomas, I do believe that the limit is still only one bottle per person over the age of 21. If you stop in St Thomas , then the limit goes to 4 per person over 21. However, this is just the duty free limit. You can buy as many as you want and the ship will store them for you. You can pay the duty if customs wants you to when you return to your departure port and the duty is roughly 1.50 to 2.00 per bottle. Its based on the proof. I've come back with as many as 18 bottles, 8 which were duty free and customs did not charge me the duty on the extra bottles. Declare every single bottle you buy over the limit though so they see your being honest.

I double checked. If your not going to the Virgin Islands, its 1 litre duty free. Don't know about shipping from a store though. I always drive to the port when I know Im going to be loading up.

  7.

Whilst all this is going on the TA who is making next to nothing out of it is custodian of $1000's of dollars of the customers money whilst running what appears to be an unsustainable business by having to pay customers to purchase.... scary

Clearly this works for a great deal of people on here but I just can't get my head round it.

I don't know about the TA's in other countries, but I think your saying that the TA's are custodians of your money and working their tails off. If that's what your inferring, in the US a reputable TA is not the custodian of your money. All billing is done by the cruise line and not the TA and therefor gets no benefit even from that.

To the others who get stuff from their TA's, for gratuities and specialty restaurants, does it show up as an obc or what? Are they rebating it to you right away or after the cruise? Im asking because I want to tell my TA (family member) how to do this? Rather have gratuities paid or an OBC then 2 bottles of wine. Thanks in advance

  8. Ye who lack the experience of finding otu one day that they are Parrotheads....have faith your day will come!

As for Falmouth....love those reviews that say it stinks! We have been there several times, last time found a truly wonderful little beach 15 minutes away. The Jerk Chicken was truly a religious experience.

So remember, when one person trashes a port, any port, take the comment witha grain of salt...salt, where's the d*** salt, sorry had to slip in a little Jimmy B. The odds are they got off the ship, walked around for 30 minutes, then ran back to the ship to hide in their cabin.

One other time, we made best friends for the day with a guy selling red label, sat and listened to reggie for an afternoon....one particular harbor...darn, I did it again!

Where did you go to the beach? Would love to just to go to a nice beach for the day.

  9. Thanks - liquor store brings up results, I'll give wine shops a try as well. I'll be going from Fort Lauderdale so will keep an eye out in other shops too.

if you want wine, just have your cab driver stop at the Publix that you pass going to the port. At that time in the morning it only cost me an extra 5.00 to have him make the pit stop

  10. This is a local beach, i dont remember ever renting anythign here. We always sat on our towels. They have a dive shop there, not much else, but it is one of the best beaches for diving and snorkeling in St Croix. If Cane Bay plantation is still there it was a great place to eat

  11. Any on board purchase that is greater then $800.00 is reported to customs and you WILL hear a different noise when you debark when you stick in your set sail pass. You will then be escorted by the customs offical to a very detailed inspection and questioning. I know someone who got caught not declaring a watch. They were asked twice if they bought anythign else and said no. BINGO $400.00 fine plus the duty. So if your going to try and beat the duty, then dont buy it on the ship.

  12. I used Portpromotions.com last year and had them get me the one that went to the Pitons and the Botanical Gardens and lunch. Cost was 70 per person. About 10 cheaper then the crusie lines and we were with the people from the ship anyway. We were taken on first and got the choice of where we wanted to sit on the Catamaran. The tour operators and the folks from the ship thought we were part of the cruise ships crew. Drinks were always punched up for us and got stuff thatthe ship tour didn't get. (ie 150 Rum in our punches LOL)
