On the Oasis this week. Concierge at the Diamond Lounge was checking all cards. While I was waiting for her assistance least 10 people were turned away that were not diamond members.
One couple was asked to leave the Suite lounge as they were not entitled to this benefit.
In the Suite Lounge this is a perk that Grand Suite guests and above pay for. Also a perk that that was earned by Pinnacle cruisers.
If you want this perk pay for it or cruise enough to earn Pinnacle status.
Um...we paid for the perk of using the Suite lounge, thank you very much. All I'm saying is our friends will have the opportunity to test out what CaroleC posted earlier. I strongly suspect her post is incorrect, and that's fine.

I thought of one more tasty dessert (or sweet snack) :) If you're on a ship where they have cheesecake pops in Cafe Promenade, they're excellent.
-
We've done both and even if price were similar, we'd take the shorter Oasis because of all the ship offers. If your teens liked Freedom, they will LOVE Oasis. Two flow riders, zip line, Boardwalk with Aqua Theater, Central Park, "beach" style pool, more dining options (both free and specialty). You'll love it!!

Even the amazing red velvet cake in Chops from a few years back has been replaced with a mediocre substitute. The only dessert I LOVE and always get in the MDR is the Grand Marnier souffle. Mmmmm :)

We're in a Crown Loft Suite next week and our friends are in a JS. They plan to have dinner with us one night in CK. We'll have them test lounge access on a night that they don't have CK reservations, and will also see if they're able to get drinks in the suite lounge after CK dinner. I'll you all know how they make out.

Does anyone know if the Kate Spade store onboard Royal Caribbean follow US retail pricing? Is there any markup by RC?
Im on the Ovation's charter cruise to Australia in case pricing differs from ship to ship.
On Oasis, prices were as shown on the Kate Spade tag. My husband bought me bag that I just HAD to have on the ship. I checked price on when I got home and it was spot on. Of course now....it's on clearance but it was a fair price at the time ;) https://www.katespade.com/products/splash-out-melly/PXRU5660.html
Best advice, same as with watches and jewelry, do some homework before you go. Enjoy your cruise!

Once onboard, you can book private photography sessions. Maybe if you see them as soon as you board, you can book a photography session and propose then.

Thanks for the links. So, it looks as though there are views over Solarium as well as the maine pools?

Does anyone have photos of this area? We'd love to know what to expect.

Thanks for the review. We've done JS, GS and OS when we can get good deals and decided to spurge on a "good" deal on an L2 on Oasis for our next cruise. It was about 2x the cost of a balcony but we took 18 months to pay for it. Now, thanks to your review, we're glad we splurged. We can't wait to try out all of the luxuries...especially the second bathroom!

We just got our welcome email from the suite concierges (Oasis) and when listing the suite perks, mentioned the evening cocktail hours but not the complimentary beer/wine during the day. Can any recent Oasis/Allure suite cruisers confirm that they still offer this?

soda, premium coffe, photographs, Internet, laundry, fresh squeezed OJ, cupcakes, spin class...there's plenty.

You are visiting locations known to be loaded with unsuspecting cruise tourists. Don't be a victim. On my last trip to Trunk Bay, St John, I had all of my valuables secured in a "vacation vault" container, strapped to a tree. My towel, hat, and sandals were next to it and someone stole my hat. Be it fellow passengers or locals, sadly there are thieves at every port.

You can carry (and consume) your drinks anywhere you'd like...dining room, pool, bars, on deck, theater, your cabin.

I highly recommend Bernard's Tours. Tour #2 gives you a great tour of both French and Dutch sides including Orient Beach, Marigot, and Maho Beach. They serve outstanding rum punch along the way...a nice bonus.

Yes some of the cost are high depending when you sail.
We booked three in a Crown Loft (SKY) (L1) for next August and the cost is about $3400per person.
But checking daily in case of a price reduction
Enjoy we do.
Sea Ya
We have one this Oct (booked in May 2015) for $2700pp

Sometimes adult men in shorts get turned away from MDR, and sometimes not. IMO, it would be foolish to not at least pack a pair of long pants, knowing that you could be asked to go back to the cabin and change. I have seen that happen a number of times.
I agree. Have long pants just in case. Their policy does say no shorts for dinner in the MDR. While it's not widely enforced, we've seen men in shorts turned away even on non-formal nights on some ships...just seems to depend on the ship and who is at the door.

We're the same way. If the ship isn't voyager class or larger, DH is no longer interested. I'm ok w/smaller if it's a port intensive itinerary but probably wouldn't go back to Majesty no matter how cheap.

We have a king bed at home and found the "queen" in our OS on Explorer to be very comfortable.

Here's a link to the cruise line's answer http://www.royalcaribbean.com/customersupport/faq/details.do?pagename=frequently_asked_questions&faqId=2608&faqSubjectId=333
Under prohibited items it lists
Candles, Incense, Coffee Makers, Clothes Irons, Travel Steamers & Hot Plates. (Items that generate heat or produce an open flame). This includes heating pads, clothing irons, hotplates, candles, incense and any other item that may create a fire hazard. NOTE: The only exception to this policy are curling irons and hair straighteners.
Note that it says curling irons and hair straighteners are the exception. It's a gamble for your wife to take the hot rollers. Technically they're not a "curling iron" so would be not permitted. She might get lucky and get them through. I have brought a small travel steamer several times (not knowing they were on the naughty list) and have had no issue. I guess it depends on who is screening and how carefully they look at what they're screening. I leave the steamer home now, not wanting to risk the hassle of having it confiscated.

We book as soon as prices are released and then watch the price as often as we can to see if it drops. Also if we are fortunate to be onboard after the new prices are out, we will book onboard to save a little.
We do the same. Booking early, with our Diamond discount, we have twice snagged Grand Suites for under $2500 (total for two) on Adventure. First time was our Feb 2016 cruise, next is our Oct 2017 cruise.

We're in an L2 on Oasis in 60 days. Are the complimentary suite lounge drinks available on the suite sun deck during the day?
-
I may in the minority but I don't see the appeal with Mama Mia either. I recently watched the movie on a flight and it was dreadful. Is the broadway show markedly better than the movie?
-
To clarify: I am wondering if drinks (esp. wine) available in the Suite Lounge starting at 11:00 am. I understand the happy hour period in the afternoon. I was thinking about a glass of wine before lunch. ;)\
We will be on Freedom in December and Grandeur in February, both times in a Grand Suite.
Thanks so much
Not on those ships. You'll have Concierge Lounge access with the complimentary cocktail hours in the evenings only.
